Well, I have to say that my friend who runs the book club has managed to do it again — select a pretty decent place to meet up. Okay, wasn’t as great as some of the places we’ve been too, rather it is more like your standard Lygon Street café(not that I’ve been to many). What was cool about this place was that when we met here they have a buffett lunch for $ 20.00, which included a drink — which for me meant a pint of Fat Yak. Now that I come to think of it, considering how much some places sell pints of Fat Yak, that isn’t a bad deal at all. The buffet had a decent selection, though I would say it was mostly Lygon Street fair, namely pizza, anti-pasto, and a variety of other things. They also had a decent fruit selection. In the end I’d have to say that it wasn’t bad, but I won’t be beating the doors down to come back here anytime soon(namely because there are so many other places to visit).

Lygon Street is awash with sub-par Italian restaurants that have dropped their game when it comes to food standards and service. Café Trevi encompasses this tradition if all reports are to be believed. I haven’t eaten a meal here so I cannot claim to agree but the service I have received when dropping by for a coffee was efficient and friendly. The coffee itself was great –strong, hot and well made. The cakes on display were tempting and if Brunetti’s was closed and I needed cake, then I would try the gorgeous looking Café Trevi cakes. For a quick no-fuss coffee then Café Trevi is A-OK.
