Wow, I’m on my own here reading the other reviews. While it looks like a proper European family run Deli, I’m afraid it’s not. The range is limited, the staff are friendly but not knowledgable in the slightest(you’d think they’d know what coppa is or the difference between Mozzarella and Fior di Latte) and the owner is extremely rude. Want a chunk of one of those great looking barrels of Parmesan in the window? You’re out of luck — pick up a packet from the fridge at the back(or go to Woolies for the same). If you’ve been to a genuine Italian or Portugese Deli like you’d find in Melbourne or in Europe, you’ll be sorely disappointed. And the coffee? To be fair it’s been a year since I last had one and they’ve changed barrista since then but the dozen or so coffees I’ve had in the 3 years previous have been poor.

The Deli has lots of things going for it, and the marinated olives in the window(delicious!) were enough to get me to step inside and look around. I decided to stay and have a coffee, rather than going to one of my regular coffee places just down the road on Oxford Street. Sadly, I wasn’t too impressed with the coffee. Not a huge fan of Vittorio coffee to start with(I’d much prefer Campos please). However, this place has so much more to offer. Lunch options, sweets and treats as well as so many gourmet deli goods. They also stock Ben & Jerry’s icream, so that’s a win in my books. I think I’ll be back for a shop, just not for a coffee.

This cozy stretch on Oxford St is picture perfect quaint. The space is small but is bursting with great things for your larder as well as serving up delicious lunches, desserts and drinks. (Check out the yumm-o coconut milk in the fridge!) Ideal for long languid lunches, quick coffees (and for grabbing an impromptu picnic antipasto plate!) I highly recommend checking out the Bulimba Deli.

Coffee + sugary sweet treats surrounded by everything from preserved lemon marinated olives and English Stilton cheese, = one glorious summer morning. Mornings spent surrounded by a plethora of delicious foodstuffs are a fantastic way to kick-start your day, whilst providing divine inspiration for feasts you’ll be sure to conjure up in the near future. As you sip your beautifully full-bodied long black, you can bask in the drooling wonderment of the delicacies surrounding you. A particular favourite is the baby quince-soaked pears. I didn’t know pears came that small, and gosh do they go well with that smokey Stilton. De-licious!

An authentic Mediterranean deli and hole-in-the-wall coffee shop where the nice ladies at the counter call you terms of endearment and the food is dinner-party caliber. They also sell a limited range of kitchenware, teapots and that kind of thing, as well as cake decoration supplies and a range of interesting drinks from their fridge — coconut juice fresh from the husk, yum! They’ve cleverly placed their impressive array of gourmet olives in the street front window, an effective strategy for luring in the olive lovers among us. It worked for me. There aren’t many places that you can get such an eclectic range, from Ligurian olives, goats cheese filled green olives, smoked kalamatas and persimmon and balsamic kalamatas. Well done guys, you’ve taken things to a new level!

Stepping into this low-lit, brick ceilinged deli, I feel like I’ve walked into a bar made for hobbits. Not that the ceiling is low(it’s a perfectly reasonable height in fact); the feeling inside here is just different to that of the outside world. It’s cosy and the smell of good coffee mixed with a tantalising display of jars filled with gourmet goodies makes it even more so. The few tables and chairs occupying the only free space in the shop are full of customers. Obviously since it’s not very big they don’t have the largest range of products, but they clearly adhere to the quality over quantity side of the argument here.

I love little specialty delis. I search for them whenever I go somewhere new. The Deli Bulimba is my new favourite. The atmosphere is spot on. Cozy little chairs, tiny wooden tables, specialty food lining the walls. I could spend a whole day here just looking and listening to the staff expertly and enthusiastically describe the merits of the different cheeses and meats. The coffee is fantastic too, just how I like it. The staff take time and care making a coffee and it is something I am more than happy to wait an extra 60 seconds for. I had friends over for dinner and I really wanted some sort of food platter. The Deli was the perfect place to go. Everything was fresh and rich in flavour. I highly recommend.

Oxford St is home to more and more specialty food stores. But there are none better than The Deli. This has some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten or used as ingredients. From balsamic marinated sun-dried tomatoes to organic goat’s fetta. This is the best place on Oxford St to get some of the most mouth-watering food on offer. Grab a coffee at the front window and just spend some time perusing through the little boutique shop. The Deli’s counter window is filled with terrine, cheeses and meats, begging you to try them. The staff are all completely trained up on what they are selling. They will usually spend a little time explaining the differences in things and why a certain smoked prosciutto is more expensive than another unsmoked etc. I definitely recommend spending a morning having a look through and bringing home some ingredients to cook with later.
