The takeaway fish and chip shop operated by Brighton Jetty Café is terrible. See picture to get an idea of value for money.

We were greeted and seated promptly for a late breakfast after a swim on a very hot morning before Christmas. A coffee order was taken and then we waited. And waited. Nowhere near full there were two staff for around 7 tables. A couple came in and were served immediately by the younger waitress who had told us that they were booked for a function so we only had an hour. It felt as though she was trying to get rid of us. Finally out breakfast came but one order was for fried eggs and they came out poached. The older waitress explained she had written the order down. She had not, and I had clearly order fried. So less than impressed– there are far better places just up the road such as cream. Plenty of crispy bacon though.

Not impressed by the takeaway fish & chip part of the business. Staff didn’t know the menu(which was quite small) when enquiring what«chicken munchies» were the person had no idea. It took 20 minutes for our order(although granted they did apologise for the wait) and my order was wrong. I ordered an egg, cheese and bacon roll(egg well done), but there was no cheese on my roll and the egg was runny. I understand mistakes happen, but when there’s only 3 ingredients in a roll there’s no excuse for leaving one off. To make it worse the chips were very poor quality and soggy. They have such a great spot on the corner of Jetty Rd and the Esplanade, but unfortunately the food was really disappointing.

This is a great place to sit outdoors to enjoy the awesome sunset. We all opted to have entrees and salad only and one main came out, told the waiter it was supposed to be entrée size and the waiter who took the order came and told us one of us must have ordered it, fortunately before we could say anything, the owner came and saved the day by taking it away and produced the entrée size within 30 seconds with a smile, that’s how it should have been handled. The owner later told us that he has another restaurant at port norlunga we should try. Perhaps we will and not to encounter the waiter again. For food, I would rate it average, pity, as the location is great.

Winter or Summer the Brighton Jetty Café is a stunning spot to sit back and almost taste the salt from the ocean 5m away on your lips in summer. It is no wonder that the prices of this place are a little higher when you are getting friendly service and an unbeatable view. Although there are limited share platters on the menu the specials board had a dips plate and tapas platter that we decided to share. The dips were homemade and unusual combinations of spinach, black pepper and fetta and creamy caramalised onion which was very pleasant with warm pita bread. The $ 20 tapas platter probably was more a single serve with way too much chicken liver pâté for my liking and not enough chorizo, proscuitto and fried white bate. Although a great combination of food and a bottle of wine was enjoyed after a hard day of laying on the sand, I wasn’t too comfortable paying $ 75 for the pleasure. But if you can do as I did and justify the view for the price then you too will enjoy!

The Brighton Jetty Café is possibly in the perfect beachside location. Situated at the end of Jetty Road or the start of the beach, depending on your perspective the Café sits proudly on the ground floor of a stunningly restored 3 storey building right on the beach front. This café is busy for breakfast, lunch, dinner and into the late evening. The food is top notch. Technically the Brighton Jetty Café is called a café but in reality it is a first class restaurant. Be warned though, you’ll need to take your credit card with you when you stop by because they also charge first class prices. Main courses are around the $ 30 — $ 35 mark and the wine list is extensive. My only regret is that this used to be the kind of ‘café’ you could walk into straight from the beach. Sandy feet were ok and you could sit down and grab a coffee or some hot chips. Things have changed a bit now and The Brighton Jetty Café is an upmarket dining experience. Don’t let it put you off though, if you’ve got the cash to pay for a meal, you will enjoy yourself.

This quaint café serves up fine, modern Australian food with stunning ocean views. The Brighton Jetty Café staff are nice enough, the service is generally fine and the wine list is quite good. DIETARYREQUIREMENTS Pescatarians will be spoilt for choice, as you would expect from a seaside café. Great fresh seafood dishes served up at this restaurant include the pan seared Port Lincoln King Fish with eggplant caponata, prawn mousse and saffron ravioli, asparagus and watercress with buerre blanc sauce. It is sheer luxury. But vegetarians may struggle to find much that’s suitable for them on the menu at all.
