Our group of four ordered four meals. Two of those were pizzas. The two non-pizza mains came out. The two of us with non-pizza mains waited some time for the two pizzas to arrive at our table but, after 5 minutes and after our meals had gone cold, decided to start. When we’d finished those meals and the pizzas still hadn’t arrived we asked the wait staff how far away the pizzas were. The waitress checked with the kitchen staff and returned to advise that there’d been a large number of takeaway pizza orders so our pizzas unfortunately got forced to the back of the line but that they’d start making them ASAP. When we suggested that they should be on the house the waitress said she’d ‘see what she could do’. She returned to our table a while later and told us she could deduct $ 2 off our bill. 20 minutes later the pizzas arrived. Unfortunately they weren’t the pizzas we’d ordered. But after an hour and a half waiting for them, we weren’t about to refuse them. Won’t be back.

It was pretty much empty when we came in. Lunch was very ordinary, lucky we had wine! Waitress served us like it was a hassle and charged us s dollar for an empty cup for our baby! Which we bought a 4 $ juice !! Not sure how that works but no tip for you today, and will check out the full restaurants next door and down the street. Waste of $ 80 dollars as far as I am concerned. I hate leaving a place wishing I just cooked at home

I thought this place was new as I’ve never seen it before. Maybe it’s just been renovated as it looks fresh. The food is standard café with pizzas, pastas, and salt & pepper squid on the menu. The prices are reasonable and the service is fairly quick. Some of the staff didn’t know the menu very well when asked, which doesn’t look good to customers. They might need to brush up on it. The place is a little vacant, and needs a bit more colour, despite the art. All in all the food isn’t too bad, but have had better elsewhere.

Beach Pit has amazing service, amazing food and quality for such a reasonable price! Beautiful scotch fillet with a red wine jus and asparagus wrapped in pancetta for $ 30. Highly recommend and will return!

I’m not going to lie. We chose to eat the in the Beach Pit because it was empty. Along Jetty road a couple of the other café’s were busy with the breakfast crowd, yet for some reason, the beach pit remained unblemished. As pristine as the moment it had opened. Ok, so to be totally honest we had heard that breakfast there was good. We had also tried most of the other cafes along the strip. But whatever, we had a crack at the Beach Pit. It. was. great. I ordered the Beach Pit deluxe, which included, 2 pieces of brioche, 2 poached eggs(a little over) prosciutto, fried tomato, mushrooms, and a little spinach and Parmesan salad, which for just $ 14(I think) was excellent value. My companions both had the big brekky, which included the brioche, eggs(1 had 2x poached, the other had hers scrambled) bacon, hash browns, tomatoes, and a chorizo sausage. Apart from a black eye one of them got(because his poached eggs were PERFECT) we had absolutely no complaints from the meal. The staff were friendly, and by the time we had left there were 10 or 20 other smart people around who had stumbled into the Beach Pit to cure their own morning stupor. The Beach Pit is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. By the looks of their Menu and specials board, and the quality and value of their breakfast, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends(aka — all you lot)

Now I love Jetty Road Brighton, but I do not love the crowds that consistently flock here … which is why we tried The Beach Pit on a Tuesday night ;) We have been here a few times before — on all occasions most diners are outside(it is the sort of area where ‘one likes to be seen’), but inside is pretty much empty … of course, we sat inside ;) We started with the garlic bread(which is *real* garlic on Turkish bread) — absolutely delicious! I ordered their Salt & Pepper Squid, which is one of the best I’ve tried — very tender and juicy, with a delicious spice mix and served(unusually but successfully) with an Asian-style coleslaw. Yummo! I really wanted to try the dessert pizza, but my partner was too full from her *huge* serve of chorizo pasta to share it with me ;) Staff are friendly, service is quick and the prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for? And since The Beach Pit is not as close to the beach as some of the other eateries along here, you’re more likely to find a table …

I should begin with a disclaimer: My friend and I had dinner here at the end of a 44 degree day just as a cool change blew through, we were drinking a crisp, chilled bottle of Taylors Pinot Gris(Taylors has got to be one of the most consistently good wineries out there), and we had a two for one meal voucher. So yes, I was predisposed to thoroughly enjoying my meal, and I did :-) I had a Whiting special that was crumbed fillets, chips with a tasty, crunchy salad and garlic aioli($ 33). My friend reported that the Salt and Pepper Squid did not disappoint(apparently it is their signature dish). The prices are at the higher end of what you might expect to pay for an order-at-the-counter café meal, but I’m prepared to pay a surcharge for the laid back Brighton buzz, as well as having the opportunity of a post dinner swim and icecream(yes, yes I do know that swimming straight after eating and drinking is NOT recommended but there were two of us and we stayed in the shallows and did I mention it had been 44 degrees?). Add a bright orange sunset and it really was a perfect end to a hot summer’s day.

In the last ten or so years Brighton’s Jetty road has developed into a quaint boulevard of quiet cafes and boutiques leading onto a magnificent beach and jetty. The Beach Pit café has been around since long before the revamp, but has grown and modernised of its own accord more recently. Made of two sections, the larger café area and the takeaway section, the entirety of the premises are clean and bright. The staff in both parts are friendly and useful, most of which seem to be in their early 20s. In summer the takeaway area is packed with beach-goers getting a quick drink and locals collecting pizzas. The café area is your typical café, with a convenient layout and plenty of tables inside and outside.
