Note the age of previous reviews… they were all accurate. But now they are not. This place changed hands and has gone downhill something fierce. The once exemplary food is now mediocre for the price. The menu is diminished. The wine list a disgrace. The service inattentive. Used to dine often for those special occasions, now won’t be back. All the best with your«lunch specials» and breakfast promos — there are plenty of better restaurants in that category in Brisbane to choose from.

My partner’s and I attended Christmas Lunch here with her parents and we were looking forward to the 3 course lunch and not having to do anything at home ourselves. The food was amazing, accompanied by a few bottles of delicious French champagne. The scallops in the entrée were delicate and fresh, the veal and escargot in my main melted like butter in my mouth, and the chocolate tart with pistachio mousse was a delight to the senses. Would love to visit again for a romantic dinner for two.

I’ve not had a bad mouthful of food at Baguette. The service and knowledge of the staff is fantastic. Would have to be my favorite French restaurant.

It was a birthday celebration and we all had a bit of money to burn at our good friend’s 30th. There was about ten of us and we all decided that we should go for it and order the banquet that was three courses for $ 39 dollars each. After we placed out orders, we began to scan the cocktail menu and were delighted that there was a mixture of low and high priced drinks. Whether they were inquiring if anyone needed a new drink or making sure our meals(which were absolutely, positively delicious) were to our satisfaction, the staff at Baguette were friendly and helpful and did their best too look after the crew, who as the night went on got a little loose. At one point we were having such a great time, we began to get a little too rowdy for the surrounding patron. At that point the manager came over and politely asked us to keep it a little more considerate for other, to which we obliged because Baguette had obliged us this far. At the end of the night, one of the cheeky monkeys at our table asked if we could get a meal free since it was our friend’s birthday. After looking at his license the manager said ok. How good was that?

Baguette is my all time favorite French restaurant in Brisbane. Whenever there is a special occasion in the family and I get to pick the restaurant(that and my father gets to pays for, wink wink), I will pick Baguette. This is fine French cuisine at its best. Baguette should not get compared to bistro style French restaurants as it clearly focuses on a different aspect of French cuisine. I fee there are way more French restaurants that focus on bistro style than fine French cuisine. Baguette will generally not serve ‘Casoulet, Beouf Bourginion, Couquille St Jacque. Instead, expect to see something unique like Fish cooked with a blowtorch or little purees combined with scalloped cooked in 2 different ways. Everything is intricate with fine French cuisine and it noticeable within the first bite; you will not always understand what a particular flavour is but you will LOVE it. The baguette, wine, desserts, and even the way they cook their vegetable side dishes are simple divine! This restaurant is not cheap(expect to pay $ 40+ for a main) so it is not somewhere I go to often; it is the restaurant I look forward to going to every time I know there is a special occasion coming up in the family.
