There’s not too many ramen options in Brisbane, so Taro’s is a good option. The soup stock is great for the tonkatsu and chicken karaage is excellent. It’s my go to for an easy and tasty dinner.

Loving that my favourite ramen is in Ascot too now. Always awesome. Red tonkotsu everytime and supersize everything. Maybe some kaarage. Cracking.

This place has got to be the best Ramen in Brisbane. Having only just discovered Taro’s(yes I know it has been around forever) I seem to visit it more than once a week. Fire tonkotsu ramen for the win.

Given that I eat Japanese food on a weekly basis, It’s a tragedy that I haven’t eaten at Taro’s Ramen until today! Fast forward: there’s an empty bowl and a happy, full tummy, it was as if I had been transported back to Japan for an hour or so! Around our table, we devoured gyoza and karrage with an ice cold Kirin Ichiban. Though the sides are roughly twice the price of the local sushi train, they are about five times as delicious and worth every penny! Ramen wise, we had Tonkotsu, Red and Fire and they were all amazing, delicious and fresh with a slice of Bangalow pork and half a boiled egg. Fire was super spicy! There is a good range of extra spices and chilli oils if you need them. There’s also plastic plates, cups and cutlery for the little noodle lovers in your life. I can’t wait to get back to Taro’s and work my way through the menu.

«The test results are back. The last thing the victim consumed before he was murdered was… a mouth watering Red Tonkotsu ramen soup from Taro’s in Ascot.» These words will one day be spoken by the state coroner. I will be the victim.

Eating at Taro’s is like enveloping yourself in the hug of a dear friend. And now it’s a dear friend you can find in two locations. Everyone knows the crazy rush that can accompany their CBD location, but the new restaurant at the Eagle Farm Racecourse end of Racecourse Road, is a little quieter and more relaxed. It’s suburban and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. We arrived on a Saturday evening just after 6:00pm to the air-conditioned inside seats full of eager ramen eaters. It’s still counter service like their CBD counterpart. I opted for the miso ramen while my dining partner took our server’s recommendation for the classic tonkatsu ramen. They’ve made use of footpath dining and it’s quite cool with the evening Summer breezes passing through. From the first slurp to stealing the egg from my dining partner’s tonkatsu, the location hasn’t changed the Taro’s success. All that’s changed is the location, and frankly, I like the slower pace of their new venue. It’s less about getting in and getting out as fast as you can. There’s an atmosphere that allows you to sit and enjoy your bowl of ramen for all it’s worth. I’m still working on the trifecta of having Taro’s Delivery in Brisbane.

Ramen here is average but very overpriced(they said that they use free range egg and pork from some local farm). The soup was bit blend(needed more kick of the miso or even add Korean miso like what others are doing) and the ramen noodle texture even though handmade in the kitchen didn’t have the same taste and texture to what you get in Japan and even in Sydney. Service was decent, the server didn’t put the ramen directly in front of me as well as the cutlery. I was thinking, it is me who is eating it. Not my imaginary friend. If they get the soup and ramen noodle right. I might consider coming back.
