I’d had a couple of good coffees from here previously but this morning the young man that served me seemed more interested in providing a witty sense of humour than a decent coffee. The end result was an extremely hot coffee that burnt my tongue on first sip. I immediately threw it in the bin. Obviously can’t expect consistency here so I’ll avoid in future.

Ducked in for a coffee on a business call. No doubt the beans are excellent, but my coffee was spoiled by being served at near boiling point. The coffee was acceptable once it cooled, but this kind of rookie mistake isn’t what you’d expect from a store that specialises in coffee.

If you are looking for a great place to buy, discuss and enjoy an expansive, amazing, mouth watering range of coffees from across the globe, then The Grind is it! These guys really know their coffees intimately and can recommend a bean to suit your tastes based on anything from strength to acidity to flavour profile. You can start with their house blend(Supa Crema — a great coffee in and of itself) and then tune future selections based on what you liked and didn’t like about the last bean. The advice is free flowing and not at all condescending and the crew make an awesome coffee to boot. Give it a try!

The Grind @ Central makes one thing and one thing only, and by-gosh they make sure they do it well. The Grind only makes coffee(and the occasional hot chocolate) and I always find the coffee to be absolutely spot on. The beans are roasted to perfection, the milk is just the right level of frothy-bliss and the temperature is spot-on. A tiny stall, coffee can be enjoyed at the stall on one of the 8 bar stools available, but more than likely you’ll be taking your coffee away to enjoy the rest of the market. The Grind doesn’t often sell accompaniments to your coffee, occasionally there will be a biscuit of sorts but don’t drop in for coffee and cake with your mates as you may be disappointed. I always find this a bit of a shame as I love chatting away to the barista and other stall staff and getting the goss on new roasts and new techniques with coffee making. The Grind also sells a selection of percolators, plungers, grinders and cups all for coffee making and the price range is hugely varied. The Grind also has a range of beans available, sourced from all over the globe and the staff are always more than happy to assist you when making your choice as to what should be bought and the best grind for your device.
