Finally, you decide to come in to the CBD and hang out with your besties(well, at least I think we are your besties). Little did you know that when we took you to the Gallery would you feel so at home in the urban jungle. Spacious terrace, not-comfortable-but-look-nice chairs, and a fantastic view of concrete, glass and steel(and that awful Polites sign). You scan the drinks menu and realize there are some decent bottles of wine, and you smile. Away from the traffic, but feeling the city’s heartbeat — just what a rooftop bar should be. There is food, but haven’t experienced it. Be merry, make The Gallery your watering hole. Come early in the day, as I have a nagging suspicion it may get crowded at night.

Great night at the Gallery last night — went early 530ish with some girlfriends for a light meal and some drinkies. The staff were excellent — we walked in without a booking and saw a lot of the tables were already reserved. On seeing us struggle to find a suitable spot for a group of 8 people(our bad for not booking!!) plus it had started to spit with rain — a friendly staff member came straight up to us and moved a few things around and gave us a long table that fit our group exactly. Ordered the mushroom Aranchini balls — $ 14… Absolutely Delicious ;) and a couple of glasses of wine — bar staff recommended getting a bottle as it would be cheaper and we settled in. Throughout the night the staff were attentive removing empty plates and glasses quickly, moved out table in out of the rain and under cover, lighting up the gas heaters as it got cold and were just generally a all oiled machine. The Music was superb on point all night — great work by the dj — some new and old classics but it set a really positive vibe. We all ordered the churros for desert and although I’de never had it with cream as a group demolished them but with approx 8 long thin churros sticks to one serve a suggestion would be to order this for 2 people(like the bar staff recommended and we declined) as it was difficult to finish for one person! Thanks to the staff and DJ for a great night — we’ll be back for sure ;) Only thing that might be nice is a cocktail happy hour of some sort when getting there early — a lot of bars/clubs etc offer now $ 10 cocktails if you get there early like between like 530 – 630? Notes for next time 1. Get there early to grab a great spoke OR 2. Book a table next time as we won’t be as lucky Order deserts to share 3. Order wine by the bottle 4. Take your phone/fit but with you to the toilets as they a floor down to bump up your daily steps

I’m a sucker for rooftop bars and The Gallery(off Waymouth St, entrance across from Proof bar) did not disappoint. I haven’t had any food here, always been a pre– or post-dinner stop and enjoy the chilled out atmosphere here. Drinks list is interesting enough but they don’t change it often. There are an assortment of sitting arrangements from high tables to low outdoor couches. Pretty comfy seats with cushions and outdoor heaters means you can hang out on the deck for ages. Great for groups and they take reservations.

Went for a group lunch that had been organised beforehand with the staff, took over an hour for us to get our food. Some of the group we were with experienced rude service and all of us were late back. Nice venue but the food was not worth the wait.

I’ve been here a few times. I love sitting in the rooftop and having a drink in the sunshine or a balmy night such as this one. However I’ve never tried the food! Tonight I ordered the sliders with fries. At only $ 18 and not a huge but a reasonable size I thought that it was a good price. They were delicious! They even provide portable phone chargers. This may be a thing I don’t know about now since I’m old but I thought that was pretty impressive. In short, love this place and will keep coming back :)

Eating delicious sliders and fries(with beer, only $ 20 at lunch) on a rooftop deck overlooking Waymouth Street, adjacent to a wall of herbs. What is there not the like?

I can’t stop raving about The Gallery’s amazing atmosphere, food and view to all my friends. Dining in this great location makes me wonder why Adelaide doesn’t have more roof top bars. The tapas were delicious as I managed to indulge in some of the best arancini balls I have ever tasted. We had 4 Tapas between two of us and it was well and truly enough to fill us both up. The drinks menu is extensive but slightly over priced. However it is easy to over look this whilst you sip at a nice glass of wine glass and look down at the illuminated streets of Adelaide. The staff were all extremely pleasant and well presented And don’t worry getting cold on a wintery-Adelaide night, the gallery has a gas heater for ever table that will have you taking off your coats and scarfs in no time. The gallery is a perfect location for knock off drinks on a Friday or a place to enjoy a nice dinner with friends. The seating arrangements mainly consist of large communal benches. So if you plan on going on a date here on a Friday or Saturday night you may find yourself struggling to find a secluded location.

I’ve been to the Gallery for both functions(work Xmas party) and a casual cheeky drink. I was super impressed with the quality of the nibbly party food they served for our function(you NEED to try the salt and pepper squid and arancini balls!) and the smaller gallery made for a cool, cosy little party spot. The rooftop is frequented mostly by young businessy types for after work drinks and casual noms, so maybe wear your ‘nice’ shoes and take bib to prep for those slippery little sliders that Adelaide seems to be obsessed with at the mo. I happened to swing by on a Friday night when it was particularly busy and things were pretty hectic up there so maybe pick a quieter time if you want to speak to your buddies or have an actual meal consisting of more than just wedges — although the wedges are pretty decent. You know that balance of crispy outside and fluffy inside?! Yeah…

Adelaide is made for rooftop bars but I’m told there’s only two! The Gallery certainly boasts a great one — with plenty of tables and a nice outlook. We scored a table looking at a wall that had art projected on to it which I thought was rather neat. The booze selection was respectable but not impressive. You can get your usual range of wine and cocktails, but don’t go expecting anything unusual or bespoke, this isn’t that kind of place. The food menu LOOKS impressive. There’s a diverse range of well priced«sharey» items and we got ordered four dishes between two to share. With a drink each it was a very reasonable $ 68. As I saw dishes coming out around me I got rather excited to get stuck in to our snacks. I should have specified that I would like it to come out in bits, rather than all at once. When you’re faced with four dishes of varying temperatures it’s hard not to feel rushed to eat, lest they get cold or warm while you work your way through. Sadly, the food wasn’t anything special. It’s all beautifully presented and in theory is should have been great. Tiny tweaks to the overall balance of these dishes would make such a huge difference. Smoked duck breast on betel leaf with pickled ginger? These things were dripping with pickling liquid — I literally had to «drain» it over the plate before attempting to eat — and the pickled ginger was overpowering. The fig salad and sliders were both overly sweet — they could have been excellent as everything appeared fresh but in both there was something missing.(I’d swap the mozzarella out for a stronger saltier cheese in the salad and put something spicy on the pork slider instead of the boring coleslaw). The squid was well cooked, but skip the tasteless mayo and ask for a lemon wedge instead. I’d come back to gallery for drinks and the great outdoor atmosphere but I won’t be in a hurry to try the food again.

I’m still a tad baffled as to why every rooftop in Adelaide doesn’t serve booze on it, OH&S schmo-h&s I say! The extension of the Gallery Rooftop has added a penthouse ambiance to the already trendy location and its patrons. With a beautiful view of the buildings along Waymouth St and hipsters lounging in their short shorts and popping red lipstick I fell in love in love with the place. Being old I will say that although the bar stools are aesthetically pleasing they will leave indents in your cheeks and if I was to go here again I’d either have to stand or sit on a lounge. Drinks were not cheap but there was a good range of wines and beers and one step up from basic spirits. The food is the exhibit in itself though and should not be avoided. we dined on 8 tapas between 3 of us and were completely stuffed at the end. Highlights included the sea fresh and tender beetroot cured kingfish sashimi, tempura zucchini flowers with spiced pumpkin purée and the S&P squid with saffron aoli. And, god knows why, but the fig and mozzarella salad with pear sauce won many friends(and lovers) that night. Oh and there is a gallery/function space on the 2nd floor, but the only exhibition you will want to see is that of Adelaide showing its sunset and skyline from below.

Straight to the point. The plastic chairs, the table pieces, the bar; all feels pretty tacky. The bar and wait staff couldn’t have been more deliberately aloof. The rooftop novelty is short lived once you realise you’ve scored an uninterrupted view of the glass walled Advertiser building opposite. All the above adds up to a place that feels like it’s been tacked on as an afterthought. A rooftop bar does not immediately equal a cool atmosphere. The wines are priced fairly well and the selection by the glass is decent. The share plates were average with some pretty suspect sugary/packet(?) sauces and dips amongst what we tried. Olives side was served in a sugared lemon olive oil mix-up, all our group remarked how strange the mix was. Encapsulates the whole feel of the place for me in that it’s just missing the mark. The Gallery wasn’t particularly bad in any way… It just wasn’t standout good in any way either. Would recommend for large groups. Smaller groups and couples might want to consider some of the cosier, nicer set recent openings within walking distance from here.

Really cool balcony bar in the heart of the CBD and something we’ve been on the look out for. Heat lamps were required on the evening we went but were plentiful and added a nice by-the-fireplace feel. Clearly targeting the afterwork crowd but not as pretentious as it could have been. Friendly bar staff who were very willing to help. Could do with extending their range of bottled beers but that doesn’t detract too much. Will definitely be back, and will be bringing a group.

Roof top bar = super cool, trendy and hip. We had a variety of share plates and all where beautifully presented and all where delightful. The wine menu is a range of mostly local selected wine, including some of my fav labels. Great getup for Friday night wine downs and the like… The new place to be seen in Adelaide.

I always love a good roof top bar. I don’t think there really are any others in Adelaide, so it was good to see that this place had re-opened. They have quite completed the ground or second levels, but at least the roof top is open in summer, so who cares! I had to wait 15 mins to get in but it was worth the wait. The décor is simple with a pot plant wall, bird statues, and their illuminating ‘up arrow’. I guess you know what way to go. The only down side is there is no real designated smoking area for smokers so they just smoke every where. It’s a big annoying if your not a smoker. Also there are lots of chairs everywhere that make it hard to walk around, and you have to sit on one if you are holding a drink. What the? I guess they think if you walk around with a drink you are more likely to smash your glass? It’s a bit OTT. They play cool chilled beats, but there is no dance floor up there. Damn. Just a bar. Maybe when they finish the rest of it, there will be? I’d love to take interstate visitors here from Melbourne. It’s very Melbourne.
