Warm and cozy. Two words describe this place quite well. On the 4 side of 3 ½, This place is tiny, with tiny tables and a tiny upstairs restaurant, with a décor made up largely of dark woods and chrome this place is so 90’s America I feel like I’m in an episode of Frasier. The coffee is made well with average beans, possibly trying a new blend this place could improve(With Koko black next door they should definitely consider it). Fresh cakes and sandwiches are made everyday plus they have all day breakfast — all day breakfast is the best thing in the world… It just is. Decent prices makes this place great if you want a quick bite and a coffee to go.

An OK coffee shop just off of Rundle Mall in Adelaide Arcade — I wouldn’t shout out about it but I wouldn’t bag it out either. With so many coffee places in the CBD, and good coffee places at that, you have to up your game if you want to attract and keep customers. It’s not that the The Coffee Spot is bad, because it isn’t. The coffee is fine and the the cakes are ok, and I’ve had soup here which has been nice too. It’s juts that a café needs something special or distinctive if I’m going to re-visit. Could be atmosphere, could be food options… but the Coffee Spot doesn’t excel in either. The wait staff made a show of calling us «bella» and being cutely Italian, and they were attentive. Just not a lot to make me want to come back.

Average. That’s pretty much descriptive of the entire experience here. Cappuccinos seem very average(largely thanks to the coffee bean mix they use, because the ratios of milk and froth seemed to be about right), the slices and cakes and that sort of thing were okay, but nothing to write home about. The service isn’t amazing, but it isn’t that bad either. It’s quick enough, given that they’ve been pertty busy when I’ve been in, but it still hasn’t taken overly long to receive my order. It’s not somewhere I go out of my way to get into, but it’s not bad either.

The Coffee Spot isn’t bad. Although, I think the volume of cafés is beginning to take its toll on the creativity of establishment titles. The Coffee Club, The Spot, and now The Coffee Spot? I ordered a latté and the milk was steamed very well. The quality of the coffee itself wasn’t terrific(it didn’t have much of a coffee smell or taste, it was mostly in the milk) but it went down with a smoothness and pleasure you don’t always experience as cafés. I think that volume has taken its toll on customer traffic too. I’ve been to The Coffee Spot a few times(and walked past it several dozen more than that), and I’ve never seen it very full. Either this is more a testament to the store’s quality than anything I can see, or The Coffee Spot is just unlucky. P. S. Dindo! A tip: when you create an alternate account to review your own reviews, don’t click all three options(useful, funny, cool). Just click one or two. That way, your cunning won’t be so easily discovered.

23/12/2011 «Was that you that was laughing at my hair last time I was here? Don’t laugh at my hair.» Ok, so that was one of the first things I heard from another customer(complaining to a waitress), within minutes of sitting down with my best friend for coffee here. Should I be careful in talking with the staff here? Is this how staff typically talk to their customers? I’m a bit wary of this shop now. After starting my day here at The Coffee Spot, I was expecting a great kick-start to my day. It wasn’t really all that. I got what I needed out of it though. The carrot cake was nice, but I’ve had much better cake put in my mouth at other coffee spots. Man… I’m starting to sound like I can afford coffee every morning. What am I turning into? I was expecting banana bread, but they don’t sell that here, so I was sucked into trying their carrot cake. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great. It was just your typical carrot cake, not as exciting as you might think. I moved on to the next shop as quickly as I gulped down their café latte.
