Fantastic meal. We had soft-shell crab, caremelised king prawns, cold rolls and special fried rice. Couldn’t have been better — fast delivery and friendly.

With so many Vietnamese restaurants in Adelaide, it’s hard to fine the best one. Though in my opinion NNQ would have to be at the top of the list. Like its main store, Little NNQ provides top quality authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a modern setting. I usually eat the combination phở, which I would say is spot on. The broth is flavoursome and blends extremely well with the meats brightly about a wholesome rich aroma that can only be described at heavenly. The meats are always well cooked and serving is extremely generous. In addition, the bun bo hue at NNQ is my favourite in Adelaide. It is a complicated dish to make as the amount of spices has to be just right. I would say that NNQ’s BBH comes to near perfection. It’s been consistently good each time. Overall, it’s difficult to find the perfect phở. Each restaurants makes their phở differently and if you are an avid phở lover, it’s best to keep searching for your own personal favourite. Though if you want the perfect phở, you have to go to rural Vietnam where it originated.

Great looking place. I came here a year ago and it was good but this time around 3 of the 4 courses we had(mussels, oysters, steak ‘stir fry’ were all drowned in this thick salty soy base sauce. The other dish was drowned in sweet chilli. Nothing like the way they presented the food last time we came. It was presented on the plate nicely. Even the bugs were barely recognisable.

If you want something nicer than the Central Market food court, but cheaper than Concubine; or if you’re just in the mood for some delicious Vietnamese cuisine that doesn’t come in a bread roll, this is the place. Venture inside Little NNQ’s exposed brick walls and you’ll find a warmly lit, deceptively large modern fusion of Eastern tradition and Western hipsterdom. The menu is broad but not overwhelming; not cheap but not unaffordable either. Servings are generous — my very hungry caterpi– I mean, boyfriend and I ordered three dishes between us, and were both more than satisfied. As for what to choose? Making your own cold rolls is fun if you’re feeling hands on, and I can never go past the Tamarind softshell crab. The wine list is varied and well-priced — I enjoyed a glass of the Château Maris Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc and felt properly posh. Then there’s the list of five signature cocktails named after the family’s «annoying, naughty but too adorably cute» cats and dogs, representing each pet’s personalities and tendencies — you’ll want to sample all five for sure.

Yay for an awesome dinner, in an awesome location, cool atmosphere and wait… Wait… Not a gigantic bill! We went there last week because a friend suggested and its my new go to Asian cuisine place in Adelaide. It’s fresh(as Vietnamese food should be), interesting, and cheap! Definitely worth checking it out.

Exposed brick, vietnamese newspapers on the walls, and modern aluminium lighting — the hip fit-out is balanced by wooden condiment utensils/bowls and organic-looking crockery. It comes together to give a cozy but well put-together feel — a place you could linger for a drink or two after a warming bowl of phở, or a vermicelli salad, depending on the season. I visited in winter, so selected a bowl of Han’oi beef phở for lunch. The menu is modest, to say the least — less than two-dozen choices — but they get it just right. It’s a welcome change from the choice paradox that too many menus present — phở; noodle salads; rice dishes; a couple of ‘stews’ to boot. The dinner menu is similarly restrained, but the drinks menu offers plenty of wines, a good range of boutique beer, as well as cocktails by the glass or carafe(hello, summer!) The food is authentic and served promptly. Wait-staff were a little thin on the ground when on this particular Sunday afternoon, but that’s pretty much par-for-the-course for Adelaide. Pricing is very competitive — comparable to Western suburbs Vietnamese joints, at $ 11 for more phở than I could eat. It’s a great little spot — my pick for Vietnamese in the city.

It’s seriously difficult to find a place to have dinner in Adelaide pre January 15th of every new year. That’s because most restaurants and café’s are taking a break from trading, and whilst I’m fully supportive of that and believe they deserve it, it doesn’t help when you’re in a group and hungry. Gouger Street is the saviour when it comes to finding that open dinner place and Little NNQ is the haven. We, a group of 8, arrived without a booking and only had to wait for 15 minutes until a table was free. Whilst we waited we were looked after by four different waiters; each offering us drinks and menus. I personally thought that outstanding service was just so we didn’t leave and that it would end once we were seated inside, but no! It got even better with an extra two staff helping us out. At this point, I should mention we had a head waiter looking after us and the rest assisted him, which made for a smooth dining experience. Half the table ordered entrees whilst others just stuck to mains. The meals arrived at different times, which was the only disappointment of the night; but the taste all but made up for it. I ordered the spring rolls — definitely have these, they’re sensational! — and the pork belly, which was a little fatty(but what can you expect?). Little NNQ has great décor; try it out!

I came here for a NYE lunch with a work colleague and had the duck noodle soup. Yum! It’s so filling for a $ 13 lunch special as well. There was whole duck pieces and big big mushrooms. The base was salty but not too much. A good serving. I also had the ha noi spring rolls. Delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly and it wasn’t too busy. I’d definitely come back again for lunch.

1) pricier version of Ferryden Park 2) tasty dishes just like Ferryden Park but, 3) served stir fried beef with vegetables with sour tasting beef that gave our table, which shared the plates, diarrhoea :(

Delicious Vietnamese authentic meals. Had a pork ball salad and had a home made lemonade that was just amazing. Bonus because it’s healthy too! Service was outstanding with a pleasant Italian guy and prompt service over all. Décor is modern and chic, very big dining area upstairs and down stairs, you wouldn’t think so looking from outside. Will be going back some time in the future.

Down in Ferryden Park there’s a well known gem of a shop. Nghi Ngan Quan is always packed, and rightly so. When the news of a CBD venture came to light, well, we had to try it! It’s JUST like the other NNQ(der.) The décor is lovely and new, the service is as friendly as can be and the food was tasty. Can’t go wrong!
