My son went to one of the rock shows here and when he came home he had bruises on his shoulders!!? He said he had a great time and that the concert was good. he insists he didn’t get in a fight, he was just moshing? I don’t get what he does at these punk shows but hey!!’ we were all young once. Oh, he told me to write this in the review that«true punks support the scene» I don’t know what it means? I’m just glad he gets out on the weekends… I’m so lonely., my hungry man dinner is ready!

Fowler’s Live is undisputedly the best place for live music in Adelaide. After having played shows in venues all over Adelaide, I’ve concluded that you won’t get a better sound anywhere else(unless you up the ranks to Thebarton Theatre or the Entertainment Centre). Fowler’s holds live shows weekly, ranging from international artists to local acts. They’re consistent in providing one of the most intimate and sonically impressive live music experiences in the State, and it’s no wonder acts from all over the world choose to play here. The drinks are cheap and the venue is nice and spacious, allowing a lot of movement. There are stools and tables in the front room, but the action is in the second room with the stage. The staff is friendly and helpful, but you don’t want to get on their bad side. Be nice to them, and they’ll be nice to you. Treat them like shit, and, well… something bad will happen.

Fowler’s is home to Adelaide’s live music scene, hosting local, interstate and international talent. This place is the epitome of what a music gig should be; loud, sweaty, plastic beer filled cups in hand, and music lovers standing, moshing, or doing their interpretive boxing dance moves apparently known as «throwing down». I’m usually here for the metal gigs, which are always great. The stage isn’t out of reach of the audience so you can get right up and personal to the bands, at your own risk though, it can be a bit rough up front. Although not as large as some other music theatres, Fowler’s offers a reasonably big area and a more intimate experience. Merch areas are easily accessible in the bar room, as are a small array of beverages. Toilets are down a ramp like area, which even without alcohol in your system can be a hot spot for stacks. Girls, don’t wear heels here, you’ll fall down the ramp to the toilets and you will also generally look like a twat. Casual and relaxed is the dress code here; band tee’s, jeans, flannies and caps. This is definitely one of my favourite places to go watch a band.

Fowler’s Live is the beating heart at the centre of Adelaide’s local music scene. As well as hosting most of Adelaide’s rising musical talent, it also plays host to many interstate and international acts. With a half decent-ish bar with average drink prices but a small selection of drink types, Fowler’s is a great venue. No need to waste your time selecting between a plethora of drink types, go enjoy the live show! The line array PA setup(I think that’s what it is, from a punters pov) sounds great, better than any of the other similar sized venues in Adelaide such as The Gov.

Fowler’s pulls some awesome gigs. I went and saw The Brian Jonestown Massacre here and to describe it as epic and awesome and everything I wanted it to be would be an understatement. The venue’s not as big as other famous Adelaide gig spots like The Thebbie or The Gov, but what it lack in room it makes up for in dark charm. With a regular large bar on one side of the venue catering to all your imbibable needs, and the stage through two doors in the middle of the room, Fowlers is set up for one thing: GIGS. Things can definitely get hectic inside Fowlers as the artists playing here are generally of the rock variety, so get ready to boogie. The Adelaide branch of Laneways Festival also plays through here and amongst the UniSA courtyards nextdoor.

It’s called Fowlers Live for a reason; their shit is live! Fowler’s is the grungiest hostess in Adelaide: she’s loud, proud, and a bit filthy, and that’s why we love her. This venue is host to a mixed bag of pop, rock, metal, everything, the only guarantee: there will be beer. Yes it’s true, you should not wear your best shoes here because people will spill booze all over them, and you will probably fall negotiating the ramp down to the loo’s, but man you’ll have fun there, with the emo’s and muso’s and locals who don’t have labels and just want to check out bands. Don’t try to take on security here: they will see you smuggling booze in your handbag in order to drink and smoke out front, and they will kick your arse. Just get drunk, do what you’re told and nod your freaken head.
