A last minute decision led a friend and I to Dumplings R Us. I’ll start off by saying I thought there was decent value for money. A friend and I both ordered dumplings(one chicken, one pork) in chilli broth, and were honestly impressed with the size. I could barely get through all mine, but bravely managed to do so. The dumplings were good, though nothing particularly special. The chilli broth was also quite flavorsome and I have to say, I did enjoy the meal! It came out pretty quickly too. However, service perhaps could have been a little better, though it was still plenty hospitable. The staff were friendly and greeted us with menus immediately after entering. The only reason I say it could have been better is that when our meals arrived, the waiter didn’t notify us which meal contained which meat, and left abruptly so we couldnt really ask. This led to me eating most of my friend’s dumplings(he ordered pork) before we realised! The décor was pretty nice, and the shop is conveniently located on Rundle St. It wasn’t too loud inside either. Dumplings R Us is nothing special, but if you’re in the city and find yourself hungry, it’s not a bad place to hit up, especially with a pretty decent value for money.

Pros: — Pleasant, smiling staffs. — Quick service Cons: — Don’t order the Hainanese rice here. It’s super bland Try at Warong near Coles Rundle mall — We got so disappointed with the Hainanese rice that we ordered 2 more dishes just to know if their food is really that bad or it’s just their least likeable meal option(it’s a big resto and quite plenty people eat there so maybe theyre doing something right so why not give them a chance). So we tried the spicy beef platter and pork shrimp dumplings. The tastes are so-so compared to what we’ve previously ordered but still lacking. Like what others said, if you want a good tasty dumpling better go to Central Market food court or the Yum cha store near Coles Rundle mall. I wanna give a 2.5 star but i cant so 3 will do. I could still get better quality meals in other restaurants for the same price. I dont hate the place but I have no reason to go back there again. PS I mistakenly posted this at Dumpling King. Just realized yesterday when we passed the same place. I was like ooooops! Lol I apologize for that. I’ll be more careful next time.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for United Latino Cocina. I was already overdue for a meal after 24 hours of travel time. Much to my disappointment, ULC was closed by the time I found it(5:30pm). So around the block I walked looking for something else. Stopped into Dumplings R Us because I saw they had more than just dumplings. I ordered the stir fried sliced pork belly with vegetables and rice. It wasn’t bad. Or maybe I was just hungry. Imagine my surprise as I logged onto Unilocal to write a review and see that this place has low ratings. Oh well, my meal was okay.

Disgusting! The supposedly chilli oil dumplings did not taste spicy at all! The Beef dish was extremely mediocre as well. Just an overall disappointment

The price was right at Dumplings R Us which I liked. The menu was extensive which I also enjoyed. I had hot and sour soup with chicken dumplings. The quality of the dumplings were nice but the soup I had was cold which ruined the whole dish. The soup itself was pretty bland.

With a name like Dumplings R Us, you damn well better be good at whatever the«X» is before«R Us.» Because you’re kinda pigeonholing yourself there, sport. And sadly, Dumplings R Us is found wanting. Their dumpers are kinda claggy, and dished up with all the care and attention of someone without any care or attention whatsoever. I got the dumplings in chilli broth. .. which wasn’t so much chilli broth as it was chicken stock with a squirt of chilli oil in. The oil was sitting on the top in globs like it had just been squeezed in three seconds ago.(Which it had been). Wasn’t even mixed in. C’mon now DRU. You’re not even trying now. How hard is it to screw up dumplings, eh? EH?

What was once a much heralded addition to the Chinese dumpling family for Rundle Street has sadly all but taken itself for granted in the past year since its opening. The dumpling pastry is thick and glutenous, the filling is little and badly ground up. The steamed dumplings are watery and tasteless and the fried dumplings are burnt and dry. Customer service is non existent, and the staff are unhelpful and lazy. The store was only a third full and they still took over 30 minutes for 2 dishes of dumplings. Of note now, is that there are virtually no Chinese students eating here anymore. If you rely on judging the worth of something by its customer base, then this action speaks louder than my words ever could. My most recent visit last month will fortunately be my last, and I actively discourage any of my friends from eating here ever again.

You would think with a name like Dumplings R Us they would be able to actually make a good dumpling. Or maybe the name should give the exact opposite impression. Either way, Dumplings R NOT Us. I had the displeasure of a plate of terrible, half claggy, half chewy pork dumplings. One had a spot of fluorescent blue on it. The meat was watery and tasteless. I also had a spring onion pancake — usually light, flakey and tasty as hell. Not these ones, they were dense with no flake at all. The inside was raw and doughy. I will not be returning and I would definitely not recommend when there are so many other wonderful dumpling houses in Adelaide.
