Lap of Love

Our beautiful Callie (calico kitty) was assisted on her journey to heaven at 5:50 p.m. by these Angels of Mercy and I am writing this review at 7:15 p.m. One would think that I would want some time to grieve before writing a post but I cant wait to tell everyone about this amazing service. My wife and I were traumatized 22 years ago by a cold and impersonal euthanasia experience provided at our vet’s office. At that time we vowed never to go through that kind of experience again! So when our kitty was diagnosed with chronic renal disease four weeks ago, we knew we had to make good on that vow. Lap of Love was recommended to us and to say that our experience was dramatically different would be a HUGE understatement. The vet arrived at our house on time and spent almost 35 minutes with us discussing our baby’s history, her diagnosis and the treatment plan we had administered. Sensing our hesitation to proceed with a decision to euthanize, she spent another 20 minutes reassuring us that it was the right decision based on her clinical experience and assessment of our kitty. My wife is a medically trained professional and she desperately needed another medical professional to validate her decision. Dr. Erin Hogan sensed that need and fulfilled it. Next she carefully and patiently explained the procedure and asked if we had any questions. She moved slowly and gently as she administered a sedative and allowed us to cuddle with our baby while she was finally free from pain. Every step of the way Dr. Hogan asked for permission to move ahead with the next step in the process. When we were ready, she administered the final injection while allowing us to hold her in our arms. After a period of time, she gently checked for a heart rate and declared that «our baby had her wings». Incredibly comforting! She then allowed us some personal time while she gathered her items to transport our girl to a private cremation. She re-​entered our home with a wonderful Moses basket lined with sheepskin and placed our kitty in the basket. She encouraged us to position her perfectly and encouraged us to spend as much time as needed with her. Finally, she placed a warm blanket over her, tucked her in tightly and allowed us to carry her out to her van. She hugged us, reassured us and allowed us to kiss our kitty goodbye one final time. She gently lowered the tailgate and told us to call her any time if we needed anything at all (she left us her personal cell number). While we are grieving tonight, it is far less painful due to this amazing service and this incredibly compassionate and loving woman. This service is not inexpensive but, if you can afford it, it is one of the most incredible separation services you will ever experience in your life.

It’s hard to write this review given the circumstances behind it, but I just have to give props to Lap of Love and everything they did for us and our pitbull, Atticus. From the first phone call to schedule the appointment to the follow up afterwards, they really went above and beyond to make us feel important and comfortable. Our young pittie was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at 1 ½ years old and the last 4 months of his life were rough. Dr. Melissa Roth and the Lap of Love helped us through the difficult process, explaining everything, and answering all our questions. The price may seem steep for some but I felt it was definitely worth every penny. We opted for the private cremation as well, so our total was a bit higher. Again, definitely worth every penny.
I scheduled the appointment on a Friday evening because I knew I would be a mess at work the next day had this been on a weekday. We also threw a big party for him and his favorite people (my cousin, my brother-​in-​law, and my best friend). I took a half day to prepare a huge prime rib roast as his last meal and also picked up a dog cake for him. A few of our family members were stuck in traffic and the roast wasn’t ready in time so timing was off. Dr. Roth showed up right on time but she was extremely patient and sat with Atticus for his dinner and dessert. By no means did we feel rushed at all.
We couldn’t have asked for a more kind and intelligent doctor for Atticus In the end, as painful as this process is, our pup went with dignity and without any pain so I will always be grateful for Lap of Love.

I knew that it was time for Gypsy our 15 year old Golden to move on to a better place and leave the pain and suffering but it was still one of the hardest decisions that we faced. We knew that taking her to the Vets office would make a scary situation for Gypsy and us. After being with us for 13 years we wanted her to go peacefully. After calling around we chose Lap of Love. Dr. Melissa arrived as scheduled and immediately put us all at ease. She was kind and caring and truly cared about our and Gypsy’s comfort. The procedure was quick and Gypsy went off to sleep for one last time. I hope to see her again when it is time. Thank you Dr. Melissa for making this a little less painful.

This is the first time I’ve ever posted a review on Unilocal,but feel strongly enough to do so, because of how impressed we were with the service provided. When we realized that we needed to help our cat, Tigger, of 19 years, leave us peacefully, without pain or fear. We did not want to put him through the upset of being taken out of his home, and driven to the doctors office. This was a time when he needed comfort most. I previously had a cat, that was dying, and she used every bit of energy she had left, to avoid being put into the pet carrier and into the car. It was a very upsetting experience, both for her and me. I never want to put another pet of ours through that again. Dr. Mary Gardner was a terrific, and caring doctor. She was very gentle as she talked to him and stroked him, while administrating a sedative. He never showed any fear of her and reacted, by purring, until he fell asleep in his favorite bed. Although it was a difficult time for us, we were very relieved to find a better way to help our beloved friend leave us, without a struggle. Dr. Mary Gardner, truly, has a special calling. She, genuinely, exudes a passion for helping animals. We will always be grateful for her assistance in this difficult situation. Thank you to the others that posted reviews previously. It helped when I was searching for a way to help my cat at the end of his life.

Hardest thing we’ve ever had to do. Dr Melissa Roth made it as comfortable as possible for us, as well as, for our Pitbull Porkchop. 15 years with this guy and so many cherished memories. It was so hard to say goodbye, but Dr Roth helped us thru this difficult journey. None of us make it out of here alive, and I’m glad we could ease and be present for that transition with Porkchop. Hands down I’d refer Lap of Loves services from beginning to the end they’ve been great! Thank you!

Dr. Melissa Roth was exactly what we needed. She was so gentle, loving and put all of us at ease when it came time to put our dog down. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to be there for us and our dog during this time.

I don’t know where to start! We finally chose to say goodbye to our beloved Turbo, an Aussie we had for 11 years. He grew up with our kids and was one of the family. Our hearts were so heavy with this tough decision, but he was failing fast.
I called Dr Gardner, she came out in the evening to help us. Her passion and love for animals is so apparent, she is gentle, kind, and has amazing empathy for those of us who are grieving. The goal was for our pet to be calm, loved, and comfortable… and that was exactly how it was. Every detail was taken care of in a quiet, and professional manner. Dr. G even saved some fur for us to keep along with a beautiful cast of our dogs paw.
What an amazing experience, I can’t say enough positive things about our choice to have him end his time on earth at home in his own environment around those he loved. I would never consider a hospital setting should I need something like this again.

If you are experiencing the tough decision of euthanasia, then this is the way to go! I am overjoyed at how wonderful my experience with letting my pet transition. They provide the best service in the world! They are counselors, consultants and gentle in how they approach this difficult time. They are really like ministry as they come into peoples lives to help them let go! I am so thrilled my beloved pet left this earth with such a wonderful ceremony. I appreciate Dr. Olivieri so much and I highly recommend this company! She came in such short notice and they treat your animal with such pride and dignity! They also include memorabilia and a Facebook memorial of your pet! Well done!
