Wizard Quest

I went to Wizard Quest with a big group of 20-​somethings a couple of times. Honestly, this place is surprisingly fun. You run around trying to find wizards while solving puzzles. My only wish is that they would change it up more often and more dramatically. It’s pretty much the same no matter when you go, but if you’re a first-​timer then definitely go. Adults & kids will have a lot of fun (even if you think you won’t, and you’re only there for the kids, you’ll get into it).

When I began I was like wizards, whaaaaaaaat? But after I found and freed a few of them I was like yeah, plight of the wizard. I get it. If you have one hand, please lend it to them.

I’ve been coming to the Dell’s and have never been here until now. Super cool and fun. Went today and wish we had more time than the 90 mins that we were given. Going back tomorrow!

Way cooler than my friends and I thought it would be. Focused more on mature nerds than you gets kids. Very mystical. Truly loved it.

So much fun! My boyfriend & I went while we were on vacation and ended up getting wayyy too into it! :D It was challenging but still fun to explore all the different rooms and hidden doors! There are some tight squeezes especially for my boyfriend who is linebacker sized, but he still had fun exploring & trying to figure out the clues! We both agreed that the instructions could have been clearer at the beginning as we were both very lost for quite awhile and unsure of what to do exactly. Once we got the hang of it, we were running around like crazy trying to solve the clues & find the Wizards! This did not deter our experience in any way as we had a blast and can’t wait to go back!

Since I was 11 I’ve come to wizard quest every year when I visit the dells (12 years). I always make time for it because it’s been one of my favorite attractions. It’s always been a fun enjoyable experience… Until two weeks ago. I encountered an African American employee named Jimmie. When my mom asked if there was any discount or coupons. He said no. She then inquired upon a military discount as I enlisted in the army a few months ago and leave for basic October 26^th. When I couldn’t produce a military I.d. he then again said no I’m sorry. Up to this point he had been courteous and friendly.
What he next said left me speechless. «you’re throwing your life away» I was shocked. I had no idea what to say. I replied with how so. He said there’s much better uses of your life and I said I can’t think of any as I’ve Allready received my bachelor’s degree in business with a sales emphasis and have always dreamed of a higher purpose. The gentleman behind me then said «cuz you’re not throwing your life away by working here?» I then stepped in and said «that’s why this country is amazing, we all have the right to our opinions. That’s what I want to fight for» he then said we’ll you’re not fighting for me. I couldn’t believe he somehow passed an interview to get hired. My sister’s boyfriend then said «no one agrees with you not even your wizards inside»
He then actually said «well I think that’s there’s a few people here that agree with me» implying other employees might actually feel the same way. I finally just handed him the money and started to walk inside. But before I did I noticed his pinky nail is about a half an inch long and all the others were filed down nicely, your employee is a coke head, how the hell did you not notice that. I will never be back again and am very dissapointed. I was unable to enjoy Myself and have told countless other people about your horrific downsloap in customer service. Overall I’m super dissapointed because I used to love going there.

This place sucked! The graphics and «special affects» are extremely half done. They also put you on a time limit of 90minutes. Which isn’t so bad if you have multiple people but being that I was on my own I barely had time to find one wizard, and had to pay for more time. Which was wasted as I was never able to find the other wizards. I also have really bad clostrophobia. When I started the game I asked about the tunnels and slides and if there was a way around them, I was told to just ask the crew for help. I was lied to, as none of the cast wanted to help me and I ended up just wondering around the entire time. In the end the only good thing that came from this trip, was that I got a 5% discount at the popcorn store next door.

My husband and I are in our early 30s, and went there last week for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading other reviews, but I ended up having a lot of fun and so did my husband. I think they could use better instructions before you start, but we figured it out after a few minutes and managed to free all the wizards, with just a minute to spare. We went with the medium level. If I understood it right, the only difference between the levels was that if you choose easy, they give you more hints on where to go for the answers to the questions. At medium, the employees will give hints, but only if you walk up to the desk and ask. At the hard level, they cannot assist you. We had an hour and a half, and it flew by quickly.
As a bit of a germophobe, I was pleasantly surprised to see an employee walking around cleaning and using Lysol on various surfaces. If you go, try to answer as many questions as possible before entering them into the computer kiosks, since you lose 5 glimmers each time you log in. If you answer incorrectly, you can go back to the locations to re-​check the answer and try the question again.
Overall, we had fun and will likely return on a future trip to the Dells!

We went there after a very long day and were super excited to go, but when we arrived, we didn’t receive any customer service or help. In our group we had 5 kids. The oldest, 16, said it was so boring and dumb and unstructured.
The next, 12 said that it was not at all organized very confusing, not very clean, and was too scary for little kids.
The middle child, 10, said that it was terrible and confusing and ruined her whole trip.!:(
The next, 8, said it was dumb and scary.
The youngest, 4, said it was scary and almost peed his pants in most parts.
All in all, if you
A) hate claustrophobic areas
B) dislike the dark
C) are not flexible
D) are not able to climb in the McDonald’s play places
E) don’t like weird lighting
F) don’t like animations
G) aren’t good at solving riddles
…
Then you would probably hate this place too.

Today marks our 4^th visit over the course of the last several years… My son absolutely loves this place! Definitely need parents to help younger kids out, and be prepared for some tight squeezes and the need to climb through some tunnels, into some ball pits, etc. Prices are a bit on the high side for a 90-​minute indoor Dells activity (in my opinion at $ 14.99 for ages over 11), and I’ve found it difficult to find discounts unless you tie it to a visit to Ripley’s (located next door).
All in all, a great activity for kids of all ages, especially on a rainy day. We definitely recommend.

We went at the end of a long pool day with our 3 and 7 year old. It was a blast! The 3 yo didn’t appreciate it as much and was a little nervous at some of the dark areas but all in all, we had a great time. We did the medium difficulty challenge, so could ask for hints but we made the mistake of not asking for help and ran out of time without finishing the quest. Our 7 yo wanted to keep going and we had to promise to come again (and that other families would set the Wizards free). There is a fair amount of crawling through tunnels and climbing up narrow spaces, so be sure to have at least one person willing to do that! Also, many of the answers needed are found just be observing the scenery, so don’t expect them to be written out! We will definitely be going next time we are in the Dells!

All in all a fun time. Even if you don’t get the finding the wizards thing, watching others go through it is exciting. Our «Ranger Adventurers Assistants» were attractive and attentive, and Andy in particular was entertaining, and you could tell he enjoyed his job.
Some of the exhibits are starting to look a little tired. I think a deep clean, especially dusting, and sprucing up would be in order before it gets too busy. Similarly, some areas looked surprisingly still under construction, although obviously lay untouched for a long time.
We went with the right age kids… three 13 year old boys. They loved it! The «Ranger Adventurers Assistants» also allowed us a room off the souvenir shop to enjoy a modest birthday party. Again, the staff was friendly and helpful.
Not a place for germophobes. Everybody touches everything, so bring sanitizer!
Recommended for rainy days, or days when it’s so hot you cant stand it anymore. It helps to have kids that can fit into areas that adults may find a challenge, although anyone under 30 would get a kick out of the slides, ball pit, and tiny doors and hidden areas.
Not recommended for those with limited mobility or a short attention span. Small children may soon become bored and cranky.
The questions sometimes do not correspond to the right area; an easy fix for a good programmer.
If fantasy/​role playing games are your thing, then this is the place to go for sure. If one overlooks the short-​comings mentioned, it will be a great time for all. Remember, under the dragon’s scales, she hides the gold.

So much fun! Worth the money and the time. it takes a little while to understand what you are looking for, but kept me engaged for the 90 minutes I was there. Great place!

BEST TIME OF MY WHOLE TRIP! We got here right before they closed at 11pm and had the run of the place with one other couple. Amazing displays and environment, challenging but fun puzzles/​questions. Favorite room had lots of doors and a pillar with drawers in it, really felt cool to solve that part. Would spend all my money here if i lived in town! Staff was very helpful and the 90 minutes is the right amount of time to complete. Thanks for your follow up email to me Mr. Gehrke, I wish you all the best! And i will be back as soon as i can!

Went here with the family to try it out, as recommended by friends. The theme revolves around magical elements: fire, air, water, and earth. Each theme has its own physical play area, scattered with puzzles, hints and tips, and interactive physical obstructions. Being on a team with the family is fun, since we divided the questions up between all of us. While some of the themes do have some weird challenges (fire’s ball pit requires that you go «underground» to solve a puzzle) they are optional as well. Other than that, you pretty much are immersed into a huge Wizard World by yourself. The staff that are present in the area are friendly, but they don’t exactly provide much help or make the experience any better. Although we didn’t finish in time, it was still a fun ride nonetheless.

I highly recommend Wizard Quest! It was so much fun that we went twice!
It is very well done. There is little doubt that those who run this place really enjoy their work. They’ve created a magical fantasy world, full of secret passages and puzzles.
If you are into fantasy — wizards, fairies and the such — then this place is a must for you!
Our party had 4 adults and 2 children (aged 11 and 16). Everyone was impressed with the level of detail. On our first visit, we freed only 1 wizard. On the second, we freed 3.

This is my FAVORITE place to go to in the Dells. Whenever I make a trip up there I have to stop in!
I don’t really go through it to free the wizards and get the discount but I do enjoy answering the questions and exploring. The awesome thing is that they change the questions and locations of the wizards so it’s always something new. Reading the other reviews though I am surprised at how many people have problems with crowds. Maybe I’m just lucky but I’ve never been in a group of more than 10 people.
Overall I highly recommend wizard quest if you’re looking for something new and exciting. I love it!

A decent adventure.
My fiancé’ and I went here on our recent trip to the Dells. The waterparks were basically human soup and zombie-​walking mile long lines, so we decided to go off the beaten path so to speak. As we are both fans of fantasy and the place looked fun, so we checked it out. All in all it was a fairly fun (but somewhat exhausting) way to spend 90 minutes.
The good: A fun mix of a funhouse, an RPG, and brain teasers/​riddles. Some of the puzzles, obstacles, and scenery were very cool and interesting. Although not cheap, it wasn’t expensive either and you get your moneys work and a good workout (both physically and mentally) from the experience.
The bad: I could see this place being hellish if it is crowded (luckily it wasn’t too bad when we were there). And the quests/​questions/​riddles can be somewhat confusing and oddly questioned/​positioned and definitely too hard for most children. Also the whole thing seemed too «busy». Some of the exhibits are very cool, but seems like they tried to cram as much as they could into the space. They either need a bigger space, or reduce some of the «clutter» and concentrate on quality over quantity. Plus the «prize» for busting your mind and body for 90 minutes? A discount at the gift shop and surrounding participating stores. Seems kinda cheap for what you have to go through, maybe hand out nice certificates or a button at least.
The ugly: The acting… during the introduction, we nearly walked out because the Wizards intros were so lame and poorly acted. And this is a fantasy based adventure game… they should make their «Ranger Adventurers Assistants» look the part instead of just a boring work-​shirt and the «helper» we had didn’t really know her stuff at all and spent about 10 minutes babbling while we were trying to get going.
All in all though, it was much better and far more fun than we were expecting. Some of the obstacles were fairly challenging for the two of us, but still rather fun. I would suggest wearing jeans at the very least and preferably knee pads because there is a fair amount of crawling around.
So if you are in the area and looking something fun and different to do, you could do far worse than check out Wizard Quest.

I actually had a better time than I thought I would have. We had a blast once we figured out what to do. We completed the advanced course freeing all four wizards with 4 minutes and 350 glimmers to spare.
Our strategy was to answer all the questions in all four realms before freeing wizards. That’s a flawed strategy. We nearly ran out of time and had way more glimmers (i.e. points) than required to complete the course in much less time.
Basically you search through obstacles looking for hints and answers to questions. You find these «ATM» like machines throughout the course that you scan and then answer questions. The thing is it cost glimmers to scan in, so you really should wait until you answer most the questions in a realm before scanning in. It takes x quantity of glimmers to free a wizard but when you free one you get over a hundred glimmers, so you don’ t really need to answer all the questions to win. However that is the fun part searching for clues and answers.
We went during the off season, so it was too crowded. It takes 90 minutes to complete (and win).

This place is a blast. We went on a Friday morning when they opened and we were the only ones there for the first half hour. Having the place to ourselves allowed us to take our time and figure it out on our own without others in the way. We only freed 2 of the 4 wizards, but we stayed past the 90 minutes to figure the others out.
Not sure I would enjoy it as much in a crowd, but in the off season, it was great. Wear older clothes as you will be crawling on the floor quite a bit. And no running in the mirror maze, even a brisk walk can lead to trouble.
