New Orleans Style Home Cookin’

History

Established in 2011.

Owners, Misti Jimenez, born in Alabama and husband Morgan Jimenez, born and raised in Houma, Louisiana have taken their home-style recipes with them to Winter Garden giving all their food the authentic flavors of The Big Easy. As soon as you walk in the door you know you are in for a good time, with their friendly staff, Mardi Gras décor and large flat screens playing all the big games. Whether you eat inside with their customized art from the streets of New Orleans or outside on the patio under the cover of large umbrellas, your mouth will be watering with all the alluring aromas coming from the kitchen. From the traditional Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, Jambalaya, Crawfish E’touffee and Po’ Boys, all of their food is bursting with flavor. There’s a common misconception that New Orleans Cajun style cuisine means hot and spicy but this is not the case, they make their food flavorful. Of course if you are looking to turn the heat up just ask your server and the chef can kick it up a notch.

Business Owner

With purple walls and booths, soft jazz and zydeco music playing in the background The Big Easy, diners might assume they’ve gotten lost in Louisiana when they step into the restaurant. The Big Easy serves New Orleans style home cookin’.

I (Morgan) was born in the bayou in Houma, La., which is about 45 miles southwest of New Orleans and Misti in Huntsville Alabama,

We have lived in Florida since 1996 and in the Central Florida area since 2002.

While neither of us went to a formal culinary school to be chefs, [the menu] is things we’ve been cooking our whole lives, «My philosophy is you don’t have to be a chef; you just got to know what you’re cooking.» We use a lot of old family recipes

However, we do have plenty of restaurant experience We both worked in the cooperate world for many years and in 1996, we owned a restaurant in Delray Beach.

As the economy declined, we began considering other avenues of income — and The Big Easy was born.
