Small dinner but extremely clean. There was only one server working. She did a great job but I was at the door for a little while prior to being greeted. The pancakes were excellent with a nice buttery taste. They could use some better syrup. The reason for just three stars was the eggs. I checked my receipt to ensure I ordered correctly. I ordered eggs over medium and the yolks were completely cooked through. A dinner has to be able to cook eggs properly.

Nice local breakfast joint. Decent food. Nice atmosphere. Definitely a northeast vibe. Great service. Lots of locals which is nice. Reasonable prices. Would come again.

I will not give this establishment my business the owner is horribly rude and barks at his employees. It’s clear he is not capable of handling a breakfast or lunch rush. The food is ok but the service and friendliness of owner/employees could use some work!

Excellent food. Great, friendly service. The bagels are from the Bronx. The Challah French toast is awesome. Very nice inside. Small diner, like diners are supposed to be. Not huge, noisy and dirty, like you find today.

This place is small time America dining at it’s best. You have a local owner serving a rapidly growing population on the Clermont/Winter Garden border with the addition of new housing complexes going in right next store. A small shop that only seats a few number of tables, I wouldn’t be surprised if they looked to move to a large venue sometime soon. They’ve set up some tables outside which is great when it’s not hot out. Wait staff is also top notch — Every drink is topped off fast and someone is always coming around with a coffee pot. I never had to wait to refill my coffee ever, in the handful of times I’ve been here. The smaller venue seems to allow for this level of service, and general good management seems to keep it that way. Food is cheap and diverse — about what you could expect from any diner. Quality never slips. Specials help keep the menu fresh. Really enjoy eating here and enjoy supporting local. Will keep coming back.

My husband and I had breakfast here for the first time yesterday. Cute little spot, casual atmosphere. I had the challah french toast with bacon, which was absolutely delicious… not like the soggy egg bread you get at other places. My husband ordered a platter that included hash browns, biscuits, gravy, and scrambled eggs with ham. Everything was incredibly tasty! The portion sizes were perfect; my husband could barely finish his plate, and I was just able to finish without feeling sick. The service was quick; we didn’t even have to ask for drink refills. Overall, this diner is definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be back!

I wish I could give zero stars, but that’s not an option. After spending a great deal of money at this establishment with my cross-country team, we learned today from the owner that we are forbidden to return to Avalon Diner. Not today. Not ever are we to return there because we have upset some of their«regular» customers. We’ve been going there every Saturday since June excluding 3 or 4 Saturdays, so you would think that we would be valued as regular customers. Apparently not. So, Avalon Diner, I will not come today nor any other day whether alone or with a different group. I will also discourage others from going as well.(Servers of Avalon Diner, you were fabulous and we’ll truly miss you. Thank you for always being kind.)

NY Bagels are terrific… the owners are friendly as is the help. It’s the Cheers of the South… where everybody knows your name! I hesitated to write this because it’s not crowded right now, but as soon as everyone finds out about it, there will be long lines for breakfast and lunch. We wish they had dinner. Check out their pumpkin pancakes that should be starting in September! Their soups are home made as are all the desserts! We eat there at least twice a week. We love this place!

Great place for breakfast. The food was delicious. The meals were delivered quickly. The service was good at the beginning but our waitress never came back to refill my husband’s coffee.

We are regulars here on the weekends. It’s definitely the best breakfast spot in town. The food is great and something about their coffee is on point. The service is always great and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. If you’re like me and choose family owned businesses over chains, this place is for you.

I eat here from time to time and I’m never disappointed. Good food and nice clean restaurant. The owner is nice he comes around and greets you and talks to you. Corn beef hash is really good!

The food is decent, but the reason I only gave it two stars is because their portions are ridiculously small. Twice I have ordered take out breakfast and both times portions were ridiculous. The home fries and hash browns aren’t enough to feed a child. The side order of bacon gets you two strips of bacon, same as the sausage. The toast and muffin were almost burnt both times and barley had butter on them. Each omelette meal is about $ 9, plus bacon/sausage $ 3, for two meal comes out to $ 23, but for the price portions seem very cheap. Will not order again.

Near Stoney Brook West subdivision. I would have never found this little jewel without Unilocal.Great NY style breakfast spot with good bagels, breakfast of all kinds, pies & brownies. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. Prices a little high but worth it for the quality of food and service and being non-chain.

In response to comments below regarding an incident involving children, I was there that day enjoying breakfast and that is not at all what happened. A family came in with two children that were very miss behaved running around from the beginning, interrupting service flow with the wait staff and causing challenges. The children began running around the table and jumping up-and-down making a lot of noise. Nobody in the party of 10 including the parents said anything to the children or try to control them, finally an older gentleman with his wife were sitting at a table right where the children were and he raised his voice to the children telling them to stop making a ruckus and calm down. the father became very angry who then stood up waving his finger using the words«Jesus Christ» chill out I will handle it don’t talk to my children that way. He continued to stand and posture himself looking at the older gentleman across the table raising his voice. One of the owners went over to the table and asked him to please calm down and he continued to raise his voice and become very angry. In the end the owner asked them to please leave the restaurant as they were being completely disruptive along with the children. In my opinion the owner did the right thing as I am tired of going out to restaurants where children are very misbehaved and the parents feel they do not need to parent their children or discipline them allowing them to run freely around the restaurant and other customers. After the family stormed out very upset everybody in the diner was thankful of the owners decision and thanked them as they definitely did the right thing not allowing such behavior in their business to spoil the experience of their other guest. Unfortunately this is just another example of parents not taking ownership of their poor parenting and not holding their children accountable. If that was me when I was a child we would’ve been out in the car and we would never have been brought back out to eat dinner again until we could learn to behave ourselves. I will continue to frequent the Avalon diner, there always warm, welcoming and have wonderful service and food. And in the end all they ask is just like any guest coming to your home that you behave yourself and do not disrupt the peace of others around you.

So now the owner is denying that we were physically threatened by one of his«very important customers». Also permitting his customers to say foul things to a 2 year old is also presumed permissible by his actions. In addition inappropriate behavior by the owner by yelling at his customers and being unprofessional is supported as he has done so himself. I feel for his servers, they actually apologized for his behavior and seemed extremely uncomfortable around him. As stated before«his good ol boy» attitude will take him far, far away from paying customers.

I have visited this place a few times and have always had a good experience. The staff is friendly and the food is served quickly and the quality is good. All the things you would expect from a diner you get here. The one downfall(if you call it that) is the prices are quite high for what you get. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good, but it’s just a bit overpriced.

This is my second time eating here. It was a completely different place. It was full but no one even acknowledged that we were waiting. The entire staff seemed overwhelmed. And interestedly enough the staff was completely different from last time. The food is good though. I am puzzled how to review.

I refer to this shopping center as a Restaurant Graveyard — few things seem to last here(Anyone remember Yabi? Gandolfo’s? WOWFIKA!?); however, Avalon Diner has lasted for quite some time, and for that I’m glad. The employees are very friendly, they are happy to make substitutes, and the food is delicious. The menu isn’t a very creative one, but that’s okay — they have classic comfort food, and it is very tasty! Eager to go back and try it again!
