Badger Creek Kennels

I’ve taken my dogs to Badger Creek almost exclusively — except when I try to make a last minute reservation, and they have no room… but, that’s my fault… lol I know my dogs will be cared for well by people who know dogs and really care for them. It is not convenient for me based on the location, but it is definitely worth it knowing my dogs will be well cared for. The prices are reasonable — which makes a huge difference when going away for more than a day or two. The prices make the location feasible (needing to take them in the day before travel, etc.). They have indoor/​outdoor runs! which is hard to find at a good boarding facility. I so appreciate that they will sometimes post pictures. They have even mailed me a photo of my dogs out playing after their stay! Much appreciated! The runs are in a converted barn, which is cooled very well in the summer. They have cats on the property who keep the area clean of pesky rodents. The cats make one of my dogs crazy! but, it is understandable based on the country environment — so, it’s my dogs issue — she’ll just have to get over it!

I have been taking my dogs here for several years and never worry about them while I am gone. I know that Jeri does a great job caring for my dogs! She takes the time to get to know all of the dogs that stay there and knows my dogs well. The runs are pretty big (especially if you get the indoor/​outdoor run), but they also get a lot of time in yard. They get a lot more exercise than they would at most other kennels.

Good price, offers outdoor/​indoor or combination of both. Washes bedding and toys before they leave, my dogs like it there and will bathe your dogs too. She posted a pic to I could see, she (Jeri) allowed their own food. It is not a typical caged veterinarian place, it is a county atmosphere. Go take a tour before you leave town where ever you plan to board your animals.

Jeri and her staff are terrific. We’ve been bringing our dogs to her for more than ten years (starting when she was at Picadilly). It’s a bit of a drive for us from Sacramento, but it is well worth it knowing the kind of care our animals receive at Badger Creek. Highly recommended.

I just boarded 4 of my special-​needs cats there and had a very positive experience! As a «mawmee» of special-​needs cats, I am very very particular when it comes to their care, and did a lot of Googling between here and the Bay Area (I live in Carmichael) when selecting where to board them while I moved apartments. I had never heard of Badger Creek Kennels, but they came up on one of my searches. They made my list, and I called them and set up a same-​day tour. They were wonderful in accommodating my work schedule, staying open at least 20 minutes past closing time to show me around.
I got a very good feeling about the place right away, and made my boarding reservation on the spot at the end of the tour. I felt comfortable keeping my medical needs cats there knowing that the owner is medically trained and lives on site. I also appreciated that they offered «vertical suites» for the cats, as opposed to small little cubbies like most boarding places! She was okay with me bringing scratching posts and such to furnish it for my cats, which I definitely did.
When I dropped off my cats, her employee was very thorough in going over their list of medications to fully understand them. We discussed their health conditions in detail as well.
While they were there for about 1 week, Jeri was great about keeping me updated on how they were eating and taking pills, and how they were doing in general! She even sent me a video toward the end of their stay of my cat Lilac playing and mewing! Lilac is usually very reserved with unfamiliar people, so I was super pleased to see her being so social and happy.
Nobody needed any urgent medical care while they were there, but Jeri had gone over how she would transport the cats to a local veterinary emergency hospital, VCA Bradshaw, if the need arose. I happen to work for the company that owns that veterinary hospital (at a different location), so I called them and «checked the reference». VCA Bradshaw confirmed that Badger Creek has an account in good standing with them and is very reputable about bringing in animals in early stages of any medical issues! This was really a source of reassurance to me. I left a detailed signed document with Badger Creek authorizing emergency treatment for my cats at VCA Bradshaw (or any other clinic) and a list of emergency contacts and my pets’ regular doctors.
I woke up late on the day I needed to pick up my cats, and only had a few hours before I had to report to work to rush down to Wilton and pick up my cats! I showed up a bit late but Jeri didn’t make me feel bad about it. I was definitely in a rush and kind of scattered, but she was very efficient in getting my cats checked out, getting their things in order, and helping me carry everything to the car.
This was an A++ boarding experience. I had never kenneled my cats before so I was really nervous, but it was very positive. It was a nice little vacation for me as a mawmee to just focus on moving and taking care of my own things, a break from managing my cats! I would absolutely kennel at Badger Creek again, and picked up a stack of flyers and business cards to stock at my work to pass out to clients and coworkers.

I have yet to keep my pets here but I have done some work for them. I am an electrician. I have been out here multiple times to upgrade their compound. It has always been clean. They added air movers and purifiers. All in all good people and good facilities.

I don’t normally write reviews but I really wanted to in the case of Badger Creek.

I first met Jeri while boarding my dog at Piccadilly Farms and followed her over to Badger Creek Kennels when Piccadilly closed down and she opened her own business. Jeri and her staff are wonderful. They get to know each dog and try to socialize them with compatible dogs during their stay. I’ve had several dogs over the past few years and they all seem to enjoy their time at the kennel. A big bonus is that Jeri is a RVT and is capable of caring for animals that need medication or special attention. I’ve seen her at my vet’s office with someone’s dog who got sick during their stay. The facilities are clean, the staff is great and the animals well cared for at their home away from home.
