PampleMousse Bakery

I made a trip up to Wheaton right after Christmas and the PampleMousse is still alive and well. They still have the best macrons I can find in the area and the pâté is still incredible as well. I’m very glad to see that they are still selling quality products. I will always ensure that I make a trip here to get some tasty treats when I am in the area.

Such a cute place with lovely employees! I try to drop in every time I’m in downtown Wheaton, which unfortunately isn’t very often. I’ve tried a number of the macaron flavors (favorites: Lavender, Green Tea, Earl Grey; just ok: Mango, Passion Fruit, PampleMousse; didn’t care for: Lemon) and felt that the prices were fair. I’ve also tried the hot chocolate and the Desert Pear Lemonade, which were both far too sweet for my taste. I think I’ll stick to the macarons from now on! I was especially impressed by a customer interaction I saw the first time I was there: the customer was being difficult, complaining about the prices and such, and the cashier was very kind and patient throughout the interaction. He didn’t correct the customer who mispronounced macaron as macaroon (one of my all time biggest pet peeves!) which must have taken a great deal of self control. Kudos to you, cashier whose name I’ve forgotten!

Amazing place for getting pretty authentic french macaroons in the suburbs! They are a but sweeter than what you often find in France, but not sickly sweet.

I am giving three stars because of the price. The macaroons were delicious — we tried pistachio and dark chocolate — but the bill was almost $ 4.00 for two very small cookies. Definitely a cute place with a very good variety, but at that price it’s too much of a splurge for us.

Average. Macarons are decent but unlike what you get at a French pâtisserie. They are crunch on the outside and very soft on the inside, but way too sugary. The filling is intense in flavor, but the sheer amount of sugar kills most of it. I also had Milk Tea with tapioca and it was too heavy on the milk.
Also, the lady at the register looked and acted as if we murdered her puppy…

Still the best place for macaroons, cupcakes and fruit pâté, jelly, that I have found in a very large radius. I love all the flavors, the inside is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly. You can see that everything is made fresh all the time, you can even watch them make it. I don’t know about some of the other reviews but I have had real macaroons before, not in the US, and these are it, I promise.

Love this place I always come here and the owners are husband and wife and they’re super friendly! My personal favorite is the strawberry macarons and whenever I come by and get them I’ll buy at LEAST 20 so it can last me. And by far my favorite place near me!
They also have cute gift items that consist of macarons or French themed and their bakery is super cute and cozy inside. I also like their bubble tea’s it’s the original bubble tea made with milk not the smoothie it is also the only place near here I can get the teas. So delicious. Mango is my fave!

A bit pricey for macaroons if you ask me. Split a mint chocolate brownie with a friend. DELICIOUS!

This is a cute looking bakery and it’s clean inside. The staff is friendly. However the red velvet cupcake was not edible. The Red Velvet cupcake did not have cream cheese or any dairy in the frosting and the cake portion was dried out and did not contain chocolate. To add insult to injury the cupcake left a really bad chemical taste in my mouth. To sum it up in 1 word, regret.

I went in today with my boyfriend, because I have a thing for macaroons and I was excited! These macaroons did not disappoint. The shop was very cute and colorful and they have a decent range of flavors. They also have bubble tea which also hits the spot for me. The owner of the shop was very sweet and kind. She was welcoming and we were able to chat for a bit. I would recommend this cute place for anyone! :) I’ll definitely make this place as one of my regulars stops.

Honest review: its a cute lil spot in a cute town other then that i wouldnt come again. The best macaroons were the salted caramel and the pistachio other then that they were bad. The reason that they were bad because they use artificial flavors then the texture of alot of them were way to hard. Then like i ordered a tea and it was nothing but artificial flavors n way to sweet might i add all in all cute place to stop n look but a waste of money since everything had artificial flavors.

Went here today. Had lunch at Loi Luang (yum!!) then i headed back to campus. (I’m a grad student visiting Wheaton college.) I saw how bright and colorful pamplemouse bakery was so i decided to check it out. I bought a few macarons. They were good but not amazing. I was also surprised they cost more than the most popular (authentic) macaron bakery in Berkeley California (where I’m from). And when i took them out to eat, one of the «heads» of the macaron came off.. so the feet were too dry and didn’t hold. Yeah, so they’re good if you’ve never been to France or London — or Masse’s Pastries in Berkeley!

Macs are very heavy and SOOO sugary. They’re nothing like traditional macs you get at top shops in France and you will be disappointed if that’s what you’re expecting, but they’re not bad, honestly. I don’t think they’re actually trying to make those french macs, I think they’ve taken them as inspiration and have whitewashed them, americanized them, and have spit out a decent cookie that will probably appeal to more people in the neighborhood, so good for them.
Cookies look great, employees are friendly, and the place is nice. I’d encourage you to try them. I’ll continue to go back from time to time, definitely.

It doesn’t get better than this. It’s perfect macaroons and fresh! So good. I feel like I’m France and I can spoil myself with a delectable taste of their amazing cookies.

I was really excited to come here after reading all the good reviews. For 1 – 5 macaroons, it is $ 1.55 each, while it is $ 1.50 each for 6+ macaroons. We tried the earl grey, pistachio, green tea, chili chocolate, raspberry chocolate, and PampleMousse (grapefruit flavored) macaroons. The actual taste of each macaroon was good, but they hard and were not chewy like I would have preferred. My bf ordered a lychee milk bubble tea, which was VERY ARTIFICIAL tasting. He had to force himself to keep drinking it since he hates wasting food. Overall, I have had better macaroons elsewhere.

Cute little spot in downtown Wheaton. The bakery offers macaroons, cookies, cupcakes, and other bakery items. The have unique French themed gifts. I was able to purchase a sparkly Eiffel Tower ornament. I was not happy with the taste of the macaroon and it seemed very dry. I thought it was a cute shop with great service. I might stop into this spot to look at their gift selection and try another bakery item.

Although I’ve been to France and lived in NYC with food closer to Europe than anywhere in the U.S., this bakery of macarons are the best for its quality and quantity. Normally in NYC, over $ 2 each. This one is younger at least 6 are $ 1.50 each. If you get package of ten at least that’s even better deal. I only have one left from my package of a dozen and I will be missing this place.
The baker, I’m assuming owner as well, very clean courteous and colorful in decorating the place. Usual small businesses of a downtown suburb sometimes overcharges with under the standard, this one didn’t.
Thank God I found my favorite desert in suburbia without resorting to go to city or an expensive bakery in another expensive suburb.

Nice little shop in downtown Wheaton that is colorful and inviting. The macarons are prominently displayed when you walk in with other pastries, cookies, and other sweets as you walk further in.
The macarons are delightful to look at – colorful, round, distinct layers, some with extra little small elements that make them even more beautiful. The macarons themselves have a nice crispy exterior with a dried fruit jelly texture filling. They are a little on the sweet side but the flavors are bright and distinct. Definitely a nice treat if you’re in the area.

PampleMousse is absolutely fantastic. As someone who loves — I mean REALLY loves — french macarons & other pastries, this place is definitely the best you can get in the suburbs. I’ve visited about 3 or 4 times since it has opened, and I am consistently impressed by their business.
I love how their kitchen is so open — it may be small (nothing wrong with that) but it is clean, hygienic, and organized. It’s definitely a nice touch to be able to see them baking in the back; I love watching. Plus their building and décor is decorated so perfectly! Adorable atmosphere; it definitely gives me that français vibe.
As far as their macarons go, the texture is slightly crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside… which is perfect. They also serve cupcakes, croissants, scones, and even fruit pâtes! Plus more. And they have their own coffee blend. I’ve only had the macarons so far, but I definitely will be back to try everything else. It’s on my list, I promise. Especially that coffee.
My only complaint is that there isn’t a whole lot of sitting room. There are some tables inside the shop, but it is somewhat cramped. No biggie though, PM is still a fantastic bakery and definitely worth AT LEAST one visit.

Like. sooo good. And so pretty! And a bit tiny! So cute! Come to think of it, I’m not sure if there even are other places to get macaroons in the ‘burbs.
They have quite a few rotating flavors to choose from, including: lavender, earl grey, passion fruit, chocolate, vanilla, peach, lemon (my favorite), rose, raspberry, strawberry, pistachio, mango, green tea, chocolate varieties, coconut, and their signature PampleMousse macaroon. Each [gluten-​free] macaroon costs $ 1.30 each, which is completely reasonable to me. You can buy them individually or fill up a box.
PampleMousse also has some homemade candies, breads, cupcakes, cream puffs, scones, cookies, and other cute, baked sweets. Cakes can be ordered. Coffee and bubble tea (a new addition) are on the menu to quench your thirst. The bakery’s interior is also charmingly sweet with assorted French décor (many shades of pink), a couple tiny tables, and happy owners that listen to all your feedback and suggestions. You can’t help but feel blissful in here.
You need macaroons? Get them here — you won’t regret it.
