Ba Le Sandwiches

I always buy the already thinly sliced meats to put together my own banh mi. Only thing is, once you open the package, you have to use it within 2 days or the meats will start to go bad and smell.

Small mom and pop shop with limited parking. With that said the Banh Mi Thit Nuing turned out much better than I was expecting. They gave healthy portions of both the meat and veggies (I get the veggies on the side and add them later). I will be returning to this establishment.

Banh mi was alittle on the dry side. 3.25 for the thit ngoi. Not much meat… but enough I guess. Nothing special. Not sure what their specialty is.
There’s a Ba Le in VA and it’s alot better.

Their Banh Mi sandwiches are awesome! The bread is light and not overwhelming like other sandwich places. They add pâté which many other places don’t because of the cost. Pricing is great as well… Ba=Dad, Le=Fast. Fast Dad’s sandwiches!

This has to be my FAVORITE sandwich shop on Bolsa! I will not eat an egg sandwich from any other place!
I have been eating here for quite some time now and every time I eat somewhere else, I always tell myself I should have came to Ba Le.
If you order an egg sandwich, they will actually take the time to fry it up for you while you wait, so be patient! You can tell that most of the workers care about what they are doing. I think alot of family members work there. My favorite «cook» is the mother and daughter.
Love this place. It has been here for over 20 years now because it has great food and everything is made there fresh.
Just to let you know how long I have been eating here, for the first year or two that it was released, I would play the Street Fighter 2 game that they used to have there everyday after middle school.

Annoying I spent over $ 30 there and the lady didn’t know how to take credit. I had to pay cash but was on the road and needed it for other small purchases. Their sandwiches were not that great. Won’t be back! Wish they had other selections to choose from too.

my vietnamese friend told me if I wanted to get good quality vietnamese style meatball, this is the place to go. glad I listened to her and checked out this tiny shop.
well, tiny store with a good selection of the delis, hot foods, drinks, and sandwiches. on top of that, the owner now remembers me after my 2^nd visit. talk about a friendly smile and service.

There is nothing for you here. Move along. Parking in this shopping center is a pain.

Always been a huge fan of their sandwiches for years now. Back in Dallas there were 2 shops out there. My family would go once a week. My favorite is their Special Ba Le Sandwich with no pepper. They used to only cost $ 2 a sandwich, back in the day. You could even buy 5 and get 1 free for only $ 10 without tax. Now it’s $ 2.99 plus tax. I would still come back here. It’s one of a kind. I believe it’s better then Lee’s Sandwiches. The bread is crispy and soft at the same time.

Though my spot is still Banh Mi Che Cali, Ba Le is equally as good and authentic. Ba Le still uses cucumber slices in their sandwich. Many Vietnamese sandwich shops, including Banh Mi Che Cali have eliminate the cucumber slices. The cucumber slices presence, though not critical, are important. It adds freshness and texture to the eating experience. Love their egg sandwich and Xiu Mai (Meatball) sandwich.

I was driving around Westminster just checking out the stores that were lined up in the area, and I look up to see the huge name «BA LE» and in smaller print on the left side of the name, I saw «Banh Mi». I knew that I HAD to try this place.
I tried a Banh Mi Ba Le in Oakland, and I doubt that this deli is related to the one up north, so I wanted to check it out to see what it was all about. I had had a great sandwich at Tan Hoang Huong, so I figured since this deli is in the same area, it might be as good.
My default sandwich of choice — as always, the thit nguoi. Call it «the control» sandwich. Okay, so it wasn’t as great as the one at Tan Hoang Huong, but it was pretty good. There weren’t any bells and whistles, but it left me satisfied, so I’m not going to complain. I was more curious than anything at the mysterious and elusive «Banh Mi Ba Le» that I happened to find two of in two completely different areas.

First off, DRIVING HERE MAY LEAD TO DEATH… by bad drivers.
I won’t say who or what ethnicity in particular simply because it might be mean despite being true… at least in this area.
I really like their egg sandwich (No veggies or soy sauce please!) with pâté. It’s definitely one of their best sandwiches hands down and totally worth nearly dying each and every time.
As for their other things:
Their pâté chaud is rather… salty or at least the meat is. I can’t eat the puff pastry that’s in direct contact with the meat due to such, and their egg rolls are… pretty terrible.
So if your in the mood for a good egg sandwich (Usually over easy, but if the lady cooks it, it always ends up over hard…) then I totally recommend this place.
Other than that, its subject to how you like your asian style french baguette sandwiches.

Fun Fact: «Banh Mi» Ba Le is the original/​first French-​Vietnamese Baguette/​Sandwich shop in the Little Saigon area.
So…uhh…why does it only have like…5 reviews?
My guess is that it doesn’t exactly serve our typical Unilocal demographic, but if a bunch of 70yr old Vietnamese men buy bread and sandwiches from here, I’m going to trust them! ^_​^

Their Egg Sandwich = TASTY!
You can get it with Vietnamese Meat Loaf (Cha Lua,) Pâté, Pickled Veggies, French Butter… and anything else you want on it!
Or…just Eggs and French butter for those who like the simpler stuff! (Tried this too, and I like it… with a bit of Ketchup and seasonings from home!)
Also, you can request a sunny side up egg (opla) or a fried egg for those who don’t like a runny yolk.
So how does Ba Le compare to other Banh Mi places?
I’d say it’s just as good (as a place like Banh Mi Che Cali) ’cause the bread is fresh, and you can request custom sandwiches, which is very cool!
(AND, with it being as old as it is, I dare say that other Banh Mi joints probably got their ideas/​recipes from this place… tee hee!)

This was my go to place, when I was in the mood for an egg sandwiches. Well, I’m not so sure about that any more. This morning I went in to pick up four egg sandwiches (two with Pâté) to take to work. After I got to work, I saw that two of the sandwiches were cha lua. Normally, I wouldn’t have cared but I was so in the mood for an egg sandwich this morning. So I called to let them know about the mix up and the lady there remembered me. She told me that I would have to drive all the way back to the shop with the two cha lua sandwiches to exchange for the egg ones. What the heck are they planning on doing with those two sandwiches? Vietnamese sandwiches are fairly cheap to buy, so it wasn’t the money. It was the customer service that I was looking. Some like a credit for next time or something to bring me back. I know that we can’t expect much service from those kinds of places, but after she told me that I had to return the sandwiches to exchange for the egg sandwiches, health became my greatest concern.

I used to come to this place all the time as it has been around forever. It was and is still my favorite spot to get banh mi sandwiches! I love the ga (chicken) here. Bread is awesome. Way better than the popular Lee’s sandwiches, which practically lock your jaw up. The goi cuon (spring rolls) here are awesome too, but they have gotten expensive. They only give you 2 rolls. The nem nuong is good. Shakes are not. Too sweet.

I love coming here to break my fast. Their fried egg sandwich is absolutely delicious and while there, I would grab a cold cut or BBQ pork sandwich for later. They have the best bread/​baguette in the neighborhood— at very least, it won’t cut the roof of your mouth trying to consume.
Also, the freshly prepared food items (super crispy egg rolls, spring rolls, grilled chicken leg quarter w/​rice, etc.) are excellent, especially in the morning when they’re fresh out the kitchen!
The parking area is small so it gets annoying during the weekends. Busy part of Bolsa, after all. Any other day, I’ve no problem parking. There’s 2 – 3 small tables out front, where I love to chat with my friends over banh mi and café sua da.
Counter service is good, they never let you wait.

Ok 1 review? 1 review folks? BA LE has been around since the opening of Little Saigon probably at least 15 – 20 years now! I’m surprise it only has 1 review. then again most of the people that come here are a bit older and probably don’t speak much English.
I haven’t gone to this place in forever mainly b/​c the parking is such a turn off but I decided to stop by on my way to the shop.
I had a Café Sua Da and Banh Mi Thit Nuong.
Café Sua Da — $ 2.00 — taste like any other plain café sua da. Not very strong or sweet.
Banh Mi Thit Nuong — $ 2.25 Okay this Thit Nuong is the old school style where the meat is EXTRA fatty and more pink than dark charbroiled colored and well done. It was just too fatty for my taste. They did give sauteed green onions (which tastes delicious but makes your sandwich soggy fast!) with large slices of jalapeño. The pickled carrots and daikon were just too sour for me. Almost to the point of sour that you may question if it’s the taste or if it’s gone bad.
Their other items look so yummy too. They were putting out freshly «Rim» Shrimp and Trung Opla (butter fried over easy egg) with pickeled veggies for only $ 3.50! TOO GOOD of a price! But I decided not to get it. Now I wish I did. =(
The thit nuong here is the same style as Saigon Bakery. They also sell other items such as Bo Vien Gan (beef balls with tendon in it) and those looked yummy.
They have Xinh To (shakes) amongst other beverages as well.
For now. it’s a 2. Ill be back for other stuff.

The name is slightly elusive b/​c they offer both Vietnamese & French fares.
This place has been my main lunch staple for God knows how long & may it continue, if possible, indefinitely. Purely for the one simple item among their many other delicious & fresh choices: the egg sub sandwich.
Countless friends I inaugurated for their first bite instantly swears by it too. No other place has yet compared. Sorry Lee Sandwiches, you guys are gonna have to try harder.
Major bonus: Ridiculously cheap – hope they don’t hike the prices just cuz I said this. ;)
Best place for a quick pick up of pâté, fresh baguette, VN sweet ice coffee (yum!) & maybe some spring roll snacks.
