I ordered the canh bun and it was definitely the best one I’ve had so far. The flavors were just right and the portion was perfect. The owner was friendly. Service was quick. The location can get really busy during the day time though. Parking lot is pretty small so I would recommend coming at night like I did.

I specifically went to Thanh Mai Vietnamese Cuisine for their Canh Bun Supon soup. The family owned and quaint restaurant offers a variety of Vietnamese entrees and is located on Bolsa. I arrived for lunch and told the server that I wanted a take out order. After ordering my Canh Bun Supon soup, she told me if I had the time it would be better if I ate it at the restaurant. I KNOW this is true from past experiences. So, with my fast eating skills, it was a done deal. My Canh Bun Supon arrived piping hot which consisted of rice vermicelli soup with shrimp cake, a pork rib, tomatoes, tofu, on choy, lime and that great spicy fermented ground shrimp paste. My soup was perfectly seasoned after I added that spicy ground shrimp paste and had all of the components I luv. My server was correct, you have to eat this soup at the restaurant. Everything was fresh and tasted heavenly. It was so delicious! My soup was FANTASTIC! The best Canh Bun I’ve had in Lil Saigon. I’ll be back to try some of their other dishes… especially their egg rolls & their great customer service! I had an unexpected 5 Stars dining experience!

Clean, family owned, small but with good home cook meals and friendly service. I preferred Cha gio cua over the cha gio chao tom. The goat cari was very nice, not salty like most Vietnamese restaurants.

One of the most authentic Vietnamese foods, especially the phở, that I’ve ever had. Super friendly people at this little family owned place.

I was in desperate need of phở and didn’t want to drive 10 minutes longer to Garden Grove so I settled on this place. It’s a pretty small shop but was able to accommodate my party of 6. I got a large bowl of phở with rare beef and brisket. It was really good and filling and also gave a lot of meat surprisingly! I didn’t like how onions were given on the side because I like my onions all cooked and soggy. The bean spouts were also like steamed or boiled or something and I would’ve preferred to have it raw. The waitress was really nice and really sweet! She was also very patient because I had 3 kids with me and they were all over the place. I appreciated that. She also gave us a small bowl for the kid with scissors to cut up the noodles with. I like that we didn’t have to ask for that. The only thing I didn’t like about this place is that they charge for water. I wanted waters for everyone and they charged $ 0.50 for that because apparently it’s filtered water… I think that’s what restaurants are supposed to be doing anyways so I was like ??? well I got my water bottle so nah lol

The restaurant was pretty small but there were still 2 tables available so we got sat without waiting. I don’t know how it would be on weekends though since we went on a week night. Everything I ate here was sOooooo freakin good. I fell in love with their shrimp & crab egg rolls wrapped in lettuce. I had a spoonful of the phở my boyfriend ordered & the taste of the broth was amazing. Our server was great. She thoroughly explained to us what sauces paired with what dishes & how to wrap all the vegetables with the egg rolls. Usually the servers at phở restaurants just drop off the food to the table & refill your waters without talking to you at all but her service was awesome. There was some kind of lemongrass chili sauce which I drowned all my food in. We ended up using all the lemongrass chili sauce that was left in the container the server gave us. It was that good. Someone who worked there had their cute little daughter at work with them sitting at the table next to us. As if it couldn’t get any better, she was blasting Taylor Swift & Katy Perry music on her tablet which made dinner even more enjoyable. I freakin love them! To top it all off it was our server’s birthday & she gave me, my boyfriend, & our friend a piece of her delicious birthday fruit cake! Dinner was wonderful & our server & the rest of the staff were super friendly. This was by far the best experience we have had at a Vietnamese restaurant. We would definitely come back! I am so stuffed I am ready to pass out.

I’ve been to a lot of phở places and nothing usually stands out. This place is good enough to compare to my grandmas cooking. I will definitely be returning here for my next phở craving. The hostess/waitress was very kind and informative on dishes.

I’ve gone over three decades never understanding what the appeal was about PHO until I found this restaurant. I was working with my buddies in the area and knew that Westminster was known for their Vietnamese cuisine so although busy, i wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to test this Westminster theory out and give PHO one more try, ANDAM I GLAD I DID?! Thanh Mai was the delicious straw that broke this camel’s palate! It’s a small hole in the wall restaurant next to an karaōke equipment store and family owned – nearly missed by my google maps. The daughter who runs the business was working and seated us quickly with a warm smile. The way she described the different dishes we were thinking about ordering made me want to order them all, but instead I was feeling dangerous so I rolled the dice again on PHO. When the PHO arrived, there was a wonderfully savory beefy aroma coming from it that had me drooling. All the vegetables that preceded the soup were fresh and juicy. I broke a little basil off and put it into the hot broth, then I added a little bean sprouts to prep the soup and grabbed my spoon in anticipation. I leaned in for one more big sniff before dipping my spoon in and lifting the broth to my lips where I sipped in the perfection that only hours of preparation and love could produce. The smooth flavors of the broth gently worked it’s way over and through my palate reinforcing what my nose already knew – I NOWLOVEPHO. The meats were tender and fresh. The rice noodles were perfect in texture, taste, and portion. Thank you Thanh Mai for expanding my world! :) m

Hospitality and service from the daughter of the owner was off the charts and the food is great! The food is special because you can taste that the person who made it really cares! That shines through! This is a warm family business with food only a mom could cook!

This is a very special place! The service is some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant of any kind. Thorough, caring, and familial. The food is great, home-style cooking. Best rolls I’ve ever had – ever. The special chili garlic sauce should not be missed.

I came back today to try the phở and was pretty tasty. And parking wasn’t so bad so it was definitely worth it. Service was good. The only thing I didn’t appreciate was she trying to swat the fly buzzing next to me. Since I was the only customer, it would have been nice to wait until I finished. It left a bad taste.

My mom and I ordered a bowl of phở and a traditional pork in coconut milk and lettuce wrap dish?(Can’t remember what it was called) … the food was delicious and the service was even better The lady who served us was really helpful in explaining the dish and the proper way to eat it.. at the table was a sauce homemade by the owner and I wish I had some in a bottle at home She even gave us some ice waters to take with us because it was a hot day 5 stars all the way!

Every time I visit down south, I like to look for a place to try out. I think I hit gold this time. This is a small restaurant with no more than ten tables. Per my sister, it is own by a famous singer back in the 80’s amongst Vietnamese people. With that info aside, the food is amazing. I order Lau Mam for two and their egg roll with vermicelli. Both dishes were delicious. Taste is just perfect. I will definitely come back again for their Lau Mam and egg roll. BTW, service is great.

This is a small restaurant that’s know for their shrimp flavor egg rolls. Although I didn’t eat it, my wife says it’s delicious. The grilled pork in bun thit nuong was grilled perfectly. It’s moist and not over grilled like other places I’ve been to. Other notes: Service — Great Ca Phe Sua Da — prepared traditional Vietnamese style — very bitter. I think they need to ask what other patrons think of this style. I came back for the second time, it’s as good as the first. Added one more star.

Rumored to have the best fried egg rolls in Orange County, I had to come running to this small, family owned restaurant in the middle of Little Saigon. —-The Food— Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio– For only $ 6.95, you’ll get a bowl of grilled pork, 3 three fried egg rolls, pickled carrots, and chopped green onions upon thin, fresh vermicelli noodles. Diced peanuts are sprinkled on top for texture and their zesty, lemon fish sauce is supplemented for taste. LOVE how they give a lot of veggies here too. So do they have the best egg rolls? I CAN’T say that they do, but it’s still one of the better ones in town. I commend this establishment for using Vietnamese rice paper that maximizes the crunch, but my complaints are directed at the filling which I feel is a little undersalted. I do like the contents as it consists of crab, shrimp, and pork though. While their delicious fish sauce does compensate for the lack of seasoning, I have a strong belief that good egg rolls should be eaten on their own. As for the pork provided, it’s grilled well and given in abundance. However, many of them are tendinous, fatty cuts that give it a gummy consistency that I don’t enjoy. Some are tender though. —– Conclusion: 3.5 Stars. Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio is a popular Vietnamese meal that’s my favorite to eat on a hot day. At Thanh Mai, they do a decent job of it. It’s hard NOT to be a fan given the price and portions given here, but if wanting to find the best bun thit nuong, I’d direct you to Hanoi Avenue on Westminster. For egg rolls, my favorite can be found in my mom’s kitchen OR at Tan Hoang Huong on Euclid. Extra Notes: –Accepts credit card –Closed on Tuesdays –The smell of fish sauce is mighty prominent as you enter the restaurant – Beware. –Great service –Décor is clean, but does look tacky –Parking can be difficult if going at lunch –Restroom available

My favorite place to got to for egg rolls, I always get the combination of regular eggrolls and shrimp eggrolls(Cha gio chao) with rice sheets(banh hoi). They give you plenty of fresh veggies too. My family and I love coming here, the food is always great and the service is excellent. The whole family is super friendly and will treat you like a long time friend! It’s a small place but they always try and accommodate guests as best they can and everything is always nice and clean. They have a lot of other good options on the menu too. I also like their canh bun and phở! Definitely a must try if you love Vietnamese eggrolls!
