Wayzata Nissan

I leased a Nissan Sentra in 2013. In Aug 2015 I turned my lease in early for a 2015 Nissan Rogue. I was told that Waysata Nissan would cover the remaining payments on the lease of my Sentra and that if the damages on the car were under $ 500, I shouldn’t owe anything else on the Sentra (costumers get a $ 500 wear/​tear voucher for damages if you re-​lease or buy another vehicle with Nissan). I waited and waited for a bill for my new Rogue and never got one. In Dec 2015 I called Nissan and informed them I had not received a bill. I had also received a phone call from a debt collector saying that I owed $ 1007.34 on my Sentra and that they had no record of me leasing a new car. Supposedly, the breakdown of the charges were $ 661 for remaining monthly payments on the Sentra which was to be covered by Wayzata Nissan for re-​leasing or buying another vehicle, $ 395 for a disposition fee which is supposed to be waived when re-​leasing or buying another vehicle, and $ 255 to replace the cracked windshield which should have been covered under the $ 500 wear/​tear voucher for leasing a new vehicle. I informed the debt collector that Wayzata Nissan was supposed to cover all of those charges because I leased a new vehicle. I also informed my salesperson, and he gave me a number to call to try to resolve the matter, which had me on the phone for days trying to figure this out on my own. I went back and fourth between Vital Recovery, Nissan corporate, Wayzata Nissan, the finance department, and random numbers that were given to me to try and figure out what was going on. Wayzata Nissan then sent me a new lease agreement to sign and send back because the original form was lost, not filed, etc. I went in to Wayzata Nissan to speak with someone before signing to make sure that the charges on the Sentra weren’t going to effect my credit. I ended up having to come back another day because the owner was out of the office. I returned a few days later to talk with them again to make sure that this was not going to hit my credit. The finance department told me that it wouldn’t and that all of the collections were done internally and the matter did not get reported to the credit bureaus. The owner of Wayzata Nissan also promised to make sure that it didn’t and if it did get reported, he would fix it. He also said that he would check to make sure that this did not happen. Four days later, I applied with a mortgage company to get a loan to buy a house. The next day, I received my credit report which showed that the $ 1007 charge from Nissan had, in fact, been reported to all three credit bureaus and had hit my credit on two separate occasions (12÷15÷15 and 1÷16÷16). I presumed it would be hitting my credit a third time (2÷15÷16), 6 days after I received my report. I went in to Wayzata Nissan to tell them they needed to fix it and the owner informed me that he couldn’t do anything because his financing person was out for the day. After going back and forth, he said he could try and make some phone calls but could not promise me anything. He refused to take any action at all while I was there. I left and went to Coon Rapids Nissan to get advice or help from them. The person that helped me made one phone call to Nissan and gave Nissan my new VIN # for my new leased car which informed them that I shouldn’t be charged for the disposition fee and the wear/​tear voucher. These two charges represent half the charges that were showing on my credit report that I had been trying to get taken care of for a month with Wayzata Nissan, and Coon Rapids Nissan took action to get rid of them within an hour. I have been house hunting the last three weeks and I found two potential houses that I was hoping to put an offer on. But because this charge was reported to all three credit bureaus, my credit fell below the score necessary to obtain financing, so I am unable to purchase a house until this is fixed.

I was working with Jack Kelly on the purchase of a used Nissan Leaf from Wayzata Nissan. He seemed to repeatedly play games with the pricing by changing the numbers as we were working through the negotiations and purchase paperwork. He made a big show of mocking what he claimed was a «misunderstanding». I would have believe that if it was the first or second time. But changing the price several times in one transaction? Seems pretty fishy. Heck — he was even initially trying to write it up for over their own advertised price!
This dealership is bad news and their Unilocal rating reflects that. I walked out after wasting 2 hours. Stay away!

Edit 4÷30÷2015: The preowned manager, Arnold Thoms, reached out to me to discuss my experience at Wayzata Nissan yesterday. He was very upfront that things shouldn’t have happened this way and that he wants to do whatever he can to earn our business. I’ll update when I have more info.

I’ve been to this dealership 6 or 7 times shopping for cars over the last few years. At every opportunity the sales staff is rude and doesn’t seem to know anything but the most superficial details about their cars. I was interested in an all eccentric leaf and none of the salesmen could tell me anything about the maintenance schedule, range, reliability etc. Worse yet, no one cared to find out any of the answers to my questions and get back to me.
If you need anything Nissan related, be it parts, service, or sales please consider Wayzata Nissan. I’m not affiliated with them in any way, but they are far and away the best Nissan Dealer I’ve visited, especially in the twin cities area.

I purchased my new Nissan from Wayzata Nissan in April 2014. The salesperson was pretty helpful and easy to work with during the process. The rest of the staff are an entirely different story.
During the financing process, I asked specific questions about my current vehicle payoff and I stated if anything changes to just let me know. Well, she decided to not payoff my vehicle and not inform me and treated the issue like it was my fault.
When I received the vehicle, there was a scratch which they agreed to fix. I was told it would take two days. I called immediately to schedule and was told, no way, it’s three days. I had to wait two and a half weeks to get the car in and they were supposed to supply a courtesy car. I arrived promptly at 8AM on a Monday, my courtesy car arrived for me after 9AM. I had not heard from them midday on Wednesday, I called and was told «I do not need to be calling them, the car is obviously not ready. They will call me when they have an update.» They did call on Thursday to tell me they needed another day because they damaged a part and needed to order a replacement. On Friday they finished. Five days to fix a two inch scratch with no customer service skills.
About 60 days later, I received a bill for the courtesy vehicle they provided for the five days in the amount of just under $ 1,000 that was due immediately. I called and they told me it would corrected. A few weeks later, I received a second bill. I called the company about the bill and was told they would not speak to me about it as it had been turned over to collections. I had to complain to Nissan and complain to the State of Minnesota in order for Wayzata Nissan to resolve their issue with their subcontractor. They constantly blamed their subcontractor and never once took responsibility for their poor customer service. I would NEVER do business with them and regret giving them any business. I do like my car, but it will be serviced at another Nissan dealership. At the end they did offer me $ 50 in service gift cards which I returned telling them there was no way I would be returning to their business again.

I financed a car through there finance department and after finally driving the car home which is about an hour and a half drive I found out that the cars transmission doesn’t engage as it should and the car jerks and pops in and out of gear making the RPM’s jump, it also has a loose or broken engine mount that didn’t get replaced before I bought the car and I brought it back within 30 days to address the issue and said it wasn’t going to get fixed for free and wanted me to wait for a warranty I purchased with the car to kick in knowing full well that the problems were pre existing and they want to put it on the warranty company to pay for it which is totally unethical and a bad way to do business, I dealt with ken dube and I wish I would have had a professional look at it and test drive it. Now they won’t pay for it and if the warranty won’t either then I end up having to pay out of pocket. I wouldn’t recommend Wayzata Nissan to anyone looking for an honest dealer with the customers best interests at heart.

I will start by saying overall I am happy with my car and in the end that is what counts, but that does not mean that there were not some bumps in the road along the way. I will start with the positives. I was happy with the price I paid for the car, and there was a small ding in one of the doors which they agreed to have fixed, and it was. I was however unhappy with the fact that when I picked the car up the interior was not detailed at all. The rear floor mat was simply thrown in the rear of the car, and I found multiple bits of trash still scattered throughout the car. I have never bought a car where the dealer did not get it looking clean and neat before the customer picked it up. One of the key fobs I was given looked as if it had been run over by the car itself. I was told it would work with the simple change of a battery, it did not. I bought a new fob and they did agree to reprogram it free of charge. The cd player did not work, and there was a smell of fuel in the car when it idled which was not detectable during the initial test drive.. Fortunately it was still under the factory warranty and the local infiniti dealer took care of these issues. I would guess that there was as much attention paid to the mechanical functionality of the vehicle as the interior detailing. It may not be a bad idea to have your vehicle inspected by a secondary mechanic. Finally a customer should not have to call 4 times to have their initial deposit refunded. Seems like that would be a fairly simple issue to resolve, but perhaps there is more to it than I am aware of. In the end like I said I do enjoy my car. I would probably not elect to purchase again from wayzata nissan. The negative issues during this transaction outnumbered the positive and therefore wayzata nissan gets 2 stars from me.

If you are woman buying a car, don’t bother with Nissan of Wayzata. I went into the dealership, waited and waited and waited for somebody to come and help me and no one did. They all just sat around chatting with each other and not paying attention to their customers. I really won’t bother buying from Nissan of Wayzata ever.

Recently purchased an Infiniti G37X from Ken Dube. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable with my choice as I was in between two. He was very helpful in pointing out the pros and cons of the two cars.
One thing I DID forget to ask for was the service records, but have contacted Ken about it and expect to have an answer shortly.

I would have to say that this is one of the worst places to buy a car. First I test drove a used car that I liked, but when I put on the brakes it would shake. My rep said that it was just because it hasn’t been drove in awhile and it would be fine. I thought it was a little weird but wasn’t too concerned. The next day I came to fill out the paperwork and wanted to test drive it and I had to take another guy with me… which is BS that the rep has to drive with you… most places just gives you the keys and you have to give them your license. Well I decided that I wanted to really test drive it so I took it on the highway and pressed on the brakes and it really shook. This guy said there was something wrong with the brakes even though I ask the other guy to have the brakes looked at them. THEN he said that the service guys must not have thought it was a big deal. I was like are you crazy! The whole freaking car is shaking! He played it off as it was no a big deal. Then he wanted me to pay to have the brakes fixed. I was like are you crazy… I don’t want to buy a car and then have to fix it. Finally after a much heated conversation they agreed to have the brakes fixed which they did.
The final straw when I signed everything and started to drive away there was NO gas… hardly enough to get to a gas station. I called and they said that they do not fill up used cars. THAT IS CRAZY. What a cheap cheap cheap dealership. I would not recommend this place!
