Express Tire & Auto Service

Was about to drive cross country and three of my tires had gotten quite leaky. Brought the car by Express Tire Watertown the day before and they quickly identified the problem and fixed them, which in my case involved sanding off corrosion on the wheels and resealing the tires. They also balanced the wheels.
24 Hours later, the car was all packed and we set out on the 90 only find something happened with the wheel balancing, probably a weight peeled off. Well this where Express Tire really stepped up. Brought the car back and they immediately took it in, rebalancing all wheels and giving the suspension a full check. All for free and right away. They were polite and professional the whole way. Never pushed hard to sell extra service either. Highly recommended!

We went here a couple of years ago and had a few tires replaced. Today one of the tires wasn’t holding air. Sure enough, there was as nail in it. They fixed FREE OF CHARGE. What great and speedy service during a holiday week!

Came in to get a tire repaired. They were polite, they were fast, and they were cheap. What more can you ask for?

Remember customer service? It’s alive and well here. I have spent big bucks but never felt ripped off. Darren (the owner) is a straight shooter. I trust him and his team. I’ve had to bring my car back but he’s always made it right. The free loaner car is just icing on the cake.

I have been with Express tires for 5 years now. They have always done a great job. A year ago I moved from Watertown to Woburn, and the 2 occasions I went to Sear in Burlington out of convenience, I regretted it. The Express Tire staff is friendly, they know their customers, and I never had a problem with the car. Did I mention they will give a car for the day when they work on yours? Once I had requested a loaner and the day I showed up and they were short? They rented a car for me and dropped me of at the rental place. Brought them back the rental back at the end of the day and they took care of it. Now, that is some customer service!

I’m greatly disappointed with this shop. At first, I liked them and their friendly and convenient service, but they did work on my car that was unnecessary and expensive, and they sold me tires that were fairly priced, but not cheap either, and were not balanced properly and weren’t a good fit for the car, and caused vibrations on the highway… they also misdiagnosed another problem, and overall, I’d say that they are not competent mechanics. I would advise against going to Express Tire, both for repairs and for tires.

I bought snow tires from Express Tire around 8 years ago. It came with free rotation of the snow tires to my regular tires. After the 2 or 3^rd year I sensed that Express Tire really didn’t want to honor their promised of free changing of the tires twice a year. (putting the tires on and off). I stored the tires in my basement instead of with them for a fee. I tried using Express tire to change the oil but they didn’t do it correctly. And each year they kept finding new things wrong with the car making up stories of what needed to be done– stuff that my regular mechanic said wasn’t necessary. This past Oct. I came to have the snow tires put on. Today I came to have them removed. I was told before they looked at the car that I would need an alignment. They did it but then told me that they had never changed the tires last Oct. 2014 but just rotated them. They blamed me for not speaking correctly! Rotation did not mean replace the tires. But I had been coming year after year for this and always said that my snow tires were in my trunk. My poor husband drove around in this terrible winter of snow with standard tires. I am glad he wasn’t hurt. These people are crooks and unscrupulous. II won’t use them again– but isn’t that what they wanted! To never have to take the snow tires off and put them back on again year in and year out, even though when you buy the tires it is part of the deal!!! For some reason there are lots of rave reviews for this place. They have been trying to get money out of me for years, but not doing the right job, that takes the cake. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

I can’t say enough good things about this business. Darren and his staff always come through with a solution when you need it the most. Usually when it comes to tires it’s a reactionary situation. Every time I go there I have some sort of issue problem that I needs a quick turnaround and Darren is always able to and provide a solution at a very fair price. I would much rather use a local business like this than a big box that has no customer service. The free loaner car is a big help as well.

I’ve had two positive experiences here in the last 6 months, when I purchased new tires and new brakes. Each time I felt the price was reasonable and the service was above average. I wasn’t «upsold» but they helped me find the best product for me and my situation.

I got 4 winter tires from this place. They were informative about my choices, they were kind and professional when I went there and changed the tires quickly (I went there in early morning).

Darren is the best! Getting me in for new tires just ahead of the snow, despite repeated reminders that I would need them earlier this winter! Seems like everyone is coming in here today and yet service is still fast. Check the website for some great coupons!

I had my car serviced with 4 new tires, balanced and alignment on Saturday. I was told it would take 1 ½ hours. The total Job took 45 minutes and I was out the door ahead of schedule. I was very pleased with the service and the quality of the workmanship. I would definitely recommend them.

I’m not what you’d call a giver here on Unilocal.I take and then I take some more… reading reviews and then visiting these establishments with absolutely no intention of adding my feedback to help out others. I had this same intention on a recent Friday morning as I noticed a giant metal screw sticking out of my front driver’s side tire.
After confirming that my go-​to dealership service station wouldn’t be able to throw a new set of tires on until Monday at the earliest, I realized I was in quite a pickle. To Unilocal!I found Express Tire & Auto Service, gave them a call, and 20min later they were handing me keys to a free loaner with the promise that my car would be ready by 3pm. Amazing service, courteous staff, and super accommodating… they’re now my new go-​to.
I wish they hadn’t left such a great impression on me that I could continue my routine of taking you Unilocalers for granted, but alas. You win this time.

Superior Service, Great Value, and Professional Staff, Management and Service Technicians! These guys at Express Tire Exceeded my expectations from the moment I walked into the shop, to the detailed explanation of the service my vehicle required, to the completed work!!! Most of all, the people who work there are amazing! I was greeted by Lisa, who took down all my information, Gil the service tech, was detailed, very knowledgeable, and thorough in his evaluation, and Darren made me feel comfortable and completed the entire transaction in a timely manner! I recommend anyone who needs vehicle service, there is only 1 choice… EXPRESS TIRE!
Since my first visit, I have purchased tires for my company van, had them complete a front end alignment, and also brought my spouses vehicle for service, which again, exceeded our expectations from beginning to end!!!

I’ve been here twice, first time for my breaks/​inspection/​oil change second time for oil change. Second time I came I had an issue with a broken hub cap, and when I left mad I was called back with an apology and they were cool about replacing it. Derron has a great sense of humor and as a younger woman with my first car, I don’t feel like they ever mess with their customers and they did a great job on my breaks.

Oh, I’m so conflicted but do want to share my experience.
I had «5-​star» experiences here for a good while, but then again I didn’t get too much work done. A tune up and then the few odd things. Everyone that works here is friendly and accommodating, they have free loaner cars which they offer to you happily. They always fit me in when I needed something and would say «just come on down, we’re here» which is cool. I hate having to schedule car appointments a week+ in advance.
I found pricing on par with the Subaru dealership; however, this place was more convenient for me and they will happily give you a loaner whereas its like winning the lottery if you’re about to get one from the dealership.
Sadly, my problem took place on my last and final visit. I needed my check engine light off so my car could pass inspection. I have a very well cared for Subaru with 150,000 miles on it. They looked it over and then gave me the list of all things they needed to fix just to get the car to pass inspection… he priced it out at SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. He then told me that I had two options: buy a new car, or put 6k into this one and it will ‘easily’ go another 150k. Of course I was shocked, and in no way able nor willing to pay 6k to get my car to pass inspection. At that time we were weeks away from our wedding and I had zero extra dollars to put into anything, never mind a huge car repair.
I looked around on Unilocal and found an independent car repairman in Watertown so I called to book an appointment. He had rave reviews so I crossed my fingers. I waited about a week for my appointment and he didn’t have loaner cars but there was an Enterprise across the street so I just rented a car for the day. He called me many hours later and said he looked over my car and the problems that Express Tire declared needed to be fixed were all accurate but it didn’t sit well with him, so he got on the phone with Subaru and went online to check out a few things and told me that due to an open recall ALL of those issues would be 100% covered by Subaru.
This is really a case of one business making money vs another business helping the customer. I get it, I do; however, I’m always going to side with side that I feel is looking out for me as a person, rather than a job.
Obviously I went to Subaru and got everything on my 150k miles Subaru fixed free of charge and paid my new car mechanic $ 150. $ 150 vs $ 6,000. Ugh.
These guys are nice but… proceed with caution.

Worst shop ever. They changed my tire valve stem core without my authorization and then give me a 29 dollar bill. It’s just a five minute job for god’s sake. I asked the guy if they checked my tire pressure and he said they did. But they didn’t. Avoid this shop!

Worst place you can possibly go to get repairs on your vehicle. First off, as soon as I picked up my car after a routine maintenance all the sudden my air conditioner stopped working and these had the nerve to deny they had anything to do with it. I’m so stupid to go to this spot again after my previous service where mysteriously my iPod disappeared from my car. I called the manager and he said he would review the video camera’s and then call me back. Of course he never did. Trust me these guys are crooks and shouldn’t be trusted.

The tire on the right front side of my van looked like it was ready to pop at any moment. And I knew I had to do something about the shimmy in the front end at 65 because the vibration was starting to loosen the screws in my head. I believe the screws are loose because I was considering used tires. By the time you add in alignment and account for the much shorter life span and rolling the dice on quality, it’s worth it to spend a few bucks extra for brand spanking new rubber.
So I called a couple tires places. The first was $ 10 higher than Express Tire PLUS alignment. This was Monday at 7:43am. The 2^nd call got me two truck tires mounted, balanced, installed on my cargo van for $ 264. Asked if alignment was included, Darren, the owner said, «we’ll throw it in.»
Got there by nine. It took sixty seconds to check-​in. Dismount the Hoopty mode. Grabbed my Goped Scooter out of the back. Flipped up the handle bar, made sure the fedora I wear backwards to look cool was pulled down far enough and scooted off in the direction of Starbucks and The Watertown Mall. Geez, from the looks of people in the burbs, you’d think they never saw a guy in a fedora on a scooter before!
Came back a couple hours later wearing new sneakers. Yee-​ha, Hoopty is ready to roll. Headed for the highway. Cranked it up to 85, smooth as glass. Me? Happy as a clam.
I evaluate the experience as no BS, first-​class shop. Noticed lots of happy customers. Called my friend Jen who lives a few blocks away to ask if she knew about the shop. Sure, she knows Darren. Agrees that it’s a great place to go.
