Artos Service Station

He always does quality work for a reasonable price and gets the job done quick. I wouldn’t use anyone else. Recently I had my car to go there and forgot something important inside of the car. Was Sunday and the mechanic shop was closed but I really needed to get into my car. The gas station attendant didn’t have access to my keys but I called and the owner came from home in under 5 min just to let me in.

Unreliable fix. High likelihood of getting cheated for jobs they are not capable of doing. Just get your fuel from them. Folks like me gravitate to this service stations for the low labor costs but the workmanship is poor. And end up going back to them several times without any resolution.

This place has been a blessing for us. My daughter attends college in the area and we roadtripped her 2001 Explorer out there from Colorado for her senior year. She started having issues with it not starting & dying while idling. With mom being far away she was left on her own to find a place. She got a recommendation from a friend and went to Artos. From the beginning, he has worked with her to find the cheapest option to try first knowing that the vehicle is old and she is a college student — a combination that means this is a not a money making endeavor for him. Of course, these are intermittent issues and never happened when it was at the shop. Still he has been very patient finding small things to tweak for little or no money. Finally decided it was time to replace the starter and idle control as everything else had been tried. He was honest that he was 99% sure it would fix the problem, but since he hadn’t witnessed it himself, he couldn’t say for sure. He pointed out that even though the vehicle is older, it isn’t a rust bucket and he thinks it is worth the expense. The quote was very reasonable and work was completed the same day. My daughter has had the truck back 3 days now and says it is running great! Gives this mom from Colorado a little less stress knowing that she has a mechanic to trust.

After the big snowstorms, my Honda Civic Hatchback was in bad shape: broken bumpers in the front and back, brake problems, some sort of noise that was happening when it was running, and a visor up front that had turned to dust on its own. We had family coming in from abroad and needed the car to be reliable quickly. He was able to turn the job around and I feel we were charged fairly. We are big fans of Arto in our household!

It’s truly sad that no matter what happens and how much you try to work with a local mechanic, in the end they try to screw you one way or another as soon as they realize that you trust them and go straight to them with out getting a second opinion.
This is an update to my previous review.
We as a family had trust Arto as our local mechanic and had taken several cars to him for basic oil changes to break jobs. These are cars that are for the most part reliable, Acura, Honda and Toyota.
Based on the work that was done on the Toyota (last review) it didn’t take long before the breaks would start making random noises. After a few returns, we were told that it was because of the parts (original parts from Toyota dealership) not the fact that the breaks weren’t installed properly. So we called it a day and decided to trust him even though this matter was later taken care of and corrected at the dealership.
My next complaint is about price hikes that occur without any notice given. To charge someone $ 60 for an oil change and when they were just $ 25-​$ 30 last year is insane. I choose not to argue about it and just simply never return.
Arto is a young and respectful gentlemen who will show you how trust worthy he is initially (in order to gain you’re business) and as soon as he realizes you keep coming back, he won’t bother even giving you a decent discount. We as a family have chosen to part ways with him and take our 4 cars to another near place near by.
I hope that he and other read this and realize that you can’t screw you’re customers especially the ones that were loyal to you.

I took my car in last week and — after they looked at it and charged me $ 300 telling me it was resolved, I still broke down in the middle of the street. My friends that used to go there told men that Arto’s was unreliable, but I didn’t trust them– thinking that these good reviews online know better. They don’t! Good reviews probl posted by Arto’s friends or customers looking to get the discount.
I went back to tell them about the problem, they wanted to charge me again for the same work they haven’t completed in the 1^st place!

I joined Unilocal! just to give Arto respect. Arto has been my mechanic for 3 plus years, and was referred to me by someone I’ve known for 20 years. He is first of all, a great guy. Second, he’s completely positive all the time — and happy to help. Third, he’s a great mechanic who explains the issue in a way that makes you feel like you understand; plus, he’ll show you all the work he’s done. And spare parts he removed to fix it (if you want). Also, I have to share this — I had a noise in my wheels that wouldn’t go away. Mind you, it was NOTHING to do with Arto. But, he stayed with it and fixed it for free. He didn’t want money, he was just happy to find the problem (the bearings needed to be re-​packed). He was kind, hard-​working and dedicated. I will go here for as long as I can and he is there. Go see Arto!

I will always go to this man for whatever my car needs, im 100% serious. He is smart, honest, friendly and does work at really good price. Its hard to find a good mechanic, because most people just want to rip you off, but trust me this guy is what all mechanics should strive to be like. Thank you Arto for being the best mechanic in the boston area.

Hands down the best and most trustworthy mechanic in the United States. I’ve driven my car all over the country and when possible, I always drive back to Watertown when it is time for any kind of vehicle repair services. Arto takes great care of my old Jeep; he is honest, his services are reasonably priced, and his work is perfect.
When I broke down in Virginia and the mechanic at the closest garage told me I needed a new transmission, I called Arto for his advice. When my 4-​wheel drive got stuck in Galveston, Texas, I called Arto for advice. Although he wasn’t right there to fix my Jeep, he provided help and guidance-​giving me the right questions to ask and the average cost for repairs– which made a horrible situation seem much more manageable.
I feel relieved to have an auto mechanic in my life like Arto!

Been going to Arto for a long, long time and only just joined Unilocal so this review is a long time coming. Have referred friends to him etc. Bottomline is the guy is just simply honest, smart, and has good judgement. He won’t get you to spend $ that you don’t need to. Hardworking guy… in it to make a living, not make a killing. I would send my own mother to Arto and know that she was in good hands.

The reviews speak for themselves! So, I needed breaks and I brought it to Artos this past Tuesday. It turns out I needed front pads, rotors, 2 serpentine belts and a oil change. Artos got it all done in 1 day for a stellar price and my car runs great. In my opinion its the best garage around. I know I found my new mechanic!

I’ve been going to Artos for years and I’ll keep it up. They replaced the master cylinder in my 95 Civic for $ 250 less than Monro’s estimate. They gave Civic a major tune up that made her run like new and burn a quarter less gas. They replaced ½ the exhaust system and now she purrs. Honest, good pricing — thumbs up.

I’ve been going to Arto’s Service Station for a little over ten years. My brand new 2002 Honda was a lemon and I can’t imagine what I would have done without an honest mechanic on my side. He saw me through 2 failed transmissions and a slew of other repairs that would have cost me thousands else where. People like Arto and his team are a rare find and if you are lucky enough to find them, you make them your mechanics for life. I’ve been getting my gas there for years but even in the dead of winter, the gas attendants have a smile or a joke to warm your day. Anything but excellent about this place is a blatant lie. Just drive by and ask the people who flock it everyday.

This week my car battery died. .. one block from the Artos gas station. .. that happens to be a full-​service gas station. .. that also has a mechanic shop. .. that had an employee there at 7 pm. .. who took my car in. .. and told me it would be ready by 8 am next day. .. and it was! Thank you Artos! You guys were a godsend for me that night, and I really appreciate your wonderful help!

Arto is simply amazing. He is kind, friendly, honest and always gives me a great deal. As someone who knows very little about cars, I am always nervous that mechanics will take advantage of me. Arto does exactly the opposite. He explains what is wrong with my car in language I can understand and offers very fair prices. My entire family has been going to Arto for years for all our auto maintenance and car advice. When my car was totaled in a crash I called Arto and he talked me through the process of buying a new car. I completely trust Arto and highly recommend him to anyone who needs any kind of work done on their car.

excellent service from a very nice guy. having just «broken up» with my former mechanic, who would always find just a few more things that needed to be fixed, i was a bit gun shy of taking my new-​to-​me used car in for service. but she needed a timing belt, and there was no way around it. Artos fit me in, gave me a reasonable quote, and promised the car by the end of the day. when he called me the middle of the day, i was a bit jumpy — until he explained that he just wanted to see if i wanted to replace the serpentine belt while he was in there, because while it would last a bit longer, it would save me the cost of taking the engine apart again. for short money, it was a no-​brainer. car was ready at the end of the day, as promised, even with the extra bit of work.

The best kept secret in car service. Artie is honest, competent and affordable. I love supporting family buisnesses – and this one is fantastic.

We had an old jeep that wouldn’t start, so we had it towed to the local VIP. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong, and said we either need to «take it to the dealer or junk it.»
Instead, we took it to Artos. The next day, they had diagnosed the problem and fixed it, for less than a third of what the dealer would’ve charged. In fact the dealer probably would’ve charged more just to look at it than Artos charged to fix it.
We have a new mechanic: Artos.
