History
Established in 1866.
Founded in 1866 by Winfield S. Jenks, W.S. Jenks & Son began by selling hardware, horseshoes, pot belly, coal and woodburning stoves.
In a 1956 expansion Jenks began supplying the young electronics industry and government agencies in Washington, DC.
In 1969, W.S. Jenks & Son begins yet another expansion in it’s Export Department and begins selling overseas to the Middle and Far East.
In September of 1993, W.S. Jenks & Son hosts then President Bill Clinton and the Small Business Administration’s Erskine Bowles for a Q&A on the upcoming Health Care Reform.
In 2003 the store moves to 953 V. Street NE in Washington, DC and begins to heavily focus on the contracting side of the business as it moves away from being a retail oriented hardware store.
In 2015 our newest store front is ready to open as W.S. Jenks & Son moves to it’s new home at 910 Bladensburg Road NE in Washington, DC. At 20,000 sf of space Jenks has a broad range of merchandise with some unique history sprinkled in throughout
