Metro Immediate & Primary Care

They were pretty awful. Took my 4 year old who had been deeply congested for weeks which was aggravated by a trip home for the holidays. Came after day home from trip. Got in fairly quickly without appointment, but nurse was really rude. Didn’t even make an attempt to work with my daughter. When she asked me what was wrong, I described a possible ear infection and fever. She said I could only pick one. So I picked the fever. She incompetently took her temperature in her ear and found nothing. She gave me a look of «Now what?» I asked her to take it in her mouth which she finally did. Only then was I allowed to see the nurse practitioner. Completely over the top rude.

I had a horrible experience. I’ve been here a few times before and have considered it my «primary care» facility. I made an appointment following a recent ER visit to follow up on determining the cause of what sent me to the ER. I was seen by a RN with the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He argued with me and barked questions at me. Then he questioned the symptoms I had and refused to discuss my previous medical history, belittling me the entire time. I began tearing up because of how he treated me. He later came back with a prescription (remember that he is a RN) for a pretty hefty drug. When I asked questions about it (how to take it, side effects, what exactly it would treat/​his diagnosis) he yelled at me that there were 10 people in the waiting room– mind you that i made an appointment, had only been their 30 minutes, and he was prescribing ANTI-​SEIZURE medication as an RN who cannot legally write prescriptions. The care I received tonight was borderline malpractice or at minimum negligence.

I have been to this place a number of times, and for the most part the people were friendly and helpful. I recently went in and there was a nurse with dirt under all of her nails and I did not see her wash her hands while she was examining me. I have been sick for a few months and I have a very weak immune system. When I saw the dirt under her nails, I should have asked for someone else to check me out and administer the tests. By the end of the visit I was worried I got exposed to something else, on top of trying to recover from my current illness. I like this place, and the doctors are very nice and try to be helpful. However, seeing the hygiene of the nurse’s hands was disturbing and worrisome.

I came in with a broken toe. A doctor wrapped blue tape (called Ace Wrap) around the toe and sent me on my way. Weeks later I received an invoice from them for almost $ 150, which included $ 70 for «STRAPPING-​TOES» and $ 80 for an x-​ray of my foot that never occurred… I’m not an expert but that sounds like health care fraud by Metro Immediate Care. The self-​pay price posted on Metro Immediate Care’s for Ace Wrap is $ 10, but they’re charging me $ 70 since I have insurance. Not sure how I’m $ 60 worse off by having insurance… I refused to pay this amount and expect this disputed bill to go to collections at which point I plan to dispute the collection. I also plan to report Metro Immediate Care for health care fraud for billing my insurance company (and being paid) for an x-​ray that never happened.
I will never return to Metro Immediate Care. They are a horribly shady business.

Went there twice! Long story short; irresponsible and less experienced!
First time was one guy, so lazy to do work that didnt actually do measurings but asked me and put them in the system… started like that and gave me unprofessional advises and said he would get me a specialist… waited and waited nothing happened even after months …
Second time Was the young asian lady looks like came from China yesterday but says from Taiwan… Asked all those questions from computer system … After that, left and came back after long … Gave me advises that can be found from any spurce … But not even a prescription… It was about my cinus, serious … Mucus with blood was coming out if you can imagine … For that she did nothing! No medications no prescription but said again, she would get me a specialist soon! I left and same thing happened that nobody called to get a referral … I called and asked them, found a way to get her over the phone and she was trying so much to hang up without giving me any reason … Waited and waited nothing happened!!!
They get highly paif for that??? Look reviews and ask around how many people were ripped off by now! It should be shut down and the staff should be archived for their bad services!

Came here without an appointment for a check-​in because of flu/​strep symptoms. I waited for about 45 minutes. The nurse was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Kwon was very knowledgable and kind. The wait once I had my weight and blood pressure and vitals taken was minimal. All in all, I was there for less than an hour and a half and left confident in the diagnosis.

Showed up last week without an appointment. Waited just as long as you would expect, about an hour or two.
Finally got called back to the exam room, where a nurse took my vitals and asked what was wrong. He said the Dr will be in in a few minutes. About 20 mins later the doctor came in. She was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable. She explained what she thought was going on and what she thought needed to happen. Towards the end of the appointment she asked if I could come back for an X-​ray the next day, to which I said sure, but why can’t I get one now? Apparently the tech leaves at 4 pm. I got there at 2:50pm. It was now 7:30pm. That timing issue was no ones fault, but it seems that should have been a little more streamlined.
Anyways, the prescribed regiment seems to be working, I’m feeling a lot better now. The Dr was great, staff was polite, just extremely slow and non attentive, hence the lower rating.
I would return, but with an appointment.

Do not trust these people. I have been calling their office – leaving now six voicemails– to get a simple regular prescription refilled for 16 days. No one answers or returns phone calls. This is the epitome of unprofessional and medical negligence.

Came here for a routine physical and blood work with Dr. Yang.
Overall, the medical experience was alright — there was a young lady who was training, so she asked all the questions, then I had to answer all of them over again when Dr. Yang came into the room 10 minutes later. Got my blood drawn for the normal lab stuff, Dr. Yang promised results in a week, sounds great, got out.
Now the real problem is the administration.
Problem 1. When I arrived, they couldn’t find my appointment. Anywhere. Bad start.
Problem 2. I received a voicemail a week or two out with my lab results, which were summarized into two statements. I’ve called the lady back and left messages probably 4 – 5 times and have not heard back. I think she called me with her cell phone because the voice message was pretty casual.
Problem 3. My check up was two months ago. I have called the office about once a week trying to get a hold of anyone who can help me. My first couple of calls were fairly optimistic of the situation. I called, I said I wanted my lab results. I gave them my email, and they said we’ll email them. Great! Two hours later, I call back, where are my results? They said we’ll email them again. OK, first time maybe they forgot. Well… didn’t get them again.
Problem 4. When I asked for my lab results, they asked for my name and birthday to verify my identity. Is that all you need? I’m a little suspicious of this…
Problem 5. You can trick me the first few times with this «email» thing, but I caught on pretty quick. I started asking for Dr. Yang. Of course, he was either not in the office or with another patient every single time I called. Urgent Care Center, I get it, he’s busy. I left messages every time and got 0 call backs from him.
Problem 6. About a month in, after several admin staff had «emailed» my records, one admin lady informed me that Dr. Yang had not signed off on my results, so she couldn’t email them to me. WHAT? Did anyone want to tell me that the first time? Can Dr. Yang sign my results please!!!
Problem 7. Today, I thought I was getting somewhere. I was promised a call back and I got one (albeit from the admin staff). She then repeated the original 2 line summary (see Problem 2) over the phone and that was that. I asked for a copy of the records. She said I can pick it up. Can you email? She said OK — but that’s not me, that’s a different department. Needless to say, I did not get my records today.
At this point… I’m so frustrated. All I want is a piece of paper! Is this too much to ask for? I really should have checked out Unilocal before coming here, because this does not seem to be an uncommon issue. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. (⁰⁄₅)

I received good care here, but I’m experiencing the same issue as Diego — calls from a collection agency about a visit that took place in March, 2014… almost 2 years ago. I never got an invoice from these clowns and now they’re saying I owe about $ 100.
Highly suspicious. Take your business elsewhere.

If I could give them a negative rating, I would. Their reception staff are the rudest people I have ever interacted with, they never answer their phone, they never return calls, their email always bounces back, they lose your prescription and try to hold refills hostage to force you to visit the office.
It took over two months, three emails, and five phone calls to get them to change a prescription to one that was free under my new insurance. Now that I’ve run out, it took one month of me calling to get it renewed, only to have them renew my old prescription that wasn’t covered under my insurance. Then after having the pharmacy call, they renewed the incorrect one again. The pharmacy called again to get it corrected only to be informed that they never put my new prescription in my chart so I can’t get one until I go into the office. Then when I called to complain the receptionist said «this is only my part time job» and hung up on me.
I am disgusted with the lack of professionalism at this office and will gladly travel well out of my way to have a new doctor.

I came here the other week when I had a sore throat and wanted to get a strep test. The staff was pretty nice and professional. They took my insurance information and contact information and then I was told to sit. I wasn’t given an approximate wait time and it ended up being almost 2 hours. I know there is usually a line at urgent care, but it would have been nice to get an approximation of the time or where I was in the line.
After I finally was taken back to the exam room, they gave me the strep test and when it came back negative, they also took a few other swabs of my throat to send out to the lab to test for other possible infections. The doctor then gave me a prescription for ibuprofen and sent me home. All in all, it was a fine experience for an urgent care and it is close to my apartment, but I will definitely continue to use this for any urgent care needs

Long waits and no acknowledgment of those who have been waiting for over an hour! Don’t come here if you are truly request not feeling well.

Visited the office on 4÷16÷2014. On 7÷27÷2015 I started receiving letters from a COLLECTION AGENCY for not paying a bill I wasn’t even aware of. I’ve NEVER received a single invoice, on the mail from them. I just had NO IDEA i owed money and all the sudden I got letters and calls from a collection agency for not paying a bill I apparently owe. According to this agency, my insurance company denied the payment (or part of it? for $ 120) for this visit and without any notification, my name was sent to the collection agency.
I called Metro IPC several times to trying see what was going on and fix it during the past week, I got transferred calls to wrong departments, wrong numbers to the «right person to talk to», I left voicemails in some numbers, I didn’t hear a word back from anyone responsible for the billing/​finance department.
This added to the absurd amount of time I had to wait during that visit. I recall spending almost 2 hours on the waiting room and it wasn’t even that busy to start with…
This place completely lacks respect for its clients/​patients. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know. Specially after having the risk of having my credit score hurt, because of somebody else’s incompetence.

I wish I could give zero stars. After cutting my arm open on metal a few months ago, I came directly here to receive care. I was still bleeding and the wound had not been treated. I sat in the waiting area for about 90 minutes before being moved back to a room, where I sat for another hour. The medical assistant did check in on me twice, and seemed completely surprised no one had been in to see me yet. I finally walked out.
I get triage, but to allow someone with a bleeding injury to sit without even cleaning the wound for that long is just not safe. The cases going in ahead of me were for colds. My decision to leave was based primarily on this, but also on the fact that while in the room I could hear the staff — including one of the doctors — talking about how they could stop taking patients at a certain time to leave early.
So unprofessional.

Well… I got here @ 7:45am and was 1^st in line. Didn’t matter because the 8am physician «didn’t know his schedule» and didn’t come in?! Wow. How’d he make it through med school?! So I get to wait an hour for the 9am physician. Let’s hope this one can tell time? Unreal lack of respect for clients. If you have other options– go there.
At 9:15 the 9am doc not here. The 8am Didn’t show? It seems this place should lose it’s license. How can they set business hours when no one is actually available to see patients? A good question for the District offices.
The 9am doc (or nurse?) did show. Didn’t even introduce herself. Not an apology. Nada.

I wish I could comment on the quality of the care I received, but I never had the chance to see a doctor. After being on hold for an extended period of time, I decided to just drive over as a walk-​in (thank goodness I decided against my original Über plan, or I’d have been even more pissed). No one was at the front desk when I arrived, but someone came up to the desk fairly quickly.
After asking whether she could help me, I explained that I’d like to see a doctor. Her immediate response: «We’re running very behind, so we’re not taking any more walk-​ins.» She COULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT OVER THE PHONE instead of putting me on hold. I arrived just before 8 p.m. they close at 10. This was ridiculous.
When I expressed my frustration, rather than offering ANY apology, she reiterated the fact that I couldn’t be seen. TERRIBLE customer service!!!

My main issue is with one of the PCPs in particular; Dr. Yang. After assessing I did not have anything wrong with me, he sill tried prescribing me medication to take. Even after I asked for specific labs to be taken, he took it upon himself to add on a few other labs to be drawn that are known to be expensive with out even telling me. When he said that he was going to find a place to refer me so I could receive more specialized help, he left and didn’t come back. After waiting there for 20 mins I walked out to the receptionist to ask what happened to Dr. Yang, it turned out he was with another patient and completely forgot about me. That is when I realized his lackadaisical care in the beginning and end made sense, he was just there to collect check as well as bill for as many services as he could get away with.

The earlier you set the appointment /​arrive for a walk-​in, the better. As to be expected, appointments run behind schedule. I was seen maybe 20m after my appointed time, and waited in the exam room for another 10. At 9:30 AM, the waiting room was already full.
If you’re setting an appointment online, it’s best to do it two days in advance. I made one online the day before and it was never confirmed, so I ended up having to call the office (was put on hold for a while).
After a week+ of feeling like crap, I made an appt for the next day. The PA quickly figured out what was wrong and sent my pharmacy a script that was ready by the time I got there.

I wouldn’t say that this place is as good as it gets because it certainly has its flaws. You’re definitely going to encounter a longer wait time here than at a regular primary care but that’s what you get for going to a walk-​in clinic. I spent the last 2 years getting strep every few months and at first I would go to the CVS minute clinic which would take hours– and I mean hours. I didn’t have a primary care doctor so my options for dealing with any illnesses in a timely manor were limited. I found this place online last year and gave it a shot. Their hours are the best around and the office is clean, quiet, modern– it’s not a bad place to wait if you end up having to wait a bit longer than expected.
On the downside, I needed surgery last fall and had to get a physical in order to be operated on. I came here and it was quick and painless– they filled out the paperwork, scanned it in and gave it back to me. The paperwork specifically asks for the doctor to send it to the surgery center 2 weeks before the scheduled surgery date. A few days later I decided to call the surgery center to make sure that everything was all set– they said they hadn’t received my physical paperwork. I called MIPC to see what had happened and they had no record that I had even had a physical. Luckily I still had the paperwork that they had given me and I was able to fax it over myself. I was kind of shocked that they had no record of it in their system though…
All of that said– if you don’t have a PC physician and need immediate attention and you live in the area, this isn’t a bad place to go. I wouldn’t go out of my way though and I don’t plan on using this place forever.
