Ugh, still no solution to the handicap accessibility issue. To make things worse, now they are locking the handicap access gate at random times.

Great playground hands down, I wish I had all of this when I was a kid. I grew up in this area and this is a major transformation! It’s clean and well maintained and it even has a little ware park addition to it!

I really like this playground! It has two sets of playground one for the bigger kids and one for the smaller ones ages 5 and under. They also have a basketball court and tennis court with doesn’t interferes with the kids playing. This recreation center also does things where they give out free icecreams and free hotdogs for the kids from time to time. Its really a good atmosphere for the kids to play and have fun! I enjoy going there every day with my daughter!

I’m just as excited as all the children in the area for this enormous playground! It’s so cool. Kennedy was in much need for a new playground. Great job! Review is just for playground.

Disclaimer: this is for the playground only. I love the newly redone Kennedy Rec Center playground! It is HUGE(actually split into two complexes), has phenomenal equipment, and I’ve never found it to be crowded. Since my little munchkin is just a wee one(9 months old), we can’t really take advantage of the playground to its full extent. However, we love coming here and using the baby swing and I look forward to when she will be more mobile and can enjoy more of what is offered here. Great slides, spider-web, mini-climbing wall, monkey bars, etc. There are also cute multilingual displays on the equipment throughout the playground to instill a little bit of learnin’ for the tots. And what I like the most is the bright, colorful, and SQUISHY floor/ground covering! It’s awesome and a great semi-soft landing for the inevitable bumps and falls that occur on playgrounds. A few thoughts: –It would be great if there were some shaded areas for caregivers to sit and stay cool, especially knowing how brutal DC summers can be. –The sign on the entrance says the playground is for children aged 2 – 5. I question why 2 years old is the(requested but not enforced) minimum age, when a lot of the equipment(i.e., the specific baby swings) can be safely used(with supervision, of course) by children younger than that.
