I love Mexican food, but this place makes the worst Mexican food in the state. I had chicken enchiladas. The rice had no seasoning and was bland. The refried beans tasted weirdly sweet… Chips were really the only thing I ate because my meal was so terrible. I recommend going and eating pizza instead of this Resturant.

Outstanding meal. Ambience is awesome, food is great, and the experience from reception entrance to exit by Don Lobos himself makes the experience special. Spectacular margaritas don’t hurt the exceptional/authentic food either. Need real Mexican food in Washington D. C??? You should head to this great little secret on M street!

Food was terrible. Should have known when I walked in during lunch and saw next to no one there.

Service was terrible. It was dark and stuffy. They charged 2.50 for the sour cream. Food was mediocre. Go to chipotle.
The food here was simply not impressive. The B.B. burrito was crap, so if anything, avoid that. The carne asada dishes had decent meat but still the one i had wasn’t anything special. There was only one or two veggie options that looked uninspired. The margarita was pretty good at least. In terms of price, its what you should expect for Georgetown. My opinion of M street restaurants is that they serve mediocre food at prices that are slightly inflated compared to the rest of DC with nice ambiance. I feel like don lobos failed to even deliver mediocre Mexican food and there was no pleasant ambiance. I personally don’t care at all about how a place is decorated but I do want good food. I don’t see any reason to recommend stopping by here.

I ate here once before and was really impressed with the service and food. I ate here again today and the experience was the opposite. I ordered a Chimichanga as I normally do when I eat Tex Mex. I have been to Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Honduras. I love tasting authentic cuisine due to my travels. The owner himself took our order. He brought out a quesadilla. We attempted to tell him we ordered a Chimichanga to which he persisted to talk over me and insist that he was right and that I was wrong and had made a mistake. He insisted that he doesn’t make mistakes. My fiancé then began to speak for me and at that point and that point alone did he tell us with an attitude that he would fix it. We cancelled the food and paid for the other dish that he brought out. My fiancé expressed that he didn’t appreciate the way the owner spoke to me to which the owner said«your girl made the mistake, I don’t want to talk about this». If you eat here take a man with you. The owner doesn’t seem to respect women and seems to think that he is infallible. I won’t return to this establishment again.

I have been to this restaurant before and the service was questionable but we attributed it to the fact that we arrived late. The food was different but good. I went back and the food quality diminished and the customer service was worst.

I was craving nachos and saw this place and went in. Sign #1 should have been that for a weekend night there was only 1 other table of people. One person was running the place as I believe he was the waiter and cook. It took forever to get anything. We ordered a couple alcoholic beverages and both got appetizers. It was taking so long for the food to come out I asked for some chips and salsa and the guy told me no because we did not order entrees! I would have paid him for the darn chips as I was so hungry I just wanted something to prevent me from getting hangry. The loud, horrible Selena music was not helping and my only hope was the nachos would be so good the wait was worth it. Wrong. I have never, ever had nachos where I ran out of chips and was left with a sloppy mess of toppings. I am serious, there had to have been 10 chips total. It is like they were having some sort of chip shortage.

Very charming and casual environment. I think the prices are a bit high and I struggled to get something that I thought was worth the price. I got the chorizo quesadillas for 9.95. It’s a good deal because you get guacamole and sour cream with the quesadillas, otherwise guac is 6.95. Our server was friendly and the food was fresh. I like this place for the quesadillas and margaritas and it is a quiet escape from the Georgetown hustle.

Small place with mediocre ambiance. I did appreciate the Selena hits they were playing though. The wait staff is really helpful and friendly. Mexican coffee is lovely(I got mine black and found they added just enough Kahlua to make it perfectly sweet). Good chips served with tasty homemade salsa. I liked the crab & shrimp quesadilla and the beef taco didn’t disappoint. But the star of the show was easily the chicken fajitas. The meat was fresh, juicy and flavorful. Perfectly cooked, as were the veggies. The tortillas were really good too… fluffy and thick yet the right consistency to fold up a tasty fajita without issue. I’ll be back to try the chicken burrito and margaritas!

Nothing to write home about. Service and servers were quick, polite and good. Cons: Food was pricey for what they serve. Taco salad with no rice and guacamole for $ 12. It only had lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, steak and a bit of cheese. Not the traditional taco salad you get in other place, which is much better. I think the restaurant must be going through challenging times since there were no people there and they were skimping on food. I got half a cup of salsa since I was dining alone. Funny! At any rate, I will not be back here anymore. This was my second visit.

My friend and I stopped by here last night for dinner. In general, I thought it was pretty good. It’s a small space(at least on the first floor, not sure what/if the situation is upstairs?) and very intimate. Dimly lit, little(electric) candle on the table. It would be a good date spot, I’d say. Meal starts with some tortilla chips and a warm salsa. We were famished, so we polished these off without a problem. I ordered steak fajitas and my friend ordered fish tacos.(She’s gluten-intolerant, so it’s good that they have corn tortillas here.) Food took a little longer than our starving selves would have liked? My fajita platter came out sizzling with steak, onions, and bell peppers, with a side plate of rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream, and then a little dish of tortillas. I took some issue with the tortillas here. I’m used to bigger tortillas, and these were just not big enough for how much steak I had. Also there were only 3. I don’t know, am I eating fajitas wrong? The tortilla ratio seemed way off. Had a good meal here and listened to some Selena playing gently in the background(I KNOW right? SELENA! :D) but I’m not sure I’d be in a rush to come back.

Slow service but friendly. Had to ask for chips and salsa but decent salsa but chips were not good. Main entrée ok pork chop but only rice. No beans. Mole sauce good but skimpy.

The second stop from the road trip back to San Francisco was made in Georgetown. Wanted some food that was affordable and portionable. Had 2 steak tacos on the lunch menu for $ 9 bucks which wasn’t bad at all being in Georgetown. The tortillas were home made and made the tacos very juicy. The customer service was great by the older Latin man and it was made rather quickly. Not to sure why the reviews aren’t so great but I enjoyed the quick tacos and seating.

Went in by myself last night, tired after sightseeing. The waitress was so nice. I ordered the Chicken Poblano, a shredded chicken burrito with mole sauce. The food came quickly… It was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, and the salsa for the chips was pretty darn good too. So I don’t understand the comments that say the food was awful. Maybe I hit a good night? or they hit a bad one? If I ever get back to Georgetown/DC again, I’d definitely go back.

We were the only people in there for awhile, and there was no background music, which was kind of weird. The place was totally silent. The food was so-so at best. I got enchiladas and my friend got a burrito, and neither of us finished our food, and we didn’t even bother to take the rest to go because we wouldn’t have eaten it anyway. The rice and beans were also not great. I definitely wouldn’t go back.

Great service and good food! Was a good experience with lots of appetizers and entrée options! The enchiladas were very good with heaping portions of food well prepared.

Ordered to go. Fiesta plate and chicken taco plate. Positives: server was polite. Service was fast(or is this a negative?.. Since more time spent on my food may have helped it taste better.) Negatives: the food was not very good. Neither myself or my cousin ate the beans or rice. Beans tasted funky and the rice was kind of hard, maybe undercooked. Like others who posted, I thought it was weird that it had peas. The enchiladas and tacos were okay. Ate most of it but well. Meh. Was not worth the price. Which definitely should be lowered. I don’t Unilocal too often but idk if people should waste money here Could be just a bad first experience. But first impressions are important. 2 stars might be generous as well.

This basically couldn’t be any worse! The food here was the strangest take on Mexican I’ve ever seen. The rice was almost like Chinese rice and was bland white rice and had peas in it! What? Peas? The flautas were inedible, and also looked like they were cooked in an Asian rather than Mexican kitchen. I have no idea what was in this mystery meat but it made me very sick for the next twelve hours. My friend ordered enchiladas and got something like a enchilada with mole sauce instead of enchilada sauce. Do yourself a favor and stay away, I have no idea how this place is still in business.
