I was nervous and frightened about pulling my tooth out. Dr. Ko did an awesome job. I did not feel any pain or discomfort. Not only Dr. Ko is great, the whole office is full of positive energy. Cindy is very good at communication and she explained to me about insurance and payment clearly. I feel very lucky that I found this office!

I take my mom to Dr. Ko and she has been happy with him and his staff. She strayed from her previous dentist because he seemed to take a lot of time off (trips to Bahamas and such) good for him. Dr. Ko is great at what he does. She’s happy so I’m happy.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Ko since 2011 and he is great at what he does. He’s very personable and friendly as is all of his staff from front desk to dental hygienists. His office has grown a lot and seems like he always has new patients. He really cares for all of his patients and takes the necessary time with each person. He doesn’t try to upsell more services and only suggests more work if it is truly needed. Only downside is scheduling appointments can be difficult depending on your schedule.

Kevin, aka Dr. Ko, is the bomb of dentists. For starters, he DOES NOT HUNT LIONS. Or any other big game animals. In fact, he doesn’t even have photos of his adorable kids around his office! He is personable, professional and gives you an honest evaluation of your options. When I broke part of a tooth, his office accommodated me quickly, I was presented with three different options and Dr. Ko gave me an honest evaluation of all three, even recommending the more affordable porcelain replacement over a crown. I’ve been very happy coming here and highly recommend him. Plus, if you have to be staring at something open mouthed, he’s not a bad choice, either!

Dr. Ko seems like a very good dentist, but there were a few things that gave me a bad feeling about this place, and made me decide to go all the way back into San Francisco to my former dentist:
1) The availability of appointments is VERY limited — even if you have an urgent situation. Booking a cleaning takes about a month, and I needed to get in right away after almost half of my tooth broke off, and the earliest they could schedule me was five days away.
2) It feels like they care more about getting paid, than they care about taking care of your teeth. I realize they need to get paid, yes of course. But — they were much more concerned about getting my copayment and pre-​authorizing treatment plans, than trying to get me in to actually see Dr. Ko.
3) Yes… the front office staff is nice, but actually unprofessional. It sort of feels like you’re talking with a nice child, not a professional. You’ll see what I mean.
Sorry Dr. Ko – you seem like a solid dentist, but having to wait five days after half my tooth broke off and was tearing up the inside of my mouth was unacceptable for me.
I called up my former dentist in San Francisco, and they’re actually moving around other, less-​critical appointments in order to see me in the next 24-​hours. And — it’ll be done in one visit, and splitting up the copayments over time is fine — they just want to take care of the tooth first.
For anyone interested, Dr. Curt Facchino in SF is terrific and worth the trip into the City.

Dr. Ko has cured me of dental trauma. Ive had 3 fillings and a crown and can’t say enough good things about the experience… In fact my crown was a completely fun experience … Yes fun, interesting and exciting. Best part– only 1hour procedure given his cool machine.
The entire staff is helpful, friendly and clearly enthused and inspired about what they are doing.
I highly recommend him.

I went to Dr. Ko’s for an emergency consultation (called in the morning, they scheduled me the same day… no fuss, no muss). I was impressed from the initial intake phone call– the receptionist and was calm, kind, beyond friendly. Dr. Ko himself is so zen, which is really refreshing given my past experience with negative dentists who would announce doomsday on the state of my teeth. I liked that he proposed a reasonable solution and a reasonable alternative to my tooth issues. He took the time to explain the processes and the rationale behind them. Not once did he try to badger me into any other services.
Today, I had a second appointment to get a (post-​root canal) permanent crown. Both Dr. Ko and his assistant, Jim, were wonderful and frequently checked in with me to see if I was comfortable. The local anesthesia was as pain free as it could be. He uses a nifty little machine to administer it, which is seriously genius for anyone who is afraid of dentists/​needles. There’s no visual of a horrific oversized syringe coming for you.
GEEK MOMENT:
By far the COOLEST thing, ever, is witnessing firsthand the machines used by Dr. Ko to digitally scan, design, and shape the crown itself. After a digital scan of my entire mouth, bite, and of the affected tooth, a little machine in the back furiously began to laser out the crown from a block of ceramic. The whole thing was shaped in 20 minutes and the final product looked like a friggin’ Jeff Koons piece.
My new crown has an incredible fit. Like the Rolex of crowns. My previous crown always felt wonky, but I figured hey– that’s just how crowns were supposed to be. Nope.
And if it matters, I don’t have dental insurance and paid for everything out of pocket (back to the ‘olé college ramen diet for me). Believe me, I had high expectations, and Dr. Ko exceeded them all.
One of my colleagues (whose father was a dentist) told me offhand that the best dentists don’t work on weekends. The jury’s still out on that theory, but I will point out that Dr. Ko’s general office hours are Mon — Fri. The fact that he’s willing to give himself and his employees time to rest and recoup tells me that he’s committed to providing the best care. A burned out dentist working on your mouth is the last thing anyone wants. Been there… and I am not about that.
TL;DR: Dr. Ko and his entire office are one of a kind. Your appointment starts on time. The office utilizes up-​to-​date technology. More importantly, Dr. Ko is educated in said up-​to-​date technology. That, and Dr. Ko’s incredible bedside manner, makes his and his staff’s services worth every penny.

Dr. Ko is the best dentist I have been to in a long time. He gives very honest opinions and is clearly not out to maximize profit or provide any service that isn’t needed. The hygienist I had was also amazing. She spent probably an hour with me and did a very thorough cleaning.

Dr. Ko, and his staff are the best! I never thought I could say anything good, about a dentist, but this guy lives up to his great reviews!
I went to Dr. Ko, based on his awesome reviews, and the fact that he was close by. I was not disappointed. I have SUPER SENSITIVE teeth and gums, so I absolutely hate going to the dentist, and that’s putting it mildly. Dr. Ko, is smart, easygoing, has a nice, positive attitude, and uses every tool available to him, to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible.
They have really nice headphones, available, which is an awesome touch. They are experts at administering anesthesia (my least favorite part, and the entire experience is as pleasant as possible.
Special mention goes to Sheila. my hygienist, who is very entertaining, and put up with my lame, nervous joking around.
I also can’t say enough about the girls that handle all the admin stuff: they are the most pleasant people to ever work in a dentists’ office. They are exceedingly thorough, and take the time to explain everything.
Save yourself any further aggravation, and just «go to Dr. Ko!» :-)

He cares, he’s really good, and he fixed my smile. Loves the Warriors, Giants and Cal Sports — first dentist I didn’t dread going to.

I had taken a little break (3 years) from going to the dentist and super nervous about going back, but it could not have been a better experience. I needed fillings and it was painless. Very professional and nice environment. There is a reason they are a solid 5 stars.

I’ve been going to Dr. Ko for several years now and even through changing dental insurance providers, have stayed with his office. My sister recommended him to me, and I recommended him to my Mom when she chipped her tooth. We’ve all had great experiences and for once, I don’t dread going to the dentist!
He is thorough and his entire staff is friendly and organized. They make it easy to book your next cleaning (6 months) at the end of your appointment. Everyone in the office is personable and professional, and I am confident in his practice!

You probably hate going to the dentist. But you will have an impossible time finding a more pleasant and competent staff. Dr. Ko was able to easily fix a stubborn problem that my former dentist struggled with (some root canal with an ill-​fitting crown). And I’d be remiss if I did not mention the friendliest person in the world, Sheila. One usually equates dental work with pain, but when Sheila does it, it feels like chowing down on a big bowl of hearty soup on a beautiful winter day.

I had chipped a tooth and had just moved to town. Didn’t know anyone local who could recommend a dentist. So off to Unilocal!I saw all of these crazy high ratings and glowing reviews, so how could I not at least try him?
Well, all of these reviews and 5 star ratings? They are all completely deserved. The office staff is great (Cecilia is simply brilliant!), the practice team is great, Dr. Ko is great. He’s now my dentist and, if you’re reading this, Dr. Ko, I’m about to call for an appointment and I’m excited to go!
Who says that about their dentist??? I do now!
Problem is, I’m moving to Southern California, which means I’ll now have to fly up to Walnut Creek for all my dental work. Worth it!

I should like to thank Kevin Ko and all of his wonderful staff for their excellent service and also to thank Unilocal for helping me find such a capable and technologically advanced group of holistic dental professionals. One of the other reviewers praised Dr. Ko for having a good relationship with his staff and that is important to me, too. It was highly evident from the start that Dr. Ko respects his staff, and that they respect him, and together they respect their customers.
In fact, they go way beyond this in friendliness and cordiality. Like several of the other reviewers, I am especially hesitant to trust dentists after having experienced quite a bit of less than stellar service in the past. Let me just say that Kevin Ko won my trust from the very beginning. He is amazing in every way, from his chair-​side manner to his expertise in selecting and using the most advanced equipment.
I didn’t really believe the other reviewers who stressed his pain-​free dentistry, but what they say was all true. I seriously did not even feel the injections. This is as pain-​free as it is going to get. If I had kids, I would bring them here. Now that I have found this office I don’t plan on going anywhere else.

I started coming to Dr. Ko earlier this year after neglecting my teeth for a few years. I have two different dental insurances — I just hated going to the dentist!
Every so often I would look in Unilocal and decide, oh, yes, that’s the dentist I’ll go to–
and then not do it.
I finally went in when I had a toothache and had no choice.
Whether it’s painless routine care or his getting me in right away when I told him I had an injury and something was loose– and then working through his lunch to make certain that everything was taken care of– he is amazing, professional, excellent! Everyone in the office is incredible.
Your teeth will thank you!!!

I like most people really dislike going to the dentist. To my own detriment, I avoided it for several years. At my sisters recommendation who was and RDA intern in his office a few years ago, I bit the bullet and scheduled an appt. I’m so glad he did for a few reasons:
A) He was recommended as a great dentist with the latests technology which made the visits much easier to tolerate for someone who hates getting work done.
B) He’s good to his employees. This is something that’s really important to me. I think it says something about a person who is respectful to those in their employ. Generally a sign of an all around good person.
C) Both A & B proved to be true. He is a gentle dentist who is clearly knowledgable and highly skilled. He is conservative in his recommendations and I never felt like he was trying to «upsell» me treatments I didn’t need despite how easy this could have been considering how I had neglected my teeth. He is a kind man who seems to really care about his patients.
Thank you, Dr. Ko for making an unpleasant part of life less unpleasant :)

Geez! Where do I start? Well I guess I can say I found Dr. Ko using Unilocal.I was MIA from everything dentistry for about 4 years. My teeth started hurting and I couldn’t bare the pain anymore so I went in to see the Doc. Found out my wisdom teeth were causing the problem. Dr. Ko pulled them with ease. For me this was a big deal because I’m deathly afraid of the dentist. Dr. Ko made sure I was comfortable during the whole process.
After such a great experience, I decided to have a consultation with Dr. Ko to gather information on the Dental veneers process. I must add, Dr. Ko did not initially recommend that I get veneers. I’ve never liked my smile and found out Dr. Ko is experienced through his website. After gathering the information I needed, I decided to go through with it. From start to finish my experience with doctor Ko was outstanding. The process took only three scheduled visits. One to get a bite register and mold of my teeth (painless) took about 15 min. One to prep existing teeth, pick color shade and receive temps (painless) took about two hours. The third and final visit we installed my pearly whites (painless) took about 2 hours.
Dr. Ko was accommodating, never pushy, he gave me recommendations and let me make the decisions. I’m very happy with my new teeth and recommend everyone to visit Dr. Ko. My teeth look and feel natural and I’m so happy I went with Dr. Ko. Absolutely worth every penny.

EASY, EASY, EASY! 2 crowns, one visit, 3 hours. No preps, temps or return visits for crowns. For anxiety filled patients, it’s the way to go. I would have given five stars, but want to make sure that everything is PERFECT, post visit. Phew– so thankful!
PS– 6:45pm– just got a call from the dr. Checking to see how I was feeling and to see if I had any questions or concerns– another ½ star for that.
