History

Established in 1998.

When he’s on vacation, entrepreneur Dan Roll always has his mind on business. While visiting Europe in the early 1990s, Dan, an avid tanner, had the opportunity to try a session in a high-​pressure sunbed. «I absolutely loved the results,» he recalled. «It gave me almost immediate color in a relatively short amount of time. After discussing this with Monte and Chris, we thought it would be a good idea to open a salon featuring this equipment, so people back home could also enjoy the great results.» When he returned home to Northern California, Dan got together with his friend and business associate Monte Posey, and the two began to draft a business plan for what would soon become Glo Tanning Studio. With the help of their third partner, Chris Ruggieri, a contractor, they built and opened the first location in 1998 in the small, Northern California community of Walnut Creek.
