Forma Gym

Best gym experience ever! Tons of classes available, there is always something you can jump into. Instructors are amazing, Karen, Yuki, Loan etc. Yoga, Pilates and Barre are my favorites. The weights and nautilus machines on the top floor are private and conveniently located next to the cardio machines. I enjoy the separation from the more intense weight training happening on the bottom floor. A nice steam after Pilates makes me feel invigorated. Beautiful atmosphere, really clean… I can go on forever. We have been members for about 6 years and we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Started coming to Forma because of issues in neck and shoulders. Being close to 60 years old I was worried about hurting myself. I was told I needed to strengthen and build my core. My friend encouraged me to get private Pilates sessions from Yuki the head of the Pilates program among other things. After a few privates I started doing the classes and after several weeks I was able to see and feel the difference .
Its been several years now and I still go to Pilates classes and always have a great instructor. So many great classes to choose from always have the most amazing Trainers and staff.
Newly renovated with showers and lockers & outdoor saltwater pool. I have referred friends and clients who have joined. Forma sells itself. Looking for a place to workout and have fun check Forma out. Worth every penny. Can’t say enough about this family owned and operated business.

My favorite gym of all time! Atmosphere, classes, equipment, locker rooms and facilities, pool are all top notch. The new PT training facility for serious injuries looks amazing. I’ve been a member on and off for 20 years. I love working out at a gym that’s all inclusive on EVERY level. My youngest (6 YO) loves the childcare program, but my oldest (9 YO) doesn’t care for it. Regardless, the childcare is great and the caretakers are engaged, creative, and patient.

I’ve been working out at Forma for a couple years. I have never enjoyed going to a gym but now this has become like a second home to me (maybe third since the Coliseum is sort of a second home as well). I have been working out with Ingrid in the morning and she is great at motivating us, pushing us and setting challenging work outs. I’ve definitely gotten a lot stronger since I started and am now just wanting to make sure I can finish the Rugged Maniac next month! The people who work at the front desk are really nice and welcoming and they have just added oatmeal and fresh drip coffee to their menu to help switch it up from just eggs for me. They also just announced some new classes starting so I will need to check them out. For once, I have found a gym I actually enjoy going to.

I actually debated writing this review for a while, because I don’t want Forma Gym to get too popular and become overcrowded like 24! But I have to give props to Forma for their fabulous customer service. Reed, Conner and Carolina constantly have a smile on their face and are there to motivate me when I need it most. I love the perks and benefits that Forma offers its members. Easy parking, updated locker rooms, one TV for every treadmill, etc. It’s the little things that make my membership here worth every penny.

Its too hot inside and there is not enough equipment.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Forma Gym. My review is based from 2 years ago.
Nearly 3 years ago I moved from Southern California. I left a wonderful boutique gym that I loved and I was on the lookout for a new one in the area. I tried several in the area and I eventually found Forma Gym.
There were personal reasons why I had to quit Forma but not because of the facility. I miss it. I really like the trainers. When I left, they were still kind of remodeling a little so I assume now the facilities are beautiful.

But this place is becoming my second home. Adding on to the previous review, this review is mainly for the instructors and personal trainer!
U-​Jams with Laura is by far my favorite class ever! I get sad if I have to miss a class due to work or commuting schedule but have been every class I can attend. It’s a fun hip-​hop class with top 40-​ish songs. Very fun for all ages. Shout out to all the ladies that let me request the Get Low by Dillon Francis song! Laura is definitely super encouraging and boosts your confidence. Her class is so much fun and of course, is my favorite instructor.
Pilates with Lencola is amazing! I feel so great after even doing a great ab workout — that’s something you don’t read everyday. She is very helpful in class, and takes her time to show you the right technique. I definitely recommend any pilates class with her.
Lastly, I signed up for a personal training session with Darlene and by far it was the best decision made. For someone that is looking to target certain areas and make a change in workouts, getting a personal trainer is the best bet. Darlene was super sweet and very informative when it came to learning new work outs. She challenged me with different workouts but didn’t push me out of my comfort zone. I am definitely feeling the back and abs sore but so happy I did a session with her. (Even signed up for more afterwards) Highly recommend her!
In conclusion — I love it here. Also, download their app for friendly competitions and goal settings. I have been using it everyday and noticed they even have a reward system. WIN
Swole Tip — Parking gets crazy around 5−6pm so no princess parking spots.

This is truly a 5 star gym — the best I’ve been to in California. Here’s why:
There’s AMPLE parking here week nights after work, WHAT?! You mean you can actually find parking without circling the lot three times and stalking someone seen on their way to their car? Yes, honey, you heard right.
The gym is super clean — there’s always someone dusting or mopping or wiping down something when I’m here. I love a nice and clean gym!
All members receive towel service and free lemon and orange infused water to keep you hydrated and dry during your work out. You don’t pay extra. Even though the prices for a membership here are a little on the expensive side — you get what you pay for.
They have pretty much anything and everything you would look for in a gym + more. They have cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, punching bags, a heated salt water pool open year round, and over 100 classes taught at no extra fee. They have an outdoor gym area too — which is near the pool and is probably awesome during the summer. They actually teach classes outside as well during the warmer months.
They also have one of most convenient bathrooms for people on the go who don’t want to pack their bathroom in their gym bag. They have mouth wash, hair spray, lotion, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner and body wash all at your finger tips. They also have hair dryers and vanities! Also the lockers in the bathroom are digital and free to use.
When you sign up, they give you the following: 1 free personal training session, 1 free Pilates reformer and intro class (Pilates is one of the few classes that aren’t free), a skin consultation at their spa — also give your 35% off your first spa service and one free stress management consultation. They really give you some perks for signing up!
This gym really makes me look forward to working out.

Real sweet gym.
Sparknotes version: Great facility for functional and strength training, never overcrowded, consistently awesome customer service.
Charles Dickens version: Has pretty much whatever you could want: beyond the standard Olympic stations and machines, they boast an indoor and outdoor calisthenics rig, multiple sets of rings, a heavy bag and a speed bag, balance boards, bosu balls, a ton of kettle bells, battle ropes, a tire with handles, sticks, maces, a pool, a climbing rope, you name it Forma’s probably got it (and I haven’t even mentioned the in-​house chiropractor and massage therapists or 100+ weekly group classes if that setting is more comfortable or enjoyable for you).
Parking is always easy and I rarely have to wait for a machine. Even at busy hours I can always find a relevant piece of equipment to keep my workouts high-​intensity when I want to.
The lockerrooms are typically clean — their maintenance/​janitorial staff is always there and always doing something — and they’re equipped with electric lockers, steam room and sauna, spa, showers, and most typical grooming fixins like shaving materials, q-​tips, etc.
My family loves to vacation at the St. Regis in Laguna/​Dana area every year or two and this gym is like having access to the expanded version of their gym/​spa experience every day. Genuinely look forward to working out here.
And to round it all out, Jessica is way sweet and never applied any more pressure than was appropriate; I say this as someone who also sells and client-​faces professionally. And to boot, not long after I signed up they had a Black Friday sign-​up deal (I’m talking 7 or 8 days later) and when I emailed to inquire whether I could retroactively qualify for the deal, Josh thanked me for signing up and charged my reg. fee back against my next month’s dues (basically gave me half the deal). Felt this was a very reasonable compromise and was dealt with really quickly. Made me that much happier to support a small, quality operation.

I would have rated this gym 3.5-Stars but I’m giving it 4-​Stars because of how much I liked the N. California location (before Forma took over the old Walnut Creek Sport & Fitness). It seems to me that the transition is now complete, as the owners has made a number of positive changes, and as members, we’ve had an ample amount of time to get a feel for things. So I will go through a number of areas that may be of interest to you, and hopefully I will have covered everything:
Equipment:
Has all of the basics. Several half-​racks, a deadlifting platform, lots of machines, lots of cardio stuff upstairs. Could use a few more flat benches and adjustable benches, but they are pretty much maxed out on space. This would not be a problem if there were some clear rules on the use of benches (for example, I’ve seen members come in and use one bench for their gear, and another to workout on). The cardio equipment isn’t the latest release or most up to date, but most machines are in very good repair, and are well looked after. Several of the treadmills are under air conditioning vents that blow freezing cold air on your head while you are sweaty, so while selecting a machine beware of the vents above.
Towels & Housekeeping:
The housekeeping staff is friendly and will generally give you space while working out. Towels are available in both small and large sizes, and are out in the open in case you need to use several during your workout. During the day members don’t always clean up after themselves and leave towels hanging around on the ground, leave the equipment dirty and put things back in the wrong location, so it would be nice if housekeeping could be a bit more proactive on keeping on top of these things throughout the day.
Locker Rooms:
They did a remodel of the men’s locker room at the end of last year. The finishes looked pretty nice, and I can tell that they put some money into the project, but I think they still missed the mark on some practical items. On the positive side, all of the lockers have digital locks (no need to bring a lock from home). The showers seem quite cramped (although they are now more private), and the faucets seem to always be splashing water all over the countertop, which housekeeping does their best to keep on top of, but seems to be a near impossible task.
Community/​Environment:
It depends on when you come in. I think the club is friendlier and a nicer place to be during the day when it’s quieter and trainers are with their clients. Most people pick up after themselves, but like most gyms there are a few guys who throw weights around, drop weights in cable machines, and leave towels all over the place (thank goodness they are a small minority). Like many gyms it seems to get busy between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM, so if you don’t like crowds, you can come in later or earlier, or try to figure out when rush hour hits.
Price:
I’m paying $ 89. I think it’s a fair price. I don’t like the 2-​year agreement, but I guess I signed it, so I went in knowing what I was getting into.
Overall:
They way I see the gyms, Forma is really in the middle of the pack. Most 24 Hour locations are over run with people, and are too crowded to find parking, and even harder to find a piece of equipment to use. I will not be coming to Forma very often anymore, as I just joined Equinox in San Francisco which is on the other end of the spectrum. It has a lot more of the luxury touches, and is a much larger facility than Forma. Forma is kind of in the middle. They have classes included with the membership, digital locker locks, towel service, and plenty of available equipment to use, but the facility is not in the same condition or at the same level of luxury as an Equinox or even some of its local upscale competitors (Oakwood or Renaissance ClubSport).
They get a lot right, but despite the remodeling, it is still an older facility. It seems to me that the management team is doing a lot of the right things, and $ 89/​month is a fair price. It lacks some of the polish that more expensive clubs have.

Forma is an okay gym. Machines are a little run down. Staff is usually rude– cleaning staff and front desk. I often just find them standing around and talking instead of greeting. Customer service makes a difference. I have also had numerous occasions where I was minding my own business working out in the spin room and staff came into clean and started vacuuming and being super loud. Just found it really obnoxious. I know they have a job to do but I’m just trying to get in my workout. I signed a 2 year membership but wish I did not. I think if it was a bit friendlier atmosphere I’d like it more…

Jessica is one of the friendliest people you have on staff. She has excellent customer service and I appreciate that she always answers my questions. My personal training with Darlene was the best personal training I’ve ever received. It was so thorough and engaging. And I’m still on her plan! This gym is fantastic. There is a great variety of exercise group classes to pick from. It’s always clean and there are always machines available. Glad I made the switch to Forma.

Really worth the price! If you’ve asked yourself what you really get for those 20 – 50 $ per month at Gold’s gym or LA fitness, or while trudging away at fitness 19 or 24 hour fitness while envying those paying the big bucks for Equinox, this place is the solution. You pay just as much and this place is complete with separate cardio equipment areas, a fully stocked weight room, an outdoor gym, a lovely pool and a spa.
Cardio:
The equipment is in great shape and although it’s always busy there are always plenty of machines available. There are also a lot of options of cardio equipment and the room upstairs comes complete with weight machines for the likes of people like me who are not the macho men working out downstairs (ie you won’t be intimidated while you’re just trying to figure out the machines!)
Weight room:
Like previously alluded to I don’t really do a lot of weights so I can’t weigh in on this one too much, but the space is large and has quite a variety of equipment which also looks in great shape. Plus the room comes complete with one of those fancy NASA vibrating stretch/​anaerobic training machines.
Pool:
The pool is large and sunny and has 3 separate divided areas, with plenty of room for 6 swimmers at a time. Plus a great cabana/​outdoor area.
Spa:
Haven’t tried it yet but I look forward to it!

When I hear the word gym, I think of big hulking guys lifting free weights and flexing afterward. When I think of the word club, I think of nice amenities, cardio equipment, group exercise, yoga, pilates, selectorized weight equipment, and on the higher end for clubs, I think saunas, jacuzzis, and steam rooms. On the higher end, maybe massage and spas, combination lockers, towel service, and nice amenities.
Forma Gym combines the best elements of a club and a gym.
Downstairs is a strength training area with free weights, benches, and a few selectorized weight machines, as well as some functional training equipment. There’s an outdoor area with functional training equipment like tires, ropes, a cage, and step benches, as well as a small pool and sun area.
Upstairs is an immersive virtual reality stationary bike studio, a mind-​body yoga studio, another group exercise studio, cardio machines, and selectorized equipment. There’s also a spa and a brow bar (i.e. a place for women to get their brows threaded!?!). The lobby has a big screen TV and a snack bar.
One of the coolest features is a bicycle lending area. The club has about six bicycles that members can borrow. They’re not the best bikes, but they’re in good working order and are relatively new. It all adds to the idea of the club as a an overall center for fitness.
Finally, the locker room is outstanding. It has full length lockers that you set your own four-​digit combination for. The benches, about two feet by four, are adequate-​sized and padded. The amenities include hair dryers, lotion, and mouthwash in the main locker room, as well as body wash, shampoo in the showers. The showers are clean and in excellent shape, as are the sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room. I really liked the large tiles, which are easy to maintain.
I don’t live near Walnut Creek, but if I did, it would definitely be my main club. It’s beautiful, has lots of options, and is fun.

I finally found the gym I have been looking for. This gym has everything I need and exactly what I want. It not only has a parking lot (which, coming from Oakland, parking was my main issue), it also has free valet, even their tip is included! The gym itself is glamorous, the outdoor workout area even wowed my husband who designs buildings. The childcare is its main selling point for me.
I had a minor issue about the Kidsville being too busy to accommodate me a couple times but learned from Fabricio that I can reserve spots ahead of time for my kids and not be turned away (which I didn’t know).
Their prices are high, but honestly, I don’t mind paying it. I think I’m paying 99 a month and my 2 kids (unlimited access in Kidville) is maybe 45 – 50 a month. You get a clean gym, trained staff, variety of classes, relaxing spa, free valet and coffee in the morning, and so much more. It’s worth it to me to pay this much and not have to worry about dreaded parking in Oakland, paying for said dreaded parking, and walking all the way back from gym to dreaded parking.
If the owner reads this at all, he must know that his staff is really incredible. Everyone is placed exactly where they should be, are extremely friendly, and must have work satisfaction from the energy they give off. Time to name drop people that I believe get an extra pat on the back: Sandra, Indigo, Kate, Savannah, Mike, and Fabricio

Forma Gym (formerly Walnut Creek Sports and Fitness) is an excellent full facility. It’s not a bodybuilder gym per se. However, it has everything you need no matter your sport. The staff is friendly. They’ve made great strides in hiring competent trainers. The remodeling work is super. The outdoor facility is awesome. I did sled drags/​pulls almost by myself. It’s different than most gyms I’ve worked out at in the area. It’s not like 24Hour or UFC. It’s got a unique twist. Nice mixture of people of all ages and abilities. If you are a hardcore bodybuilder, this might not be your place. But if you like to lift weights, stay fit, try different workouts, equipment, modalities, this might be your place.
One of the reasons I like it is that my «kind» those bodybuilder types do not inhabit this place. So it means I get to use squat racks, deadlift stations and such without having to fight over it like I did at Ballys Gym.
I wish they had a calf machine! I wish they used something other than LifeFitness machines. I want 150 lb dumbbells. But besides those few things, it’s an awesome facility. Well worth a visit.
It might be the best gym I’ve worked out at in Walnut Creek!

At first glance, The Forma Gym is really nice inside, and so are the people. The usual set of professional training gym equipment, classes, pool, and workout spaces. I signed up with one of their trainers, Ingrid, and I was skeptical as to how difficult the workout would be, since the instructor was almost overly happy to be there. Ingrid put me though her individualized workout, including, TRX, Kettle bells, a circuit style class, that was one of the hardest and most «functional» workouts I have ever gone through.
I started training with Ingrid twice a week, each time she directed me through numerous warm ups and even described them as my «work out series». Then we really started moving through several rounds of core exercises, but it’s a little bit of a blur, since Ingrid keeps you motivated but drives you to achieve more. The steam room, Sauna, whirlpool served as motivators to keep going.
Soon my wife joined me and were were paired up to go through each round, which i actually enjoyed having quality time with her and helped a lot when it began to get hard. And Ingrid personalizes each exercise even though my wife was much more fit. Soon my grown up children joined my workout session — quality time exercising together as a family. And Ingrid turned it up a level. holy s*#% it got hard. There is a bur-​pee routines, a trx routine, balance exercises, ab routines and kettle-​bell squats and swings.
Every round Ingrid shows you how to make it harder but is very informative and hands on with modifications. She keeps saying she wants the «right» places to hurt. And I do hurt after one of her workouts. But in a good way. Up and down, planks, jumping jacks, lunges, sit ups, lifts and presses. Ingrid keeps it challenging but fun, After our training session, I am feeling it everywhere, but I seem to recover quickly and am ready for another session.
Since I have started with Ingrid, I have lost over 120 lbs and reduced my body fat from 40+% to under 25%. I feel much better and have quality time with my family as we work out together.

This review is only for spa services, I haven’t tried any of their workout courses.
I came here with my sisters because we had purchased a travelzoo voucher for a massage and facial. And for a gym spa this was surprisingly good. I’m no expert at massages but in terms of facials I had gotten a few and this one was one of the best ones I got.
Swedish massage: ⁵⁄₅: I forget the name of my masseuse but she was really good. She did the right amount of pressure and she made this massage extremely relaxing. Nothing that she did hurt and she made sure everything felt ok with me. I came out smiling and completely relaxed. And that’s rare because most massages I tend to feel more pain or that it wasn’t good enough. Would come back for another massage.
Facial: ⁵⁄₅: so relaxing and great. Usually when I have gotten a facial the extractions are usually painful but when I got mine done here it was actually painless. And for me that’s rare since I have a very low pain tolerance level. I do t know what she put on my face but it was relaxing that I actually fell asleep through most of my facial. Embarrassing but relaxing facials can do that to a person!
We did try the jacuzzi and steam rooms. The only thing that I don’t like is that people go into the jacuzzi naked. Maybe it’s just me but I prefer people to cover up a little bit of wear a swimsuit. But other than that I like this gym and would come back in the future!
