One of the many booths at the shopping center’s food court that offers many mouth-watering bbq selections on the menu. Must have a side of incredibly delicious garlic shrimp with all of them!

Sooo… this is going to be an unusual review because, the food tasted great. The service, well… that’s an entirely different story. I kept my receipt with the intention of contacting management later on. All I can find is a telephone number, which I assume goes directly to the store. I would rather have an email or a way to be certain that I am speaking to management instead of store employees so that my message does not get ignored. This was on 5÷31÷15 at approx 2:45. I walked up to the counter, ready to put my order in. There was a(I presume youngish, like myself) lady at the register, dark hair, bun, glasses. But she was not ready to take my order. Nor was she ready for the next… oh, I don’t know…5 minutes? It was very awkward. I just stood there. Even the chefs were looking at me from behind the glass in the kitchen, like«uhhh…-shrug-»? So we all stood there politely and waited for her to finish her text conversation before she looked up. I could have said«Excuse me!» and broken her concentration, and maybe she would have taken my order sooner, but alas… that is not my job. Frankly it was so absurd that I decided just to wait it out and see how long it took for her to realize I’d been standing there. It lasted for quite a while… maybe 5 – 7 minutes… whew. When she finally looked up, she smiled politely and said sorry, which I DO appreciate. But never mind because as soon as she put my order in, her head was down looking at her phone again. I know my generation is into their phones, blahblah… but give me a break. This was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. So much, that I’m wasting my time coming back here seven days later to post about it. Her bad work etiquette made me feel like I was interrupting HER and wasting HER time. As a customer it made me feel unwanted, and I know that is bad news for any business. My order came out fast, and it was great. There was another person waiting to get their order taken when I came back and the cashier had her eyes on her phone again, unaware of the new customer. I’m sure they were just seconds away from walking to another restaurant in the food court. How many people take the time to stand there and wait for her? Probably not many. This person is not an asset to their company.

Waste of money– 4 pcs of real small shrimp drowned in oil and garlic and small amt of chicken drowned in too much salty sauce. Female worker should also wear a hair net– there’s hair in my food. Don’t waste time and money here. Pictures look super good– real thing sucked.

For a food court joint I really enjoyed my half order steak and shrimp for $ 9.00. The steak was sooo tasty… the shrimp… I could’ve done without. It appeared to be boiled then tossed in butter and onion. A large heap of garlic would’ve made it sooo much better. I added the fries with cheese of the side for $ 3 and I can honestly say this meal beat my fancy schmancy meals here in Waikiki where I blew an arm and a leg.

The food court(second level) at the Royal Hawaii Center(and the same goes for this shopping center; it was really, really old and ugly in ’05, when we first visited Waikiki) sure has come a long way. We also ate at a couple other places at the food court(Phở Factory & Mahaloha Burgers) during our week long vacation last year. I didn’t go up to the counter as I was saving our group’s seats plus had the little guy in a highchair(busy food court but at lunch, by far, it’s crazy busy; less manic at dinner time). I can’t comment on the cashier’s manner. The prices are reasonable, under $ 10 a person, on average, for most meals here. The choices of meat are: steak, seafood(shimp or fish), & chicken. Choice of half or full plate(served in styrofoam to-go boxes). Though I was under the weather(had a touch of food poisoning earlier, from another place), I thought the taste of the fish was very good, but not at all greasy or oily. I should’ve gotten the chicken though. Might’ve been better for my system and state. Anyhoo, I gave the rest of the fish to my hubby. He also had something from there, but I can’t recall what it was, though. Another person in our group also got something(we all got the idea to eat there, from here, actually). I will gladly go again, maybe soon…

Sad counter person! She just didn’t seem happy to be there, not rude, just unsmiley. I hoped the garlic shrimp would make up for it, I was wrong. I ordered the regular garlic shrimp plate, and it came with 8 shrimps, not large ones, just average. The island is only so big, you would think the owner has eaten shrimp in Kahuku or the North Shore’s shrimp trucks. The shrimp was unnaturally sweet, like sugar was added. There was a ton of onions, and barely any shrimp. I’m pretty sure they didn’t use butter, but margarine, yuck! It felt like an oily film was left behind in my mouth. Sad counter person + sad shrimp = sad customer

Came here Sunday evening with my boyfriend and my dog after running an errand. While the food was tasty and probably the best option in the food court, but just the same as some other reviewer said– oily & the cashier needs to smile. The girl I first thought was the cashier just walked right by me then proceeded to look very involved with her smartphone. The cashier then politely greeted me, but then when I asked about the portion size, her explanation was that the half of the regular… Then I again asked how much is that? Half of what? What’s the full size one? Then she points at the picture saying 8oz. I then ask is that the half or full and finally get a useful quantitative answer. I proceed to pay ~$ 37 for both full size steak and shrimp combos and asked the 3rd girl prepping the box to do all toss no rice. The only useful & attentive person of 3 girls standing in the front. Waited about 5 mins and got my food. The steak was tasty but tough and oily; the 4PC of shrimp in the full size were good size shrimp and pretty good quality, but not seasoned the greatest-just loaded up with sautéed onions. Tossed salad was just ice burg lettuce in my box with 1 scant piece of purple cabbage. My boyfriend’s box appeared to have a scant piece of carrot shred, but hardly either I would consider to be salad– just lettuce. While finishing up the food, I guess the 1st girl got more board and proceeds to lay her her upper body across the counter… Wish there was more options in the food court… Sad the food at this counter in the food court is actually is better than the other limited options… Next time I’ll have to try the new curry time place that just opened up in the food court.

Tried their Garlic Shrimp and it just was not appetizing. Too oily for my taste. Sam’s Kitchen is a better alternative. I sometimes wonder why Waikiki with all the tourists already there and yet the food establishments can’t mimic the garlic shrimp recipe used by all the shrimp trucks in the north shore. The girl at the counter also needs to smile more and be more customer service oriented. Every time I go there, she doesn’t seem to be very happy and so procedural when taking your order.

this is one of my go to fast food places in the Royal Hawaiian food court. It’s easy to miss as it is at a far end, tucked behind the 5 – 0 Lounge. they have some great gluten free options like the steak and shrimp plate. The steak and shrimp is cooked using salt & pepper and butter, garlic & onions. yummy and quick!

I had half size of steak and fish combo plate, and the steak was the toughest steak I have had in a long time. I used 10% off coupon, so it was $ 8.95, but felt like it was not even worth $ 9.00. No second time.

It was our first night in Honolulu when my fiancé and I tried this place after finding all the restaurants in Waikiki strip closed. It was one of the three spots still open in the food court at around 10pm. Food was a little over priced but very delicious. My fiancé had the full order of garlic shrimp and steak; and I got the half order of the shrimp. Both orders came with rice and salad. The steak was very juicy and yummy. Both the shrimp and the steak were big and have good quality considering it was food court/fast food.

This place was in my opinion the best place to eat when you are in the food court, the food is rather expensive BUT they have a coupon in a magazine that gives you 10% off ! The food was delicious, I had the steak and shrimp combo and my bf had the steak and fish. I was very disappointed that they didn’t have a fish and chicken combo but what can you do. All in all the food was great and it was a very very nice portion size for my money MUSTMAKEMORECOMBOITEMS !!

There are quite a bit of food options for those venturing out to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. For those who don’t want to spend too much money, the food court is the way to go, with a good selection of different cultures of food. What Champion Steak does well is that they have a variety of dishes to please one’s appetite. For tourists, some want to play it safe and eat foods which are more friendlier to their palate so «local style» might not do well for them. They do have different steak options as their name implies and also a wide selection of local foods like hamburger steak. I had their«champion steak» plate which is pretty much your basic local steak plate. Their steak was done medium and the right way although there was a lack of taste. Nothing special here really. The good part is that they point you to the coupon that gives you a discount in one of those tourist eatery magazines. Check it out before you eat here. 100 Reviews, 1 Day 20⁄100 January 12, 2013

Easiest way to locate it from the street(Kalakaua) is to find Kate Spade in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and take the escalator to the second floor. Its in the food court to your right of this escalator. Tried this place since a friend from out of town found a coupon for 10% off in one of the food magazines and he wanted some garlic shrimp. We were very sadly disappointed, as we were used to the north shore garlic shrimp standard. The garlic shrimp had more onions than garlic, and even at that it lacked flavor(it reminded me of when you soak onions to remove that«bite», but the onions had been soaked too long). It was also cooked without the shell-on, which makes for easy eating, but it left the shrimp flavorless and dry. Also had the spicy garlic shrimp, which wasn’t too spicy, and had a curry taste actually. It was different, but not what I was expecting. If you can’t make it out to north shore for their famous garlic shrimp, I suggest trying somewhere aside from this place to get your garlic shrimp kick.

I asked the people at the counter what they recommended, and they told me to go for the Miso Chicken. I was extremely pleased with it! It tasted pretty awesome, and was cooked well. Also, they were cool with me asking for all salad instead of salad and rice, and they didn’t upcharge me or anything. Only downside was that the half portion was… really half sized. It was pretty tiny! I think there were two pieces of chicken in there, total, and they were not large. Usually when you order a half size, it’s pretty much the size Americans should eat to not be total fatties. I didn’t feel totally full after eating there, but that’s okay because now I have more restaurants to review. :)

Got dinner from Champion’s to eat at the Five-0 Bar during the Hot Hawaiian Nights performance of B.E.T. I had the chicken and shrimp mini plus a side of fries that I shared with a friend. The mini plate was about the same size as a L&L full size plate at about the same price, $ 9. The flavors were great — the best quality plate lunch I’ve had in quite a while. The fries were crispy and the portion size was huge. For my money, this is the best value in the Royal Hawaiian Food Court and perhaps the best plate lunch in Waikiki.
