Established in 2002.

Sherlock Heating & Air Conditioning was founded by Aaron and Rebecca Sherlock in 2002, but its true history began in 1994 when Aaron began his HVAC career in Encinitas.

After 8 years of experience working in the industry as an installer, service technician and eventually a comfort consultant, Aaron opened Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning. At the heart of this new venture was the commitment to always provide the highest quality products, service, and installation to the client.

Since 2002, the size of the staff has grown from 2 to more than 30, but the founding inspiration remains unchanged. Our mission is to provide ideal comfort to our clients while fostering personal and professional growth within our team. Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning has continued to pair top quality products with best-​in-​class service, and is proud to have served thousands of happy clients throughout San Diego County.

In 1994, I started working in the HVAC industry for a small HVAC company in Encinitas. After 2 years of seeing the industry on a small scale I decided it was time to move on to a larger HVAC company in Oceanside, which at that time, was providing the highest quality services and products. I was looking for an opportunity to grow and increase my knowledge of this intriguing trade. Six good years of high quality field training and classroom schooling passed before I stopped to realize that the time had come for me to move on. This large company was losing its focus on the most important parts of a successful business… the employees and their customers. With my ultimate desire to always provide the highest quality service and installation to the customer, I started Sherlock Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. My goal with this company, has been and always will be to provide the best service and installation of heating and air conditioning to North County San Diego and its surrounding cities.

Technician, Jared, arrived on time. Evaluated what was going on with our system and gave us some repair options. What was essential vs. what could wait. He fixed the AC in the time he said and all is working well. Jared was friendly and knowledgable. Would definitely recommend Sherlock and Jared!

Jared with Sherlock Heating & Air Conditioning just left my house and I’m smiling big time. I thought my 16 year old AC unit was dead and needed replacement. Jared was very professional, on time and diagnosed the problem (bad capacitor), had parts on his truck, replaced it and I was up and running in no time. I completely trust this company and the owner, Aaron, believes in treating customer right. If I do ever need a new unit– I’m going with these guys– honesty and integrity are traits that I believe in as a customer. This is my second time using this company and my second review about them. I’d highly recommend them to others.

Having been referred to Sherlock by Yingst Appliance (who has our trust), I was feeling pretty comfortable with calling them for our air conditioning repair. Starting with Allison and Chelsea in their office, who were so courteous and helpful, they were able to fit an appointment in today (same day, oh my gosh. YAY!) even though they were crazy busy. We are having a tremendous heat wave right now. I can not say enough about Enoch and Jared. They were not only prompt, but early, and I was out, but they waited for me as I raced home. It is obvious that this company’s standards for their employees is very high, which I so appreciate. They were kind and friendly but serious about their job and got right to it. They took the time necessary to diagnose the problem and when they did and also throughout the couple of hours they were here, they explained everything to me which I also appreciated very much. I found them to be extremely trustworthy and very knowledgable and I plan to recommend this company big time. Thank you Sherlock, Enoch and Jared. You have made one new customer very happy today!

Eddie! HE IS THE MAN! It’s the first day of Summer we’re dying over here in Escondido. Our AC wasn’t working and we just couldn’t understand why since it was practically brand new and we only turned it on a handful of times. We ended up calling Sherlock Heating and AC and they sent Eddie over to us. Someone give this man an award because he found the problem (which was so stupid) super fast and was in and out of here in record time. There was no BS and he cut right to it. This was such a nice experience because he took the time to help me understand what was wrong, why it wasn’t working and then how he fixed it. Great service and such a friendly guy! Please call this company this Summer because I know there’s going to be a lot of AC problems.

5 Stars all day long. Brendon Tracy came out to perform the service on our Forced Air Furnace and Air Conditioning.
This was preceded by great communication with the office with reminders and confirmation of the appointment. Brendon called the morning of the appointment and let us know precisely of his arrival time of 8:30 which was scheduled between 8 and 10 in the morning.
Brendon arrived and went to work telling us exactly what was going to be done and how long it would take. We went over some paperwork and Brendon started his tasks.
Brendon was very polite, courteous, knowledgeable and thorough. He proceeded through his tasks keeping us advised of his progress. Finally, upon completion, Brendon reviewed all his finding, conclusions and recommendations with us.
Brendon is a terrific tech working for a company that cares about quality, cost and results. Go with Sherlock.

Just had an ACHP service done yesterday on the two units in my home. Their service rep was Jared Pratt. This guy was great! He took the time to do it right and to explain to me (every step of the way) what he was doing and why. That means a lot to me! The best part of the experience for me was to see how honest and passionate he was about what he does and who he works for.
I’ve been using Sherlock for 4 years now, and will continue to use them as long as I live in San Diego county.

The tagline for Unilocal’s 5 star rating of «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» is 100% fitting for the work and professionalism of Jared and Enoch. They were courteous and upfront with the entire job. I found them as an ELITE Nest technician via the Nest website.
I submitted a quote request for installation along with one other company. The other company was simply a hassle to get anything from including a legitimate proposal. I was called by a customer service representative the following day from SHAC and Jared and Enoch showed up that night.
They were two stand up guys with great sense of humors and always had a smile on their faces even when I was a frustrated client at the situation. They really put me at ease and I had no doubt I was going to leave this glowing recommendation.
After being involved in a whole house remodel over the past 3 months I can say that service professionals like Jared and Enoch from SHAC seem to be a rare commodity.
I will most definitely be using them in the future on all HVAC needs and recommending them whenever possible.

Just had a 4-​ton Sherlock brand AC installed. We have an older house with no existing AC lines. JR and Jo Jo came out to do the install. I’m an engineer so usually that spells trouble for the installers because I’m so particular. These two guys were fantastic, extremely nice, polite, and I have to say it seemed very clear they were interested in doing a good quality job vs. a quick job. It was a big enough install that over the few days I was able to double-​check the work and cleanup. A+ on all counts. A few examples; after inspecting the air intake, JR really examined the options and explained what the trade offs were with regards to the filter placements, grills, etc. Ultimately they took the time to seal off the crawl space under our stairs and install ducting to help make the air draw more efficient. Also, I had mentioned that I might want to update my AC panel. JR didn’t just give me a number to call, he took the time to take pictures and forward them to an electrician they recommend. Not a big deal but certainly would’ve been easy to just have me call him; that additional effort was consistent with their work from what I saw. So far, AC up and running no problems, and it came with the Nest thermostat, which is way cool. I’ll update later to comment on follow up service calls and system performance. One final note; Sherlock was NOT the low bidder, they were higher than my other quotes, however it is true, you get what you pay for.

Had great customer service again from this business and their team of experienced and knowledgeable technicians. Two guys both named Jared came and spent the day giving all of my air conditioning and furnaces the annual tune-​up and changing of filters. We have a large property with multiple units. Not only were they very professional, friendly and speedy, but they took the time to explain some of the challenges we were having and found a leak which they ordered the part and will return to repair free of charge. We are thrilled to work with this company!

We used Sherlock to install new ducting, and whole house heat and a/​c. We found them through the Mission Valley Costco. The company is the epitome of customer service. The whole process was fantastic. Justin our sales rep was great and Billy and Danny on the install team were very courteous. At the end of each day our home was left clean. The job was even finished early. I highly recommend Sherlock for your heating and a/​c needs.

I started with a Sherlock representative at the Costco in Mission Valley. My initial request was for an AC quote. A very knowledgeable and professional man came out and gave me a quote. I decided not to proceed because the logistics of my very small house and steep sloped yard just didn’t work for the outside unit and plumbing lines required. Then, I had a friend that installed a mini-​split AC system. It looked really cool so I contacted the guy that installed their system. He was nice enough but seemed confused by my project (I have an upstairs /​downstairs situation that requires a multi unit). The guy never followed up with a quote and I wasn’t very confident in him anyway so I reached out to Sherlock.
Everything about the Sherlock project went perfectly. Scheduling with the office folks is smooth. The sales folks are very thorough and professional and they got me a quote promptly. The installers were super nice and very conscientious. They went way above and beyond to get the outside unit mounted way up high on the side of my house because the passageway is very narrow. They had to use a hydraulic lift but it seemed like just another day at the office for these folks. Unlike the other guy that came out, they could handle the quirks of my house with ease.
With Sherlock, I got the white glove treatment and am I ever glad I chose them. My friends had a fire at their house caused by the way the other guy had run the lines!

Just had one of Sherlocks service technicians, Jared come out to give a second opinion on our a/​c that another company had said was dead in the water. After doing an inspection the good news is that there in nothing wrong with our heating and air that a good tune up would not hurt. Just have to say that Sherlock heating and air conditioning and the service tech Jared were very professional, up front and straight forward. Its been along time since this kind of customer service has showed up at my front door. Thanks again Jared !!!

Best company service ever. No up selling, or other sales BS as with other companies. If you’re going to invest in the expense of installing a new HVAC system – shop around and you’ll end up going with Sherlock. Eddie the installation tech was very efficient and completely professional in ensuring that everything was working to standard. Very happy.
Update — A year later and I’m still very happy I chose Sherlock. Today Jared is inspecting everything installed last year and ensuring its ready to go for the summer. What does it cost? NOTHING – FREE! That’s solid customer service.

It’s about time I write my long overdue review. I did my research and scheduled several estimates for an air conditioning install. Sherlock overwhelmingly beat out the competition with a thorough consultation by Luc and a solid reputation for taking care of their customers. It’s difficult to find great customer service these days, and if it is Sherlock’s intention to build the best HVAC company in San Diego, they’re doing it right. My install was scheduled for mid-​March, but fortunately was moved up by about a week which was awesome. The installers, Eddie and Carlos, were punctual and highly professional and they completed the installation and duct replacement in a timely manner. Sherlock has my highest recommendation for HVAC replacement.

I had a recent system Tune Up by Brendon Tracy yesterday. He was helpful, friendly, and informative.
The biggest value in the tune-​ups is the ability to talk to the technician who helps you; ask them lots of questions and spend time with them talking about how to use the system. Ask them to SHOW YOU what they looked at, not because you want to check their work but because YOU will learn about your system. Brendon spend the time to answer my questions thoroughly.
