History

Established in 1979.

Ganter Nursery is deeply rooted in a foundation of hard work, dedication, and passion. Manuel Jimenez, nursery owner, purchased the original 7 acres in Vista from his father-in-law, Emil Ganter, in the late 1970’s. Manuel had the intention of using the property as a growing grounds for his landscape business, but as local people began to take notice, the growing venture soon evolved into a business of its own. The main office began as a box, on a post, that held invoices and a cup full of change. The business operated on the honor system. As the demand for his plants grew, Manuel focused all of his energy into the nursery and phased out the landscape business. He purchased an additional 5 acres, and transformed the land into the nursery it is today. Currently, Ganter Nursery grows on 12 acres, and raises hundreds of species of trees, shrubs, vines, and perennials.
