We have been ordering from pollards for years since we are locals and have always had a great experience until this week. My dad who is 72 went in to place an order and have an early dinner and kindly asked the cashier to let him know his options for sides. SHEREFUSED. He explained to her that he has a problem with his eyes and couldn’t read the options and she still REFUSED. She claimed there were too many to read – and just stood there saying nothing. I am appalled that this is how you treat your customers and senior citizens and think you need to train your employees a little better although you can’t teach compassion. We will never be back and are extremely disappointed in the terrible attitude of your staff.

Never been to this place before so wasn’t sure what I was getting into. Went for a take out order so didn’t get to spend a lot of time at the actual place but I’m sort of glad I didn’t have to — it did not look very clean. The young woman who helped me was really nice and patient enough to answer my newbie questions. She advised me to get 8 pieces of chicken and it would be enough for a party of five but since I wanted to be safe, I went with 12(next option up). She was surprised to think I would eat more than one piece as she made a quick joke about how the chicken pieces were too much for me to handle. It took them about 5 – 10 minutes to have my order ready and I was out the door! AS for the chicken itself, it was pretty good, I have to say. Fried chicken is not in my top choices for how to cook a chicken but once in a while, why not? Certainly did its job. And I got an extra meal out of it. Points to you, chicken lady!

We have been to this location twice and the food was pretty good both times. The first time we had fried and the second time grilled chicken. The chicken is flavorful but I would say the pieces are on the smaller side and for what you get probably a little pricey. The side dishes of green beans, coleslaw and baked beans are good too. Although we did not have dessert, they did look very good. It is an older location but it is very clean inside the restaurant and the restrooms also. The staff is very friendly. We would definitely eat at Pollards again.

Great comfort food. The fried chicken is slightly sweet-the puffs are delicious. I recommend the sweet potato fries! Way better than KFC and Bojangles-right on spot competitively wise with Popeyes but maybe not quite there. Churchs too… right one par.

Pretty darn good chicken. They always seem to have a crowd. I go when I have entertainment book coupons. Better than KFC.

Don’t bother to waste your Entertainment Book coupon at the Tidewater Drive Pollards. Ordered a 3 piece white dinner and was told that would include 2 breasts and a wing. Got my meal and it had a small breast and 1 wing. Server who brought it to our table tried to say I ordered a 2 piece meal and they threw an extra wing on it for me anyway. When I asked her about what was supposed to to come on the 3 piece meal, she said, «Oh, its what we have most of». It was like she was saying they were out of breasts! Likely story! I paid extra for the all white meat 3 piece with 2 breasts. Never no problems like this at the London Bridge Store,

There’s not too much to say about Pollard’s. It’s a great lunch or dinner spot, it’s old school delicious and is another one of my local favorites. The Pollard’s on VB blvd is one of the oldest now that they’ve expanded across Hampton Roads, but it’s still the best for some fresh chicken tenders, some green beans & some classic Pollard’s puffs.

I’ll agree, I’ve had better chicken. But the service here is great. Incredibly polite people and very willing to serve your food to the table and refill your drinks. The chicken is good. Not kick your mom good, but good. The sides are great– mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, fried okra(awesome), all good stuff. The puffs are guilty pieces of fried heaven. My favorite(and you should try them) are the fried gizzards and livers. Dip them with extra texas pete and a little drizzle of honey. Trust me. Lunch specials for $ 4.99 can’t be beat.

Funny, of all the things on the Pollards menu, the chicken is probably my least favorite. Don’t get me wrong, the chicken is good – especially for what I guess can at least marginally be considered as fast food. But it don’t beat that homemade, deep fried goodness that you can get at my mom’s house or even a real soul food restaurant. The best thing about Pollards is the sides. Cornbread? Off the chains! Green beans? Bangin! Macaroni and cheese? Delish!

Average at best. I was surprised at the taste of the fried chicken they serve. Farm Fresh Supermarket’s fried chicken is 5 star and cheaper compared to this place. The sides are pretty average too… most of them taste like they come from a can. I expected better. Since they are not overly pricey, I would go ahead and give them a try to see how you like them, but once you’re done there… give Farm Fresh Supermarket’s deli section a try. Pollards isn’t even as good as Kentucky fried … and I’m not crazy about them either!
