Omg love there cabbage… One thing I don’t like is portions are so small compared to the prices. The ribs are ok. Potato salad was a little bland. I will try the chicken next time.

This place is Amazing! I was driving one sunny day down Virginia beach blvd. looking for a good place to grab a quick bite to eat when I got a whiff of some GOODOLSOUTHERNBBQ. I immediately hit my brakes to pull into the parking lot almost causing an accident,(which I’m pretty happy I made that quick decision to stop.) as I’m walking up to the little shack the bbq aroma was getting stronger and making me even hungrier! I was greeted by an outgoing southern man. That was pretty confident about his food and how good it was. After talking to him for about 15 min, and finding out he had 20+ years in the food business and I started to believe what he was selling me about how good his bbq food was going to be. Ok, so I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich, I didn’t get to eat it right away because I waited to get home to enjoy my sandwich. So my bottom bun was a little soggy from all the delicious juices that the pork was sitting in. Not to mention there was about a pound of pulled pork on my sandwich and the soggy roll was hard to keep all that meat on it. But I managed and boy I didn’t put that sandwich down once. And that pulled pork didn’t stand a chance! Lol I def recommend this place to anyone that is looking for some good old southern BBQ. I can’t wait next weekend so I can go back and get another sandwich and try the ribs this time. All I can say about this place so far is «WOW»!

J. A’s Bangin’ Ribs is a tiny tollbooth looking establishment off of Lynnhaven Parkway that packs a punch! It is a family-owned establishment, operated by a cute little family whose father has had many, many years of experience as a chef and has strong Southern influences on his cooking. Location and Hours(4⁄5): It’s right beside the USA Discounters on the intersection of Holland Rd and Lynnhaven Pkwy. You can usually see them from far away from the smell of that good ol’ bbq and the smoke. If anything else, it really looks like a white tollbooth with a grill at the parking lot. Look for an orange flag with their name. Unfortunately, they’re only there on Fridays, Saturdays and maybe Sundays, but you can always text or call their number to ask if they’re out there. Food(4.5÷5): This is really what you wanna hear about right? Well, the best way to describe it is that their bbq sauces are liquid gold! So delicious. Their chicken bbq sauce is slightly more tangy than their ribs sauce, but it’s definitely fitting. The ribs sauce is also more on the sweeter side as well. I usually get their chicken and ribs, and I’m always left craving for more. It’s actually good that they’re only open on Friday and weekends because it controls my craving for their bbq. My .5 star deduction is due to when you go there later on, I feel that their ribs become burnt and dry, and it’s hidden by the sauce. Service(5⁄5): PERFECT! I love how friendly the family is, and you can truly see that they believe in their products because honestly, their food speaks for itself. I would come back here for the food alone, but the family has always been charming. The father cooks the food, but I’m always charmed by their son, who’s always so polite and so hard-working at helping his parents. That little man will go far in life! Overall: Despite their location and their small space, their flavors make an explosion. I think their prices could be a bit lower, but considering how they’re starting out and only have that small space, I feel that it’s reasonable. A hidden gem in Virginia Beach waiting to beat out all the big name bbq restaurants in the area. I can’t wait to see how far this business will grow. Until then, you’ll see me on Fridays/Saturdays waiting for my half rack ribs and half chicken!
