I found Studio Noi through either a living social or Groupon deal. I made appointment with Mar. Mar is very friendly, takes time with your concerns and your hair. She did a great job on my Brazlilian blow out.
She is also very sweet and friendly. I would go there again!

I have had two BAD experiences with this salon. The first time — I made my appointment with Mar — the owner — for my first Brazilian blowout. I drove 35 minutes across town to find myself outside of a shuttered salon. I waited 40 minutes for someone to show up — which they never did. They called back a few hours later apologizing and offering to schedule a blowout for the next available Saturday. It’s very hard for me to find slots in my schedule but I was able to rearrange it. The Brazilian Blowout was meh. It smoothed my hair but it definitely wasn’t as good as the other times I had the Brazilian done. I noticed a lot of hair lost in the shower drain over the next few weeks and it didn’t last all that long.
Still — I thought I would give it another try six months later (I’ve learned my lesson now). I made an appointment, drove across town and once again — arrived and the salon is CLOSED. Not a soul on the street or in the area (and it’s kind of shady, too). This time — nobody returns my calls. Not that day, not the next day and not today. I’m shocked that they can run a business like this. I called Lifebooker and they gave me a credit. They are also reviewing whether they will continue featuring this merchant on Lifebooker. Since this salon is by appointment only — hopefully if they don’t get any more referrals from lifebooker and they close down. Unprofessional — I would suggest you NEVER trust your beautiful hair to these people.

I got my lashes done with Mar, and I LOVE them!!! She asked if I wanted to have them more natural or dramatic-​looking, and I picked somewhere in between, and they turned out perfectly. I typically don’t like to wear a lot of makeup, and now I can zip off to work without feeling self-​conscious about it. Mar is sweet, friendly, and funny, and she is very quick and gentle when she works. Best of all, the lashes are done wonderfully — each extension is glued to a single one of my eyelashes, so as they grow out they don’t tug and pull on my own lashes.
If you’ve had lash extensions before, I’d recommend Mar because she is skilled and has a great eye for making your… well… eyes look wonderful. If you haven’t had lash extensions before, run… RUN to Mar — you will not be disappointed!!!

I bought my Lifebooker deal for 6 months of lashes a while back for Butterscotch and hadn’t thought about redeeming it until recently. Well when I finally decided to get them done, I called to make an appointment only to discover that Butterscotch was in the process of moving. A little frustrating but I was able to get a hold of the owner and she was more than accommodating. I ended up getting my lashes done by Jessica and I couldn’t have asked for better results. I highly recommend Jessica for extensions and will be looking forward to my fills in their new location in Venice :)

I hate to give bad reviews but I have to caution any blonde who goes to this salon. I puchased a lifebooker deal for highlights, cut, and blowout. The stylist was really cool and friendly, I had no problems with her personally, and the color doesn’t look too bad. The problem is when she was finished my hair felt really awful. Very coarse and sort of like a brillo pad. I mentioned it but she was just like, meh whatever, I guess she didn’t know what to tell me. She had another person waiting so I said whatever and left. On my walk to the car I noticed that my hair smelled like it was burning. Not a good sign. Once in the car I looked in the mirror and sure enough! My hair around my face and a bit in the back was FRIED. Like omg fried. I spent the next 3 days doing whatever mask/​deep conditioner/​treatment, I could find. Nothing helped.
I emailed the salon pictures and a description of what had happened and it took her a week to reply. I requested my money back as I knew it was going to cost me at least as much as this loot, more likely, MUCH more, to fix this. At least she replied at all but I was told to contact lifebooker for the money back as they would be refunding it.
I would have been happy if she would have offered to try a treatment or just something to fix it, but nothing like that was even put out there.
The only other thing that sucks about this place is the parking. I drove around and around before parking in a spot I wasn’t sure I would get a ticket in or not. I ended up not getting one so it was fine but still had to walk like 3 blocks up to the salon.

Don’t trust these people to actually honor your appointment. I booked an appointment for a special occasion updo for my wedding. As I was on my way out the door 20 mins before my appointment, I received a robo-​call saying, «We’re sorry, but we are unable to honor your appointment. Sorry for the inconvenience. Goodbye.» I immediately called the salon to see if they were just running late, and could still take me, but nobody answered. I was now stuck with no appointment, trying to find another salon to do a bridal updo, with only 2 hours before I had to be done, dressed and made up for the wedding! They never even returned my call with an explanation or apology. So unprofessional. Don’t trust them for any important events.

it pains me to have to reduce my rating from a 5 to a 3, but unfortunately it has to be done :(
about a week ago, i emailed Mar about a problem i was having with the effects of the Brazilian blowout, and i have not received a response from her as of yet. as a customer of almost 2 years, i was expecting some sort of reply to my email… but i got nothing. this is what encouraged me to update my review bc i felt like i should have received better customer service based on how long i’ve been coming to Studio Noi.
long story short — my hair is thinning a lot, and i am about 99% positive it’s due to the brazilian blowouts. every few times i come to Studio Noi, there is a different lady doing the blowouts… first Mar did them, then it was a french lady, then it was this cute young girl, now it’s Val… instead of questioning whether i’d be okay with a different person working on my hair each time, i just assumed that it would be okay bc i assumed they were all trained and certified in BB… however, now i’m wondering if i should have been more careful as my hair has lost about ¹⁄₃ of the fullness it once had. i did some research online and apparently this is a big side effect of BB.
i emailed Mar to tell her about the problem i was having… i was polite and nice in the email bc in the end it was my own choice to do the BBs, so in the end it’s my own fault this is happening to my hair. however, i was hoping she would at least write back to me with suggestions about what to do, or to comfort me and let me know if it’s going to be permanent or not… but nothing. silence. total silence form the lady who has taken hundreds and hundreds of dollars form me.
i am disappointed :(

Val was super sweet and it was full of laughs and she hooked us up with red wine. AND my hair came out FANTASTIC. I just had it done today so haven’t washed it yet, but I can tell its going to have good results. I’ve had the Brazilian Blowout many times and realized that all BB are not created equal. Val uses the real stuff and did not give me a hard time for having super thick, waist length hair and using a Lifebooker coupon. The process took about 2 hours. I will definitely come here again and refer her when I’m sure I’ll get compliments from my coworker on Monday :)
Only negatives were the parking which cost me $ 6 around the corner but that’s no fault of Val’s just the parking situation in Venice and I could never get a live person to pick up the phone after multiple attempts. I finally requested an appointment via the website and got a response the next day. Fortunately for me, I was able to secure a Saturday appointment right away which was nice. I was expecting the oh, we’re very busy BUT I didn’t wait to the offer almost expires like I normally do… ha-​ha!

I usually don’t write up on these things, but I was very very happy with my stylist Val. She did a great job on my color and hair cut. Val was friendly and very helpful finding a style that went really well with my look and personality. I even have my boyfriend going to her and really like what she can do with men hair cuts.

Received a great Brazilian Blowout, used my coupon from LifeBooker and there was no problems. Great stylist, super nice, friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable.
After the Blowout the stylist did a dry haircut and it turned out unbelievable. I will definitely be gong back for my Brazilian Blowout’s!

Mar and her staff have been giving me Brazilian Blowouts at this adorable Venice studio ever since I signed up for a LivingSocial deal with them.
They’re always super sweet and rad. The kind of hairdressers that make you feel like you got a free life coach lesson along with your hair-​do.

Studio Noi is quaint, cozy, and chic salon located near Abbot Kinney Blvd. in the heart of Venice.
Mar, the owner, did an absolutely fantastic job of both cutting and coloring my overly-​processed hair.
I walked in with frazzled ends and an orange tint to my otherwise lackluster brown strands.
An hour and a half later…
I walked out with beautiful «chestnut-​toned» hair that, I swear, bounces when I walk. Almost like a Pantene commerical.
Yeah. A Pantene commercial. I said it!
If you want the type of hair that every female on the planet envies, then visit Mar. She can save you. And your locks, too.
Oh, and if you’re lucky, you just might get to meet Charlie. Charlie the Chihuahua. If you don’t think you’re a chihuahua lover, then this little creature will surely change your mind!

I went into Studio Noi scarred from a series of bad haircuts and a terrible childhood trauma involving some form of indeterminate scalp-​scorching relaxing treatment. Mar immediately put me at ease, and went to work tackling my torn up Jewfro.
Long story short, the haircut she gave me is by far the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. And, the Brazilian Blowout that went with it has totally blown my mind. I didn’t know my hair could look or act like this.
Throughout the whole cutting and BB’ing process, Mar was personable, friendly, engaging, efficient and — dare I say — fun. Yes, spending 90 mins. in a salon chair was actually fun. And, bonus points for the fact that I didn’t have to worry about rushing out to feed a meter or move my car — free, easy parking is a big bonus in LA.
All in all, I can think of only two drawbacks to my experience at Studio Noi. (1) I can’t stop touching my shiny, lustrous, can’t-believe-it’s-mine hair, which is making it kind of hard to focus on typing.
(2) I have a new haircare obsession that I’m gonna need to start saving for right about.. .now.

Mar is AMAZING! She is gorgeous, personable, funny, interesting, and a great hair stylist! If I was a guy, I’d want to date her. If I was a random person, I’d want to be her best friend. But that’s enough of being scary…
Scheduling an appointment was easy, and the entire process was comfortable and enjoyable. Talking to Mar was cool and totally passed the time, because she’s a great conversationalist.
I had a question about my hair afterward, so I sent her an email, and she quickly scheduled another appointment to take care of it.
Mar is unbelievably wonderful. I totally recommend her!

I purchased a $ 150 gift certificate on Gilt Groupe and got in to see Mar about a month ago for a Brazilian Blowout. I had to re-​schedule my appointment and Mar found an opening a few days earlier, no problem.
It was my first Brazilian blowout and with my long, unruly waves, it has made a HUGE impact on my daily routine. Instead of going out with greasy hair because I didn’t want to spend an hour making it pretty, it dries straight in 5 minutes (used to take 30) and looks awesome all the time. I also have huge, thick hair and it lays way flatter now. It’s also super soft and frizz-​free! Hooray!
Mar is super fun to talk to, I kinda want her to be my new best friend. I left feeling super confident and have gotten a lot of compliments. It’s definitely worth the investment, with a discount or without, because I’ve saved at least 30 – 60 minutes a day not battling my hair!

I also took advantage of a Living Social deal for a Brazilian blow out.
Studio Noi is tiny and intimate, which is fine, but as a result there is only one stylist usually (the owner) and therefore less opportunities to schedule the appointment and you will probably get her voicemail because she’s with a client. Just leave a message with your preferred date/​time and she will confirm with you.
I personally experienced no scheduling issues but if you’re the type of person who does not like to plan in advance then this could be problematic for you.
This was my 2^nd Brazilian blow out and even though it took less time than my first, the results are comparable even 5 weeks later. It’s important to shampoo and condition with sulfate-​free products, otherwise this will impact the life of your Brazilian blow out by stripping the special keratin off the hair cuticle more quickly.
Mar was very personable and she reshaped my layers and bangs while I was there, so I can vouch for her cutting abilities as well.

I notice a lot of these 5-​star reviews are from folks who have only rated one or two businesses on Unilocal.Hmmm.
Got a Brazilian blowout for $ 125 from the Living Social special. Took awhile to get an appointment (as is par for the course with Living Social deals).
I tried to call to confirm my appointment time the day of the appointment, but the salon owner never answered or returned my calls. I ended up showing up an hour early, which could have been avoided had she simply returned my calls.
The blowout didn’t work nearly as well as others I’ve gotten, nor did it last as long. The whole process took maybe an hour or less (as opposed to the 2+ hours it usually takes). I’d have been better off paying more for the real deal.

I purchased a certificate from Social Living for the Brazilian Blowout. It took three months to get an appt since so many people responded to the offer. The day of my appt, I got stuck in traffic behind a car accident. As soon as I knew I would be late, I called and left a message with the receptionist. Not knowing the area I was driving to, I estimated I would be about 15 minutes late. When15 minutes past and we had not past the accident yet, I called again and said, it looks more like 20 – 25 minutes.
After three status updates via my cell, I arrived 30 minutes late. As I walked in, I apologized profusely. Mar literally through me a dirty look and did not respond. She asked me to sit in the chair, & proceeded to start to work on me barely saying a word. I am never late to a hair appt and this was a rare occasion. The fact that she was not understanding at all, and treated me so badly, was uncalled for. Not to mention, I felt bad about my lateness and tipped her $ 50– in the hopes of making amends. She couldnt even smile when taking it. Unbelievable!!!
She rushed me through my appt that was less than an hour. Mind you, I have long hair and understood the process to take at least 90 minutes. My brother in law is a well known hair stylist from San Francisco and says he has never heard it being done in the time frame she did it in.
Long story short, approximately 5 weeks after the process, my hair is in worse condition than it was when I went to her. I have never been treated this badly and will never go back, even if she offered to do it again. I do not trust her and would recommend her to NO ONE.

Hey Mar! Sorry for not writing a review sooner.
The appointment: Mar got me into the appointment book without any trouble on a weekend day. (She said she works 14 hours day now)
The blowout: One week after the blowout, the hair is soft as ever. I did Coppola Keratine treatment a few months back… and comparing the effect to a Brazilian Blowout, I would say it’s pretty similar. I heard the BB does not have Formaldehyde… so I guess the BB is a better pick.
Mar has awesome skills too. she finished the whole process in 1.5 hr (compare to 2.5 hr for my Coppola)
Price: I bought one of the living social deals few weeks ago, so the deal is unbeatable! With or without the deal, I’ll definitely recommend this spot.
