I tried calling several times and they would pick up and hang up immediately.

When it comes to Mac, and finding hard to fine items, these kids do a great job at it. Would love to see one of their store have a mock showroom of the old and new items. But alas I am dreaming…

I’m giving a modest review as it stands because all I can say right now is «so far, so good…» My Powerbook G4 came down with a «mysterious» issue that the geniuses at the Genius Bar at the Mac Store in Manhattan Beach couldn’t quite figure out. According to their diagnosis, it could be one of ten things, all of which would cost be approximately the same price as buying a new laptop. But to their credit, they handed me a list of trusted third-party service providers that may be able to piece my laptop back together for a fraction of the cost. I put in a call to MacExperts and they told me to bring it right in — no appointment necessary(unlike the Genius Bar). They were patient and laid back. They took my baby and told me I’d have her back within 3 – 5 days… I left feeling confident that they will take great care of her and the hassle-free initial experience warranted a 3-star review in my book… Hopefully the stars shall shine even brighter in the next 3 – 5 days…

Just want to say that these guys may appear at first unfriendly but they are friendly and very helpful. They spoke with me on the telephone longer than most other shops would have to help figure out if I needed to spend money and bring my computer in to them or if I could solve it on my own. Helpful in these tough economic times. They are in my neighborhood, so it is very convenient, and they aren’t one of those obnoxious impersonal stores that tend to overlook you unless you make yourself known. I also like that they are a mom and pop type outfit, and have helped me out of a jam more than once. No waiting as well when you go in.

I came here years ago, glad that there was a Mac Store within minutes of me. Plus, it was clearly kind of a mom-and-pop operation(that is, if «mom and pop» are uncaring, rude and miserable bastards), the kind that I like to try to support with my wallet. I bought a cordless mouse there that gave up the ghost a couple of months after I bought it. I’d lost the receipt, but I figured that I’d be in their system, and a mouse shouldn’t die after a couple of months, right? Well, they said that they couldn’t find any record of me, so I had to eat it — they would not take it back or exchange it. I told them I’d never shop there again, and since then, I’ve bought two different Macintosh laptops and two different desktops(partly because of a burglary), none of them from MacExperts. Flash forward to the other day: I was in a bind and needed to get an iPod car charger for an unexpected road trip; I was in a hurry, they were close, so I popped in. Three people were doing something behind the counter, and fourth was hanging Christmas lights, and no one was interested in helping me. Finally, the girl hanging Christmas lights deigned to get a charger out of a cabinet for me, clearly annoyed at having to ring something up for a measly $ 25.00(waaay too much for something that plugs into a cigarette lighter, but oh well, I was in a hurry). She was so clearly bored that when I automatically said, «Thank you,» after she gave me my receipt, she didn’t even bother to respond. How do people like this stay in business? They’ve since moved(for the second time in about three or four years) farther south on Lincoln near Venice Blvd., but really, don’t bother. Go the Apple Store at the Promenade and brave the crowds — at least they’re happy to see you there!
