This place is great – i stopped in with my roommate this afternoon to fix my cracked iphone screen, and they did it in less than an hour. They even fixed a small crack in my roommate’s phone fo’ free. Their prices are a tad higher than the usual for this type of place, but it is worth it. I trust these guys to do the job right.

A++ there’s not a single tech shop that won’t try and rip you off. This is a gem!

Treasures are to be found everywhere on the famous Abbot Kinney, but who knew I would find the «unicorn» I was looking for in this amazing spot. I was a victim of a bad OS X install, and desperately needed a Firewire 800 cable to retrieve data of the older laptop, run it through the new one, and onto a hard disk for safekeeping while I erase and reinstall on the old computer. Well, turns out Firewire 800 has gone the way of the dinosaur. Best Buy… nope. Target… nope. Staples… nope. Radio Shack… nope. Apple Store… you guessed it… nope. I just needed one simple little cable to solve a weekend worth of angst I created just trying to get my old laptop set up for my wife to use at home. Good intentions right?
Well, after the last strikeout at Staples… I was ready to do it… yes, I was going to go to Fry’s. I was going to leave my newborn baby and wife at home, and drive all the way down to Manhattan Beach and enter the heartless, soul less hallows of the Fry. The last resort, and the worst. Frys to me is like rolling naked through broken glass. They have what you need… but good luck trying to find it… good luck trying to get respect from any sales associate… good luck in that ridiculous check out line with fellow shoppers, most who haven’t showered in years, and are picking up new components for their latest hacking adventure… okay. you get the point.
So I googled Mac Computer Repair, and boom… Tech Studio popped up. On Abbot Kinney? Wow. And the super nice guy that answered the phone, immediately knew what I was talking about, and offered up two options, a 2 footer or a 10 footer… available right then and there, just a short 4 minute drive away. I almost cried. It was within my reach. When I arrived, I was greeted like I was an old friend, and this gentlemen seriously wanted to make sure I got whatever it was I walked in for. I told him I was the one sobbing on the phone about the Firewire cable, and boom, it was sitting right next to him, ready to go. The unicorn. In his hands. A quick credit card transaction, and some great advice on how to handle the computer challenge I am facing, and I was on my way. 36 hours of looking for this cable, determined NOT to order it off of Amazon and (yeah I know) wait a day or two… or go to the dreaded Fry’s or the abyss of the Apple Store.
On my way out, I caught the «big picture» of what this place capable of… mac, pc… home repair… basically, the IT department you dream of having at your disposal, close by, and with a great attitude.
They solved my cable search problem. And they will no doubt be my go to guys for any needs I have in the future. It was a small thing, this damn cable… but their response, the fact they had it, and let me know that they were there for me should I need anything further… they just won themselves a new customer. I’ll bring my computers that I seem to jam up constantly, head over to Lemonade for lunch or the Brig for a beer… and then return with a smile to an efficiently repaired item.
Thanks guys. You made my day!!! As I finish typing this, the backup is complete, the computer is safe… no I can go to town screwing it up even more so that I have a reason to come back.

Fantastic customer service. Matt is the best! I thought my MacBook Pro had died, but Matt brought it back to life, dusted it off and cleaned it up – no charge! Tech Studio is my new favorite go-​to computer repair shop!!!

Very happy with these guys. I had waited way too long to update my Mac to a new operating system, and when I belatedly tried to do so I somehow managed to botch the job and lost everything. Luckily, I had made a back-​up before starting the OS update. However, I was unable to restore from that backup. I took it in to these guys mid-​afternoon on a Thursday and they had everything fixed for me the next day.

A high-​design boutique that gives your device a new, cool identity. The customer service is unbelievable. I came in from NYC looking for an iPhone case and happened to ask for advice on where I could print an enormous document in the area. Instead of providing directions, Robert, the owner, immediately offered to print the document himself. This never happens.
These are good people and their products are the best I’ve seen.

These are the facts of my experience. I came to the store because my computer was not charging. The guy in the front desk ran a test and told me I just needed to get a new charger. He sold me a generic charger assuring me there would be no problems. A week later, my computer died unexpectedly, so I took it back to the store. It turns out the charger they sold me fried the logic board of my computer. After several days of arguing back and forth with the owner Rob, the store refused to cover the costs of fixing my computer and just gave me a refund for the charger (which took so much work to fight for). And now my computer is ruined. To be honest, it was a nightmare of an experience. The customer service was horrible, and Rob (owner was the worst). Completely rude and condescending. That place has a negative vibe overall.

Completely baffled at all the good reviews, wish I had a similar experience. Front desk guy was rude to my girlfriend, rude to my roommate later that day. When asked why their prices are higher than others in the area, the guy said «because it’s Abbott Kinney», basically acknowledging they are ripping you off because they are on an affluent street.
Took in my iphone to get its cracked screen fixed– they did it for a price about $ 50 higher than other shops. I was only in town for a day so had no choice. My iPhone home button is now sticking, I can’t hear properly when on the phone, and I keep having issues with the screen not responding to my pressing of buttons. A really poor job, my phone was better off with a cracked screen. When I’m back in town I will take it back to be fixed or get my money back.

Got my computer in and out in a couple of days and all of the bugs are long gone! :D Danny the guy at the front was extremely helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend going to this place it is super fast and friendly :)

Reasonably priced and stellar accommodating staff. Fixed my phone for 50 bucks on extremely short notice when I was visiting from out of town, and dropped it off!

These guys really know how to save your digital bacon and bring the digital goods.
As helpful as the Genius Bar can be for some minor things, if you have any problem with an Apple device that’s out of warranty, or one that the GB can’t handle satisfactorily (or affordably), Tech Studio will probably be able to save you, or save your device, or save you money and time.
The reason is that this crew actually has hands-​on experience with the technology and the crazy-​making, infinitesimally small and fragile connectors and components that Apple uses to make all their devices cool, small and light — compared with the GB people, who are limited to whatever solutions are allowed by the Apple GB playbook.
Example 1: We have a tricked out 2010 27″ iMac that was undergoing some video weirdness (wavy lines, blacking out, much like me back in my college days), and the Genius Bar solution: New logic board, $ 700+ that may or may not fit the problem.) The crew at Tech Studio espied the problem right away and simply re-​seated the display and connectors. Fixed, with minimal out of pocket.
Example 2: I tried to resuscitate an out-​of-​use iPhone 5 by replacing its exhausted battery. I succeeding in taking it apart, and utterly failed (as is usually the case in home repairs, as the i-​Devices are so devilishly compact) in putting all the little bits back together. I honestly think the Tech Studio guys are born with Microscope Eyes™, as my TS expert only had to look at my kludged together 5 to see that I mashed up some of the tiny connectors. They popped in a new display and put it all together (this time professionally and correctly), and the next day I’m back in biz with a 5 that now serves as the world’s coolest and most multi-​talented bike computer.
Technology, by nature if not by definition, is going to find a way to break down or get shattered, If you’re a casual Mac or iOS kind of individual, you should get these guys in your speed dial or contacts right away (and, of course, be sure to back it up!). You will at some point sooner or later want them in your corner.
If, on the other hand, you’re a super nerd who loves all things gadget-​y, there’s plenty of reason to pop by, in the form of a carefully and inventively curated stock of stands, mics, lenses, cases and device appurtenances. It really is one delight after another — if you like that kind of thing.
Finally, they are exceptionally local. And I’d say they are friendly, too, with the caveat that these are people who love devices and gadgets and engineering things and then reverse engineering them, and I’ve found that that kind of personality type can get a little bit impatient with mere mortals and civilians.

These guys are brain dead. I mean, they’re just barely alive, they’re THAT stupid. I called and asked if they could put a new battery in my MacBook Air. He said NO PROBLEM. Then I get there, and he says «Where’s your battery?»
IF I HAD A BATTERY I WOULDN’T HAVE CALLED YOU! Idiot…

They had a Power supply in stock. They had a man able to do the swap out the same day!
It went well. Drop of hardware and wait for the results… Emailed to your phone. Work could have been a little simpler but they did the Tech stuff I did not want to pull my hair out over. Nice to still find a SERVICE that will do this for you.
Price was fair. Guys gave a good effort to save my old hardware. Thanks.
Tip. Pet the dog. Crack a Joke. They will do what they can to repair the Machine. Don’t panic.

Here is an update. we dropped off our 3-​in-​1 Dell computer about three to four years old. The mother bother board went out. I was so disappointment. So We had to purchase another computer this past weekend. Hp all the data was transferred and the cost was under $ 100.00
All of them were very nice and professional: Jordan and Matt, can’t recall the other guys name.
I would definitely use them again hopefully in the next 5+ years.

If I could give this place six stars, I would. :D
We had two great experiences here, both in the last six months. First, my fiancé’ s MacBook Pro overheated — usually very bad news! But The pro’s at Tech Studio noticed that the model he had was likely covered by a recall — so if he played his cards right — he might be able to get Apple to refurbish it. My fiancé’ followed their suggestions, and lo and behold, Apple did rebuild his MacBook! An $ 800 repair — free! Tech Studio then replaced the MacBook’s battery (as requested) — a very reasonable $ 80 :D
In my case, one of my usually trusty G-​Tech drives went south. I took it to Tech Studio, and they narrowed the problem down to the case — all I needed to do was bring them another healthy drive to swap the data onto & I’d be good to go. No up-​selling here!
In both cases, they kept in touch via emails to show where they were in the repair pipeline — if they needed me to call and okay something (estimates and whatnot) they contacted me. But if you’re the nervous Nellie type, you can always call them too — they’re easy to reach on the phone and always upbeat & pleasant.

There are not many good local repair places left — everything’s online now. This place is a godsend if you’re in computer hell.
So if you need repairs — this is the place to go!

Seriously an amazing experience. My macbook hard drive died and I brought it in to see if I could save it. Nick was nice enough to test it and when he knew it was something I couldn’t save, he gave me a bunch of options + recommendations on getting it repaired or even selling the macbook on eBay/​craigslist since it was about 7 years old.
That said, I’m tough to wow, but these guys blew me away which explains why they have sooooo many 5 star reviews. Don’t go anywhere else but here for anything computer related. Honest, helpful and friendly. Simply the best.
