Cuzzins Yogurt

First off, this place isn’t a cuzzins anymore. It’s now a «#froyo», which seems like a cheap attempt to be hip… as this place doesn’t seem to offer much other than a name. The frozen yogurt flavors were a bit lackluster, especially in the fruity flavors. It was mostly savory flavors, which might be some peoples things, but I like my froyo to have the fruit lightness. The original tart flavor doesn’t have that good of consistency, kinda icy. The toppings weren’t the greatest either. I might be a little biased, but how you gonna have a froyo place without mochi as a topping? The sour explosive candy toppings were kinda good though. 49c an ounce. Given the location, food, and popularity (no other customers), this place won’t last long.

Cuzzins was delicious; however, it’s now closed and a place called #froyo has taken its place. The prices seem to have stayed the same, but the frozen yogurt doesn’t even come close.

I’ve tried quite a few froyo places, and Cuzzins remains my favorite.
Their froyo selection is excellent, with flavors rotating daily. I love the red velvet, peanut butter, and cheesecake most of all. And one of them is almost always available.
The toppings are top-​notch. Fresh fruit, chopped nuts, candies, plus tons of other goodies. I’m partial to the salted, chopped pecans and cheesecake bites. They also have hot fudge, whipped cream, etc.
For the quality of the spread, Cuzzin’s is really decently priced. Plus they have punch cards, to work your way up to 8oz of free froyo. Loyalty-​program win.

So, we wanted to go here after lunch based on a coworker’s great recommendation. But it was closed. On a Monday. At Noon. Why? Because, the sign said, they were on «winter hours» (i.e. not even open Mondays), despite it being April 1 and 70°. Maybe they missed the «spring is here» memo? Too bad, wanted to try it, ended up at Orange Leaf instead.

I enjoyed the opportunity to try samples of the many flavors before deciding which to get — there were over 10 flavors. There are also many, many toppings & mix-​ins to choose from. You should be able to create a unique desserts just to your liking here. This would be a fun place to go for a date or a bunch of friends.
That being said, the food is tasty but really expensive. I would never pay the normal price here. — when I went there was a ½ price offer, though, which made it reasonable.

All these frozen yogurt places are really giving each other some competition. Tried out Cuzzins and they are definitely a contender. I was surprised by their lack of flavors of frozen yogurt compared to other establishments, but when you have cake batter on hand I’m set. The toppings are the star though. The brownie topping tasted like fresh out the oven brownies on my ice cream. Even better was the birthday cake topping. Set my taste buds ablaze with flavor. All from a little colorful cube. Yes I was satisfied and my sweet tooth quenched by this chilled dessert experience. Hard to tell who is best with Orange leaf and groovy spoon also being great places, but Cuzzins is definitely up there.

The original Lane Avenue location is my favorite. I love the bright interior atmosphere and the convenient parking!
The yogurt at Cuzzins is serve yourself, and they usually have between 6 – 8 flavors. You can sample as many as you would like with the little sample cups. My favorite is the Cake Batter, it tastes spot on! If I’m looking for something lighter, or something to go with fruit toppings, the Original Tart is my choice.
Speaking of toppings, the ones at Cuzzins are awesome! The hot fudge and the caramel are served warm and melty. The fresh fruit is great, but isn’t always consistent. The cookie dough balls and brownie bites are the icing on my fro yo cake.
Make sure to grab a punch card if your a frequent visitor. Sometimes you have to ask – they keep them behind the counter. After 9 punches, your tenth fro yo is free! And you get extra punches for going when it’s cold – 3 punches for when it’s snowing!

I don’t know. This place just doesn’t thrill me as much as, say, Josie’s. But it sufficed to satisfy my sweet tooth and has a couple of tables, unlike the new location across from OSU on High Street (which I admit to frequenting lately solely ’cause of its close proximity to classes).
Tip: I suggest you ditch the toppings and just dispense every flavor into your cup, unless you’ve an allergy to one or another.

Yes! I’ve been looking for this exact type of froyo shop since moving to Columbus. I can only seem to find the places where they put the toppings on for you, which doesn’t please the control freak in me (plus — how do you make someone pay by the topping, various shops that I will not name? That’s SO MEAN.)
Their original tart flavor was great. They had a pretty wide variety of fresh fruit for toppings, including blackberries. My mother was visiting, and she was very excited about their sugar-​free flavor. She knows her sugar-​free frozen desserts, so that’s a pretty lofty compliment.
I live a very short drive away, so I anticipate that the people here will be seeing a lot of me.

It’s not even summer and I’m already tired of frozen Yogurt.
There are so many in Columbus its getting old!
What’s happening to the good ol’ ice cream parlors?
It was a beautiful day out and that means I need Ice cream or in this case froyo, and I had never been to Cuzzins, so off we go.
First off less flavors than other places, only 8 but that makes it cheaper since I need to get each one.
Also more expenve than others, I paid $ 3 and got a teeny tiny amount of each one.
It tasts more like yogurt than any other froyo I’ve had and I love Yogurt so I was in luck.
Nothing artificial, tart or bland, creamy and literally tasted like when you freeze yogurt, not watery like some others.
Really, a abover average froyo at Cuzzins just the small selection and price makes it below 4 stars.

Another fantastic frozen yogurt place! This is self-​service with a good selection of flavors at any given time. There is no limit on the sample cups here, which sit right next to the serving cups in the back. The colors of the walls and décor are bright and fun, and the flavors have very helpful labels that describe nonfat, gluten free, etc. There is a nice selection of toppings to choose from, including fresh chopped fruit, candies, caramel and chocolate sauce, nuts, and more. On our most recent visit, they were highlighting a new topping they had just introduced — butterscotch chips.
Cuzzins uses the self-​serve, pay by the ounce model, so just head to the back and start sampling before you finally narrow down your choices and move forward through the toppings before you get to the scales by the register. Our group really enjoyed the mountain blackberry, cheesecake, original tart pomegranate raspberry, and peanut butter flavors. Yum!

I am waffling between a 4 and a 5 here. I’m a fan, but I don’t *need* Cuzzins when I go to this shopping plaza like I *need* Yagoot when I go t Easton.
The advantage to Cuzzins is that it’s self serve. The disadvantage is that there are at most two tart flavors (usually just 1 — plain) out of the dozen or so they have in total. And the yogurt is a little bit icy and almost tastes too healthy. I know it’s healthy but I don’t want my stomach to figure it out.
The last time I was in they had a tart orange flavor which was one of the best tart flavors I’ve had anywhere. it went fantastically with strawberries, raspberries, and a few oreo crumbles.
They also have a freezer stocked with a variety of pints that aren’t available in the soft serve machines, so that’s pretty great, although I haven’t tried them personally.

I love that Cuzzins is self serve and that you pay by the weight. I’ve been to a few other froyo shops around Columbus and Cuzzins takes the cake! Not only is it amazing but most of my favorite flavors are gluten free! Also love that I can try as many flavors as I want without having to ask for more than 2 sample cups.
Cuzzins always has Original Tart which is one of my favorites. I like pairing it with one of the other more sweeter flavors such as Blueberry or Mountain Blackberry. I think the Original Tart is a staple and I’m happy they never exchange it for a new flavor.
I’ve tasted the chocolatey flavors and they too are delicious. One of my faves is the Cookies n Cream or good ol’ Chocolate. I was in recently and tried the Pralines n Cream — LOVED IT! Another good one is Strawberry!
I’ve only tasted one or two less desirable flavors such as Banana or the Cheesecake. It didn’t taste anything like cheesecake… maybe the machine was missing an ingredient? Its possible they haven’t perfected this recipe yet because I’ve tasted Cheesecake in another froyo location and it was to die for!
I love that there’s a wide variety of toppings to choose from. I usually go for pecans or walnuts and fruit. But you really can’t go wrong with toppings.

Frozen Yogurt definitely has its place. It occurs to me that, for a period in the 80s, there were TCBYs everywhere. Thank goodness that trend is over, cause now we get places like Cuzzins.
There’s certainly an appeal to a delicious frozen treat you know is technically healthier for you than plain old ice cream. Make your own toppings, too? Sure thing — and it’s good stuff too. They don’t provide you with Hydrox cookies or anything. You get the real deal. The coconut yogurt was pretty damn god. They even have a nice area to sit outside. Nothing like enjoying some cool treats in the heat.
Why not more stars? I just don’t like Frozen Yogurt that much. Like I said, it has its place, definitely. But this is a town with Jeni’s, Graeters, and Johnson’s, just to name a few.
You gotta bring it in when you’re in the frozen dairy dessert category in this town.

Cuzzins is my first experience at a self-​serve frozen yogurt place. I walked in and must have looked incredibly confused because an employee (I think he was the manager actually) gave me quick and easy instructions on how to dispense the yogurt. There was I believe 12 different flavors available, and there was also an option to swirl two flavors together. I had to have a variety in my yogurt cup so I mixed cappucino, cake batter, and vanilla yogurt in the same cup (the cups are bucket-​sized, by the way, I think it’s a conspiracy). There is an enormous variety of toppings available, from fruit/​berries, cereal/​granolas, to candy/​cookie toppings.
One thing I also like about this place is that they have the tart-​style yogurt as well as the sweet kinds (like chocolate or cake batter).
Their loyalty/​frequent customer card is cool too. You get punches based on the weather. Normal/​nice weather gets one punch. Raining or below 40 degrees gets two punches. Snowing gets three punches. Below 32 degrees gets 4 punches. Below 0 degrees gets five punches. After 9 punches, your 10^th yogurt is free (up to 8 ounces). I got 4 punches on my first visit. The card is a really genius way to get people to still come in in the cold weather (unless you’re me, then you eat ice cream or fro yo no matter the weather).
They also offer ready packed containers of fro yo to go. I believe this place will be a must-​stop for me any time I’m in this area anymore. Great stuff!

«Fro-​yo» is one thing about the west coast that I deeply missed during my first two years in Columbus. That is, until last summer, when Cuzzins opened about 5 minutes from my house. Sure, the prices are higher than they are in San Diego (where you’ll find this delectable treat anywhere from 30 – 38 cents per ounce, while Cuzzins charges 44 cents/​oz). But this is real, yummy, legitimate self-​serve frozen yogurt! And after their first few months (when their tart was just a bit off, and they were experimenting with getting the flavors right) I can now legitimately say that Cuzzins’ fro-​yo is just as good as back home.
So, what’s the fro-​yo hype? Why get obsessed with it? What differentiates this self-​serve place from, say, Red Mango (which also opened relatively recently — around a year and a half ago — near OSU)?
(a) Self-​serve is awesome. You pay by the ounce, so you can have as many different kinds of yogurt (they have 10 flavors that rotate regularly, although I’m pretty sure tart stays year-​round) and as many different toppings as your little heart desires. Fill up a small tub with fresh, light yogurt, berries, caramel sauce, cookie crumbles, granola, or whatever brightens your day, and pay around $ 4 – 5 for your tasty treat.
(b) Cuzzins is particularly awesome because of their punch-​card system. Like many other establishments, Cuzzins has a «frequent buyer» type card where you get punches (in the shape of dog bones) whenever you visit. Cuzzins is different, though, in that they will give you different numbers of punches depending on how the weather is outside. So, if it’s a nice day, you get one punch; if it’s below 40 degrees, two punches; snowing, 3 punches; below 32 degrees, 4 punches; and below 0 degrees, 5 punches. What an ingenious way of attracting customers during the cold months! It almost makes me want to go MORE when it’s cold, if that’s possible, since I know that after only 9 punches I get rewarded with a free cup of delight limited only by my imagination (and their rotating flavor selection).
Cuzzins is cute (pink chairs!) and clean. The staff is friendly. I really hope they stick around, because I want fro-​yo to take off in Columbus and if they do well, hopefully their success will attract other fro-​yo establishments to the area. My reasons for preferring San Diego to Columbus now number one less!

Cuzzins Yogurt, opened by… wait for it… two cousins, entered the fray of Columbus’ frozen dairy desserts scene earlier this Summer.
At first I tried Cuzzins and thought that I could probably live without it. But I’ve been there a few times now, and I’m thinking, no… I probably cannot live without it. I’m growing concerned that there is an addictive additive in their tart flavors that’s got me hooked.
The self-​serve format ensures that I can get the ripest of raspberries, the peanut butteriest of peanut butter cups, the choicest of cherries and the ever-​so-​slight sprinkling of sprinkles.
I just have to be careful that I don’t overdo it on the toppings because man, oh man, Blueberry Acai and peanut butter cups don’t go together.

I usually don’t review places like this since there’s nothing that really stands out about it UNTIL I found out it was locally owned. That’s doubleplusgood (word up Orwell).
All that out of the way, though, Cuzzins is good and actually pretty inexpensive. You could go to Dairy Queen and get a Blizzard for $ 4 or you could come here and get something that is probably more healthy for less (as long as you don’t overfill the bucket you’re given — and I do mean bucket. Where are the handles? Hah). Plus, you’re supporting a local business.

Cuzzins is good. Red Mango is great. Does this review sound familiar? It seems no matter where I go, I always prefer Red Mango. But enough about that because this review is about Cuzzins!
Cuzzins is a cute locally-​owned frozen yogurt shop that’s tucked away in the Shops on Lane. I thought the atmosphere was great — just super cute and bright! But now onto the yogurt…
I’ve decided there’s two approaches to frozen yogurt:
1. Real, authentic tart yogurt that is the center of attention — like Red Mango
OR
2. Tasty frozen treats that specialize in sugary yogurt, and the tart yogurt is just an after-​thought — like Menchie’s or Cuzzins
I’m not saying that either is right or wrong — that just depends on personal preference. I prefer real, tart yogurt. We’re talking straight out of Seoul, the birthplace of the tart treat. We’re talking Red Mango, the original Korean-​based yogurt shop. Cuzzins, however, specializes in the sweet stuff. My friends loved the self-​serve sweet yogurt. I, naturally, got the tart. It was good. But it wasn’t great because they don’t specialize in it. It was a little too hard, and it just wasn’t tart enough.
So, my goal isn’t to deter you from going to Cuzzins. If you’re after sweet and delicious, you’ll find it there. But if you’re like me and want the original, tart yogurt, then head on over to Red Mango.

Oh, Columbus! I may have just discovered your new favorite place to indulge in sweet, cold, frozen goodness that may be more commonly referred to as… frozen yogurt.

There’s something beautiful and appealing in simple desserts, and Cuzzins is a master of the craft.
The Cuzzins experience goes a little like this:
1.) Enter to see a register to your left; six self-​serve frozen yogurt dispensers to your center-​left; a sign reading $.42 per ounce in the high center; a few small tables to your right; and pastel colored walls on all sides.
2.) Proceed to self-​serve frozen yogurt machines and fill up your cup until your heart’s content — or you realize your eyes are bigger than your stomach.
3.) Top your frozen yogurt with an assorted range of toppings including, but not limited to, fruit, candy or caramel sauce.
4.) Place your masterpiece on the scale to be weighed for payment.
5.) Depending on how much fun you were having pulling down the self-​serve froyo lever — be pleased seeing that your lovely mountain of frozen yogurt and toppings costs less than $ 4.
Now, after that shpeal, how can you resist going to check this place out?! Oh, and it’s locally owned and operated. Double wham!
