Doc Joe’s Rooter & Plumbing Service

At 2am this morning, our wonderful neighbor came to our door to inform us that water was gushing out of the side of our home. After calling and leaving messages with several 24 hour plumbers, Doc Joe’s Plumbing came to our rescue. Sean answered my early morning phone call, sent us an email confirming the service call and came within the hour to shut off the water to the pipe that had burst. Shortly after leaving our home, he also sent us a helpful estimate via email so we could have a better idea of how much the work would cost us. Sean was very polite every time we spoke, even at 3 in the morning. I would definitely recommend Doc Joe’s for any late night emergencies.

I have used this plumber before and did not hesitate to call on there service again. What a big DISAPPOINTMENT. I was given an appointment between the hours of 7−9pm. I then received a txt which read the technician Sean would arrive at 6:30pm. 8pm rolls around and no technician, I called and left a message where is the technician? No response to my message so I called again at 9pm, Sean answers the phone. I explained to him about the txt I received. Sean states I will check to see what’s going on and call you right back. No response back from Sean. 10pm called again and left a message. I can understand if the job your working on is taking longer than excepted but give your next job a courtesy call to let them know your running late or maybe to reschedule but to leave a customer hanging is so unprofessional needless to say I will NEVER use this plumber again. I wish I could give zero stars !!!

Absolutely THE worst plumbing service anywhere. I can’t imagine anyone worse than Sean or Shawn. He installed our plumbing and when we spoke with him 3 WEEKS ago he remembered the house and where the AC units where. He said he would be right over for repairs he OWED us and for contract to work on the AC.
He didn’t show so we contacted him again. His excuse was that he was on call. Well hello, we are a customer calling you. So he said he would come on Friday afternoon. Wait, wait. Wait actually still waiting as he never was man enough to even call to say he wasn’t coming.
No concept of customers and doing the right thing by doing what you say you will do. We spent 3 weeks without hot water and AC because this moron just couldn’t get to it.
We are calling someone else (as you should) and get both items working without having to deal with disreputable people. Shawn or Sean is not anyone you should ever consider using.

Not sure how their service is, but one of their drivers almost killed me and my son due to negligence and ramming thru a stop sign.

I hate having to write a bad review. But I thought this guy was the best plumber when he came out at moments notice to fix my shower valve. Then I decided to let him install a tank less water heater & water treatment system. This is were my nightmare begins. it was Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday he was supposed to show up at 9:00 am and doesn’t show up until 5:30! I said its too late. He then says he will be here at 9:00 Sunday morning shows up at 10;30. Starts work and at 1:30 says he has to go to Home Depot to get a part. He disappears and shows back up at 6:00 he doesn’t leave my house until 11:30 at night. He says he will come back to install the water treatment system. I haven’t seen him since I was emailing him and he stopped responding end of December! I’m not sure what to do now. he also promised to handle the gas rebate paperwork for me but I just found out it expired ¹²⁄₃₁!
I have asked him to please email me back and I get no response.

Really dissapointed in these guys after reading some great reviews. Called Sunday morning and was told that Sean would be at our home asap. Called again in late evening and asked us to be patient he would be out as soon as he could. Never showed, never called to explain why. We called again the next day. Was assured he would be out as soon as he could. Never showed. Contacted again and he said he was on the way. No show, no call. Contacted the office the next day to speak with the manager. Was told the manager was not avaliable, but he would absolutely get the message and return our call. Never called, no apology, not even an explanation! Will absolutely never bother with this business again. A huge waste of time.

UNRELIABLE and DISHONEST. We used Doc Joe’s about 2 yrs ago for an emergency water heater fix at our rental and they did a great job. Probably could’ve found someone to do the job for less but we were pleased with their work and fixing the problem within the day for our renters. Last year, we decided to switch to a tankless water heater for our home and had Sean out. He is very knowledgeable and talks a good game. That’s pretty much where it ends. After numerous missed appointments, rescheduling, and no-​shows, he finally installed the water heater. The estimate he gave showed a $ 200 repeat customer discount and a recirculating pump timer that he sold us on, saying the way our house was designed it would save us water and money. He said he forgot to grab the timer from the shop and would return the next day to install it. IT HAS BEEN 10 MONTHS and we still do not have a timer. At the time, we were leaving for vacation out of state so we told him to come by while we were gone and he could install it. He called me twice a day everyday while we were on vacation demanding full payment because he said HE was going out of town to celebrate his anniversary and wanted to close the books. After giving him my credit card over the phone, I realized he billed me for the entire amount; sending me a different invoice that did not show my credit. Numerous attempts were made to have him out after we returned from vacation. It was always a «give me a day that’s good for you» and then we would never hear from him when I provided him out schedule. He wanted us there so he could explain how the timer worked but he never followed through. Two weeks ago, I get an email stating my «job ticket has been closed»…when I emailed to ask how he can close my ticket when the job is not done, there were more promises of getting the timer installed and a $ 200 check. To this day, I have not heard back from him. Emails are not returned. There is no reason he cannot install our timer– the water heater closet is accessible at all times and his office is literally down the street from our house. At this point, we can figure out how to use it ourselves– just get the damn thing installed!
I am not completely innocent in this matter. I TRUSTED his word (stupid me) when he said he would come back. I did not have a copy of the invoice when I was on vacation to verify the amount he was going to charge me. I paid him in full despite not having the timer installed because I BELIEVED him when he said he was going to do it while we were gone. I have not put the full court press on him until now. I could have been calling and emailing more than I was and involving legal action these past 10 months but it’s a pump timer and $ 200 so I’ve put it on the back burner. However, everytime I see my water heater or get in the shower or see his damn yellow van in town, I get so angry. I cannot believe he is still in business but I guess with his inconsistent customer service, he’s able to cheat, lie and fake out enough innocent people out of their money at least once. If you do call him despite my review, I hope you are one of the lucky ones that rolls the Doc Joe dice and wins. Do yourself a favor and call someone, ANYONE else.

I had a nasty back up at 8:30 at night and Doc Joe was the only plumber willing to come down that same night. The other companies I called wanted $ 250+ just to show up. Sean said $ 130 to fix the clog and he kept his word. He also went out of his way to look at other low pressure water issues my roommates were having that were unrelated to my call to him.
I don’t know why people leave this guy any bad comments. He did an excellent job, sent me email status updates letting me know he was on his way and gave me more than fair pricing.
I highly recommended Sean and Doc Joe’s plumbing services!

Well, I have to tell you, Sean has to be one of the best plumbers that I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. He obviously is a man that enjoys what he does and wants his clients to be happy, regardless of the situation. We had a new kitchen sink installed from Doc Joe’s and he did such a great job, like he was working on his own home. Again, «pride in his work!» The one thing I did notice is that when the job was completed, it was cleaner than it was before he even started. Sean was very professional till the end and I would recommend his services to not only my friends, but my family. Thanks a lot Sean and Doc Joe’s!

Sean and his team did a terrific job at our home. They ran new copper lines from our old pipes and once our cabinets were installed they were out the same day to hook up our new sinks, toilet and shower fixtures. Very professional company.

These guys helped us when we were in a pinch. We moved into our new home recently and the old water heater was not working. We had no hot water for 2 days and were freaking out with a baby on the way. We called Doc Joe’s and Sean came come out to our house the same day and installed a tankless water heater for us. It looks fantastic and works like a charm. He arrived on time and the price seemed very reasonable compared to other company quotes we were given. We are very happy with the service we received and will definitely call them next time we are in a pickle.

Excellent expriance !!! Sean is very knowledgeable and effective got the job done quick went above and beyond. He gave my family and I an honest diognos of what our problem was and gave us a quote, we had been jumping around from my in laws and my parents for days because we where unable to shower even wash clothes cause all our sinks and tub would back up even after been treated by different plumber .Sean gave us Peace of mind and fixed our problem, I am so glad I called doc joes !!!

It was a complete disappointment working with you. What you did was unconscionable. You not only neglected to complete the work at my (mother’s) house, you haven’t returned the money that was advanced to you to do the work. You are unethical. You left the family with no walls, no water, no where to sleep. My family was homeless for months; living from hotel to hotel. The whole experience was exhausting, draining us of our patience, energy, and emotions. I hope you don’t do to others what you did to my family. We had to beg and borrow money to complete the job you did not do. And, still, you have not returned the money that we paid you. It surprises me that you have 4.5 stars when the quality of you work leaves much to be desired.

Planning to wrap up my day at work when I receive the dreaded phone call from my wife that we have a pool of water in the garage. Yup, the water heater has gone to that «Big Appliance Paradise in the Sky.»
It“s after 7:00 pm with the first game of the NFL season in full swing, and my wife wonders aloud, «Should we try to call somebody tonight?»
«Honey,» I remind her, «it’s late, and probably any service we call would rather put us off to string us along for a weekend rate. Just try tomorrow.»
My wife ignores me (never a surprise) and calls Doc Joe’s. What was I thinking? Of course, DOC JOE’S!
To keep this story short (too late?), within 45 minutes a Doc Joe’s work van is in front of our house, and Owner Sean is checking out the situation FREE OF CHARGE! Before you know it, we’re apprised of the situation and our options — time for a new water heater (not a surprise since I got 25 years on our dear departed) and Sean concerned that we will not have hot water for our morning showers! We“ll rough tonight, but Sean has us scheduled for tomorrow morning!
Doc Joe’s to the rescue once again (please see my post of a few years back) — THANKS AGAIN DOC JOE’S. We can always count on you — even if it costs me a «one up» on my wife, who smugly smiles but knows the, «Told you so!» Is unnecessary!

DOES NOT SHOW UP FOR APPOINTMENTS. POOR COMMUNICATION.
I first used Doc Joe’s about a year ago to reset both of my toilets. The young man that provided the service got the job done (to my knowledge) and was an overall good experience. Had I written a review then, I probably would have given them 3 – 4 stars. So, when my toilet started to run over two months ago I called them again. Sean Berg, the President, came to our house was very nice and let us know that our toilets were leaking around the edge where they had been sealed. I told him that his company had reset them less than a year ago. He said since the toilets were under warranty they would reset them again for free and bring out his leak detection equipment to make sure everything was ok. THIS NEVER HAPPENED.
Sean was supposed to come back later that week, but never showed. I made 3 subsequent appointments with him since then and not once did he let me know he would not be there. I even did my due diligence confirming my appointments ahead of time and each time there was no communication. I even expressed my concerns over the lack of customer service and plain courtesy, but it didn’t seem to matter. It was always me following up. I gave him multiple opportunities to redeem himself and he did not. If that is how the President conducts business than you can’t expect much out of the company. I should have trusted more of the Unilocal reviews. It’s hard to find a good plumber and this just proves it.

Two weeks ago, I got a quote for $ 50 to install a sprayer hose. This guy worked for Doc Joe’s. When Sean came here, it took him 5 hours to arrive. and I called him first thing in the morning. He charged me $ 130. He was here half an hour.
Doc Joe’s used to be dependable, and less money. I will use Mitchell’s before calling Doc Joe’s again. Oh. Sean also told me that the plumbing work done to my house was incorrect. That’s funny because the RC city inspector signed all the work off.

No stars might have to call someone to finish job
Terrible terrible never shows up had to call a lawyer for advice I also had an. open sewer line he will tell you he is coming but will never come please beware also dont waste your time I should give him a no stars also called the bbb on him totally illegal to leave an. open sewer line in your house please all call another plumber

I’m always a little nervous hiring someone new to come into my home. Let me tell you Sean was first rate right from the start. The way he took care of our clogged drain and broken pipe was amazing, he is an expert at what he does. He genuinely cares about doing the job right and with the best customer service ever. I would hire him again for sure. I can finally say I have a Plummer and it feels pretty good!!!

LEFT MY GAS LINE IN A DANGEROUS STATE AND I“M STILL TRYING TO GET MY REFUND EVEN AFTER THE OWNER ADMITS FAULT.
I had a gas line repaired by Doc Joe’s plumbing at a house I was remodeling in Dana Point. Much to my surprise, when the gas was turned back on at the house the gas company «red tagged» my house and said their was a giant leak in the attic.
I called in another company (Kastle Plumbing) who came in and assessed the problem. I was pretty shocked to learn that the technician that hooked the gas line up used the wrong type of gas line up and actually left the house in an extremely dangerous state! The technician at Kastle plumbed urged me to talk to the owner of Doc Joe’s and let him know the dangerous work that was done. Apparently this not only exposed us to a fire danger but also the possibility of a gas leak during the night which could have been tragic!
I called and spoke with Sean Berg who is the President and I believe owner of Doc Joe’s Plumbing. He was very appreciative of the call and said he disciplined the tech and would refund my money. In at least 4 subsequent emails he told me «the refund check is in the mail» but I’ve yet to see a refund, MORE THAN SIX MONTHS LATER!
Do yourself a big favor, find another plumber.
