Specialties

West Coast Jeet Kune Do is Orange County’s premier Martial Arts experience. Offering professional and authentic instruction in the Art of Jeet Kune Do, our program is dedicated to practical self-defense, fitness, and Martial Arts training.

History

Established in 2011.

West Coast Jeet Kune Do originally began as a collective training group of avid practitioners in Jeet Kune Do. By way of numerous requests to join the collective, the group began accepting new members and has been teaching ever since.

West Coast Jeet Kune Do operates as a California-based extension of the Intercepting Fist Organization founded by Chief Instructor Tommy Carruthers of Glasgow, United Kingdom. Our principle goal is to teach JKD as was intended by its founder; strictly for the purpose of self-defense in reality based situations. Our approach is to begin with a starting point; namely techniques from Bruce Lee’s modified Wing Chun, Boxing, and Fencing which serve as the basis for JKD. At a later time in its progression, students are encouraged to strip away the inessentials, and refine the essentials in the selective view of simplicity. We believe in the validity of principles set forth by Bruce Lee, and thus are committed to the progression of daily decrease.

Meet the Business Owner

Cornelius C.

Business Owner

West Coast Jeet Kune Do is led by Head Instructor Cornelius Clay. Cornelius is an avid practitioner of Jeet Kune Do under the tutelage of Sifu Tommy Carruthers. With over fifteen years in the practice of martial arts, he is an example of the continual student as he maintains a strict daily program of progressive practice. His philosophy within the Martial Arts revolves around Bruce Lee’s principle of keeping thing simple. As a result of this graduated ideal, he has distilled his accumulative experience in over ten different Martial Arts styles in an effort to become more simple and direct.

Cornelius also continues his practice in the Wing Chun style of Kung Fu; Bruce Lee’s first Martial Art. In an effort to understand the foundation of Bruce Lee, Cornelius diligently continues his research in his quest for martial mastery.
