we recently used c& w to replace our garage door. the owner came out and was extremely helpful in his recommendations and all our questions were answered fully. the door was installed within a week and the installer — oscar– was quick and efficient. the door is quiet and works perfectly. my husband likes the fact that the product and all work is guaranteed. great company.

I had a very hard time finding someone to replace the doors on my 3-​car garage. Between places that wanted to charge for an estimate to people who didn’t show up (multiple times), I was getting extremely frustrated. A friend recommended I look into Costco’s program and that where I got hooked up with C&W.
Every single interaction with them was pleasant. The contact in the office (Linda), the estimator (Werner), and the installer (Mike) were all easy to work with, extremely knowledgeable, prompt, and dedicated to making sure we were satisfied. It’s a little difficult comparing quotes because everyone does something different and uses different product, but I felt C&W’s pricing was very good. Werner even sat down with me to look at new openers on
and came to the conclusion that it would be cheaper to buy my own openers and have them install it as opposed to buying directly from them.
Mike did the install in one day and was very clean and detail oriented. Everything works great and looks fantastic. I have no concerns recommending C&W and having the extra piece of mind of Costco behind them is extra-​assuring.

I do HAVE to use C & W Garage Doors because of our HOA, but that being said, I have been very pleased. We had to get a new garage door in 2011 and had no problems for four years. However, in the past five months, we’ve had two unusual issues with our garage door, and both times, I’ve received very courteous help and they’ve resolved the problem. I’m very appreciative and would recommend them. I like to know that not only will a company install something you want, but also give you the help you need if and when you’ll need it.

Oscar from C & W did a fantastic job. We had an issue with our door. We made an appointment for Tuesday morning. We were told Oscar would call when he was on his way which he did. He showed up on time, was very courteous and professional. The job was completed in about an hour at a very reasonable fee. I can’t say enough positive things about C & W Garage Doors.

I went to C&W through Costco as I wanted to garage door company that was itself solid, but also had a large company standing behind it, as well. I did this after polling my entire street as to what garage door companies they had used and what experience they had with their companies (the homes in my neighbourhood are ~20 years old and were installed with wooden doors and almost all doors have been being replaced in the last 5 – 7 years).
Okay, I had a great experience with C&W, from Linda the office manager to Jeff, the measurement/​salesman, to Mike who was my installer for the doors (1 double, 1 single). Jeff, who took the measurements, was a former draftsman & was so precise with his measurements and explanations as to my options — I was thankful he was the person who came out. I also had a new opener installed as my old opener died the same day I placed my order. Linda had great telephone customer service skills, kept me updated as to scheduling, and was patient with my questions. Mike, the installer, was quiet, kind, efficient, a good explainer, and made sure I knew how to get answers to any future questions. So often it is the Customer Service of the staff which makes or breaks a review, so that is why I am going on about the CS here — I was really pleased!
The quality of the merchandise is solid. I’ve owned a few houses over the years and have had aluminum, steel, and wood doors, and I really like the quality of these doors. The doors are solid but not heavy, insulated, fit snugly, and are quiet.
Overall — very pleased!

We had C&W out to install 2 Liftmaster 8550 openers at the beginning of Dec. We didn’t do it 4 years ago when we had the new doors installed. Very pleased with the install and price paid. These work so much nicer than our prior openers, wish we would have done it 4 years ago! Very professional, showed up on time, in fact, he was even here a half hour early. Even got to pay for it with my Costco Amex card, that means 3% back for me! Definetaly would reccomend C&W Garage Doors.

It’s now 3 years later since my last dealings with C & W, I have to say the service and prompt response to my request of a new key pad along with a new remote was just as outstanding as the last. Werner is a smart business man while holding his people to high customer standards. I will always recommend him to everyone I know who needs a garage door.

C & W installed their Liftmaster opener for a decent price. The workmanship was good and it has been working fine for two months now, but there is a question on what they will back up on materials. The hand held opener I use in my car is very sensitive and will activate the opener if put in the glove compartment or in my pocket. Their answer to this problem is «I can give you the phone number of the Liftmaster technical support. All we do is take the opener out of the box and give it to you.» Make sure you know what they will stand by on any materials they put in your garage.

I had my garage door and opener installed by them many years ago. I’m having problems with the sensors on the garage door opener. This appears to be an electrical issue. I called to schedule service on my opener. It seemed like I was wasting his time with my minor problem. If I knew about garage door openers and electrical work, I would have done it myself. I don’t, so I tried to get a professional to do it and use the same company that installed everything. I’m sorry that I don’t know the correct terminology but I tried to explain the problem and the parts that were not working properly.
When I called the day before, I was told how to fix the sensors. If it didn’t work, I could call back to schedule service since the problem might be electrical. I wish he would have answered the phone the next day. I will go somewhere else to fix my garage door opener and make sure that everyone avoids this company.

This is my very first review on Unilocal!I am writing this review because I had to research 4 garage door companies twice over. A few years ago (2009) we wanted to get a new garage door because we still had an old tilt-​up version that looked hideous. After getting estimates from Mesa, Sears, Universal, and Precision, we decided to back out because we had to put the money towards our MB bathroom due to a flood :(Anyhow a few years later and guess what? Our tilt-​up gave out on us and we decided it was a safety hazard to keep it. So low and behold, I called up Mesa, Sears, and Precision once again (decided to blow off Universal because they didn’t impress me the first time around) and all came back with completely different estimates from three years ago and lame excuses as to why the «original» estimates were mistakes. By the time I had these estimates, my husband and I knew exactly what we wanted — an American-​made door, dent resistant with insulation and lifetime warranty on labor and parts. I saw a suspicious pattern with these garage door companies too. Lots of hidden costs. Sears jacked up their prices by 20% since 2009, Mesa doors are complete crap, and Precision (well I don’t need to tell you — just go onto youtube and see the complaints on them). I was frustrated and complaining when my mother-​in-​law brought over a brochure from Costco saying they do garage doors. So based on Costco’s customer service and reputation and my frustration with Precision, Mesa, and Sears, I decided to call. Dave from C & W called me back right away and he sent Werner Wilkes out to give me an estimate. (I didn’t know it at the time, but he is the owner.) What I liked about him was he was blunt and to the point. He said that Costco selects their installers and contractors very carefully because their service and warranty needed to match Costco’s. I believed him and with all the estimates (eight to be exact) that I had received, he seemed to know what he was talking about when it came to garage doors. Plus, I knew that if I wasn’t happy in the end, I’d take it up with Costco. Not only did they carry the best garage doors (American-​made Amarr) they were very cost competitive. They also use upgraded rollers on their doors at no extra cost. So I kept my fingers crossed and not only are we completely happy with our garage door, we are very impressed at how professional they were and how fast they came back out when I had a few complaints after the job was done.
The installer that came out was Oscar and he did a fabulous job. The complaints I had was that the garage was built down too low to compensate for my oversized opening. When the garage shut closed, the build-​down that Oscar did covered the actually design of the door. It looked funny to me. The second complaint was there was a very small dent that I found on one of the panels and even though he could cover it up with paint, I wanted the panel completely replaced. Third complaint was that the bottom seal towards the middle never seemed to pop out completely and was smashed up into itself. When I called Dave and told him that I didn’t sign the final paperwork cause of these three complaints he was very very nice and said that he would send Werner out the next day to see the three issues and order a new panel and give me a call back to set up another time to come back out. Sure enough, the next day, he did just that. The following week, Oscar was back out fixing all three of the issues I had. After everything was completed, I was so impressed that I knew that I had to write this review. I already referred them to my neighbor across the street.
Take it from me, after 8 garage door estimates and a ton of frustration, C & W is great! Oh, and if you are a Costco Business member and you use your Amex Costco card, I believe you get 5% back at the end of the year — another bonus!

Warner reached out to me to follow up on my experience. He was reasonable and made a good point that the foundation of his work is sound. In other words, I agree that the service was timely and the garage door system still works well today, so I’ve upgraded a star. However, I’m still holding out on two stars for (1) a complete job (as described in my earlier post), and (2) I didn’t mention this in the original post, but like some of the other reviewers, I felt pressured to buy during the quote meeting, and I need my thinking space on these bigger purchases.

My husband contacted C&W Garage Doors because the garage door opener was not working consistently. After telling them how old our garage door opener was and what the problem was C&W recommended that we get a tune up. Well, here comes the rip off. They showed up for 5 minutes, squirted a lubricant on the door tracks (which I could have done myself), never adjusted the motor case, then told us that the garage door opener was too old to work on and tried to sell us a new $ 500 garage door opener. REALLY, we told C&W how old it was prior to them coming out. I don’t mind being told we need a new garage door opener or being charged a service fee for coming out but to be charged for a tune up that consists of squirting a lubricant on the door tracks is unexceptional. We will be getting a new garage door opener but not from C&W.

Thanks to C&W Garage Doors and their advertisement through Costco, we worked with Werner who quoted us an excellent price on our garage doors. Turn around time from the moment the order was written up to installation time was only three days! The installer was nice and professional as well as neat and clean. Very pleased from start to finish… great job C&W! We’ll difinitely recommend your services to others.

I recently purchased a new garage door and opener from C&W garage doors (thru Costco). I had a similar bid from another company, but decided to go with a big company. It didn’t work out very well.
Werner came out to give me C&W’s bid. I had already researched the doors quite a bit and knew exactly what I wanted. I even had pictures of the exact door style and accent trim that I wanted. Werner took measurements and wrote it all up. He seemed a little miffed when I told him I had one more bid to get before I made a decision.
The other bid was almost identical in price, so I went with the Costco referral. Once the door was installed, I realized there was no accent trim kit. I called Werner, who said he didn’t recall talking to me about it, but we hadn’t been charged for it – so he’d be happy to install it for an additional fee…
When he wrote the estimate, we spent 10 minutes going over the trim, looking at pictures, and he had me pick the correct style from his catalog. So, either:
1. He screwed up and didn’t want to admit it, or
2. He left the trim out of the estimate on purpose to make his bid more competitive.
Also, at the time of the estimate he told me I could get an upgraded spring for the door for an extra $ 25 – just add that into the total paid if I wanted it. So, even though I paid the extra $ 25, now I realize that spring upgrade is not written in the work order either. Did I get the upgraded spring? I have no way of knowing by looking at it…
Don’t even think about using this company.

I decided to go through Costco to order a garage door because I love Costco and it’s great customer service. Unfortunately, Costco failed me this time. They sent Werner from C&W Garage Doors! (Werner is one of the owners — the «W» in C&W).
I didn’t have C&W install my doors because the initial meeting was all I needed. This is mostly a review on customer service. Werner came out to give me an estimate. I already had 2 other estimates so had a good comparison and knowledge of what I wanted. He quoted me $ 700 more than another company for the garage doors. I also needed 2 new garage door openers which he quoted $ 150 more than the competitor; but I would get only 3 remotes with it. Usually a garage door opener comes with 2 remotes each. So was he just going to pocket the 4^th remote and sell it to some poor soul later? I then asked if he price-​matched because I wanted to go through Costco, but he looked annoyed that I would ask such a question. He wanted to know what other estimates I got and by which companies. I named some and he rolled his eyes. Talk about rude and condescending! He said he was giving me the best deal possible for being a larger company. He explained that smaller companies don’t have the extra overhead that C&W has and that all Costco does is add an extra year warranty which i wouldn’t need anyway because he would throw in a «free $ 50 spring» that would last a lifetime. First of all, what does his overhead have anything to do with me? Every business has overhead; I just wanted a fair price for my doors and C&W was trying to rip me off. I saved myself $ 850 by going to another company (Denker’s Garage Doors) and am completely satisfied! No need for a free $ 50 spring if you can save $ 800 with another company. Don’t waste your time with rude, condescending, poor customer service!

I was introduced to them thru Costco in Fountain Valley. Werner came out to present the doors right on time. He seemed to have lots of experience in the industry and mentioned that many times but he wasn’t very open to sharing his knowledge. He seemed a little disgruntled with most my questions and wouldn’t elaborate on anything. I asked if I could see a sample of the door and he said he could send me some addresses to go look at. I should have moved on to someone else but I figured he must be having a bad day and he’s got to be reputable since he’s backed by Costco. I was also eager to get my ugly door replaced.
There was a lot back and forth with the discussions because of his vagueness but I finally chose a door. We compared some color samples to my trim color and chose a color. Werner wrote everything up and then he caught an error in his pricing. He forgot to add the cost of the windows. He was nice about it and discounted them some. He gave me the paper work to sign and I caught another error. The door he chose was the wrong one. It was one we discussed but thru much discussion, changed to the other choice. He made the correction and I signed.
I went ahead and provided my Costco Amex card for payment. The doors were custom so they would take a few weeks to get.
About a week later, the doors went on sale for 10% off. I called Werner to see what could be done. He informed me that Amarr does not honer any 30 day price guarantee and I’d have to call Costco but its a long shot. He rushed me off the phone «off to do an install». This is when I started to really get disgruntled. My door was over $ 3000 and he seemed peeved that I would even bother. Unfortunately, it was a special order and paid for. I was stuck with the door and that’s how he treated me. The sale was final, his work was done. I never heard from him again. I even had to call the office and bug them for addresses to look at doors. They ended up giving me addresses that were far away from me. I have since seen my same doors in neighborhoods near by.
It took awhile to work things out with Costco but they got me the 10%. Maybe this wasn’t so bad. About a week later, I got a call from C&W to install the doors. Oscar came out to install the doors. I was excited to get this done. Oscar was very nice and I was impressed that he could do the whole thing by himself. He put it up and everything worked fine. Until, I noticed the color of the door. It’s the wrong color. Not the one I had picked from the samples. I had picked one of his off white samples, I think it was the almond but it’s my fault I didn’t pay more attention. I’ve decided to live with the color and just paint my trim but what a mess. A huge learning experience for me and a warning to others. If you really want the Amarr doors and you use C&W just stay on top of the whole transaction. Good luck!

I recently needed to replace my garage doors. I decided to use this company since my neighbors and HOA recommended them.
I made an appointment and the owner came out and measured and gave me a price. He seemed ‘bugged’ that I didn’t sign on right then and there for him to do the job. That should have been my first clue.
When I called him back the next day to give him the go ahead with the job he told me to sign the Costco form and fax it to him? I was confused because I didn’t go through Costco, so I told him I was a direct customer and not through Costco then I asked him if the pricing is better going through Costco because I would do that. He told me to ‘never mind’ and tried to brush over it. Clue #2, I guess.
Then he asked if I could pay cash instead of credit card, I told him ‘yes’, but no discount or anything was offered? Clue #3.
Still I went ahead with the job. Price was the best of the three companies I checked with and I had recommendations.
The installer came out on time and put the doors in. The workmanship is totally ‘average’. I mean, it all works fine. But could they have been installed better… yes, definitely.
Now after the fact, I wish I would have used the company I have used in the past …, Superior Garage Doors out of Riverside. Their price was $ 150 more for the exact same doors, but now I would have gladly paid that for their much better workmanship.
If you are shopping for garage doors, check Superior Garage Doors, they do come to OC or try Costco if you are going to use this company, might be cheaper? Still don’t know?
