Southwest Engine Rebuilders

I cannot put in to words my disdain, disrespect, disregard, distrust for these folks. The word deceitful does not cover it. I am probably more personally hurt because I trusted them, it was my girlfriend at the time car and she was trusting me to find a good mechanic and my decision to trust these guys destroyed that car and caused he so much trouble I feel like I failed her when she needed me. I feel responsible for what they did. It was my recommendation.
Don’t get me wrong, they are likable folks. Personally I wished things had worked out differently than they did.
I actually may hate myself a little for liking them but I do. But I will never trust them again.
After they took our car for A YEAR nearly with repeat returns. They broke our manual transmission tried to talk to me like I was stupid. (I am an a and p trained mechanic I trained professionally on planes since I was 13 years old spent 4 years in hs. Training then did it professionally in the USMC then as a civilian mechanic and pilot the crap he tried to tell me was outrageous.
I was mad about our treatment and went to talk to people. The common thread I found… lies, cheats, Broken engines. I mean this literally, if I brought up the name, the eyes would roll and I would hear a story about broken engines, etc etc etc.
They denied breaking my manual transmission, though I knew the odometer was up… I took pics on one of the returns it went back so often, burning up 300 miles in 2 weeks and he called it test drives. I had a friend with a shop who had hired one of their ex mechanics and he would tell stories of the crap they pulled while there. Additionally he admitted he use to drive the cars around and got fired from my friend for… you guessed it… driving the cars around… and smoking in it to boot.
There was a woman in there who I we adored and don’t think she had anything to do with this, if she knew what was going on, we had a feeling she was not happy about it because she seemed truly genuine in her empathy but it’s family… I understand, you can’t cross the line. I don’t fault her 1 bit, but she does work there so guilty by association is still guilty.
I will be honest. I do not think they are criminally minded. It sounds foolish, but i think that somewhere in their head they seriously think they are savvy and smart at business saving money. When in my opinion they may hire poor mechanics and little bit ghetto or redneck. It is possible that They may think if the engine runs, and we never find out… then that’s what we paid for.
Some will read this and opt to go… I get it. They are such likable people… after it happens you will remember this post.

I have taken my vehicles to Southwestern Motors on more than one occasion and each time, they have taken care of me without cleaning out my bank account.
