History

Established in 1993.

A Mexican food tradition since 1940 has grown

into more than 75 restaurants, including more than

25 franchise locations. The El Chico story began

when Adelaida Cuellar’s homemade tamales drew

huge crowds at a small county fair in 1926.

Her sons opened a café in Dallas,

following their mother’s

recipes for enchiladas

with chile con carne

sauce. Today, El Chico

is still serving top-​quality

Don’t. Just… don’t.
Ok, a three word review isn’t helpful so if that doesn’t cause you to keep looking, here’s detail.
I arrived after 8pm on a Wednesday. The place was more than half empty but it took an unusually long time for the server to come to the table. She took my drink order and walked away before I could tell her I was ready to order food, also.
Another looong wait for a Margarita. Er, limeade; maybe with some tequila. And an order.
Wait again, this time long enough to discover the beat up, rough edges on the tableware was really just a layer of tiny, gritty food bits. New tableware. The food came.
Hmm, grilled chicken from a bag. Soggy fried flour taco shell. Pseudo cheese shreds from a different bag. Unidentifiable sauce on a «chimi.»
There is better Mexican food at any number of places. Or save time and get something spicier at the Panda Express drive through next door. Sorry, not a fan.
Just don’t.

I am not really a fan of el Chico and can’t really tell you why. I will say that this is probably the best location that I have been to. Our server was friendly and took great care of us. My food was hot and fresh. However, the food is just average Mexican food in my opinion. If you like el Chico then this would be the location that I would recommend you visit.

Went last night the service was good but the food was just not good to me. I am on meds and I might not have good taste just now. I did like the salsa and quaso the white. I wish I had a plate of rice and white quaso lol

Visiting family and didn’t expect the food to be good. Decided to have lunch here for the kids meals specials. But our servers were very friendly and the food was actually pretty good. Thanks, El Chico! I liked my chicken tacos.

I’m visiting from out of town, so I checked Unilocal for a good place to eat. I was seated fast, had my order taken fast and my food came out fast! And it was damn good and the portion was generous. Ingredients were fresh. Table was clean. I wish this restaurant had a location in PA, my husband & daughter would love it.

i am a regular at this El Chicos. I come in about 3 times a week. Every time i feel like a million bucks. Theresa is the best server you could ever ask for. She always knows what i know and knows how i like it! The food is always fresh and made to order. Stop in and say hi!!!

Food and service are always exceptional at this particular location. Server Theresa Hinman always remembers your name after the first time you come in. She always engages her customers in great conversation, and takes extra steps to make sure your order is exactly how you want it.
Managers Troy Guinn and Jose Mota continuously work to make sure everyone has a great experience and that you do not leave disappointed.
Food is always good quality, and very much top notch compared to other El Chico restaurants in the Tulsa area.
