Aloft Tucson University

I stayed at the aloft and had an unpleasant experience. When I checked in the front desk was dealing with a call from an angry guest because they shampooed the rugs and the room was soaking wet. Since the front desk wasn’t helping, the guest eventually hung up on them. My room was filthy. There was grime caked around the sink, toothpaste spray across the bathroom wall, and dust caked on the baseboards. When I mentioned it to the front desk they said I should have told them sooner. Ummm… I thought it would be obvious when someone cleaned the room. But even after housekeeping the room was still filthy. Yuck.

I have stayed here several times since it’s renovation into Aloft. At first it was wonderful, however the service has continually become worse. The quality of the rooms have suffered. I stayed this weekend and there was tile loose in the bathroom, my pillows were missing pillow cases, the exercise room equipment was dirty, and there was a heavy pet urine smell in both the room and hallway. When mentioned the urine odor to the front desk, I was told that it would pass, just wait. The bartender in the lounge was friendly and attentive; however, the service at the front desk was sub-​par and the room quality at this point is akin to an Extended Stay, not the quality of a Sheraton. I am extremely disappointed in what had happened to a once wonderful hotel.

For the service I’d give it 5 stars, but the building itself drops it to four. Our first night we were on the third floor facing the street corner and we woke up all night from the noise: motorcycles, car door slamming, and so forth. We asked to be moved to the other side facing the back parking lot and it was SO much better. The interior was modern and, how shall I say, done on a budget. We’d stay here again, but we’d ask for a room facing the back.

This a cute modern very college university style hotel. I’d probably like the dorm feel if I were much younger, but I will say the 4^th star is because I appreciate the cleanliness. It’s pretty minimalist in that there is very minimal toiletries and a lot lower end in the SPG family of hotels. Not my style décor but if you have teens or 20 something’s this would be a cute lounge type hotel that they would probably appreciate because of the pool table and the young atmosphere.

If I would’ve written this review when I first stayed here 2 weeks ago, it would’ve been 5 stars. I stayed tonight and the experience was completely different. The front desk seemed very uninterested in helping us out. I had booked this hotel because of the outstanding customer experience the first time around. They provided a dog bed, dog treats, a pee pad, dog bowls, and a dog toy for my dog. This time around, nothing. I had booked a room on March 16. I specifically wrote that I would be bringing my dog. When you visit the aloft website, it states how dog friendly the hotel is and how they provide these perks for your pet. I checked in on March 26. An entire 10 days later. I checked in and nothing was ready. I was told they didn’t have any dog beds. Turns out they did. So someone brought up 1 dog bed. My dog still had dog bowls missing so I had to call the front desk to ask for dog bowls. They brought up 2 bowls. Still missing the treats and toys. At this point, I’m just tired of calling down for things. The room also wasn’t vacuumed. There were crumbs everywhere that my dog was about to eat.
I was also told that the keyless feature on the app wouldn’t work because they were fixing the system. I didn’t see anyone fixing anything. The front desk people were busy texting their friends on their cell phones. I am a SPG member and am now questioning why I would want to be a member when I’m treated this way. Not sure I would even book a room with this treatment.

In town for a short weekend and stayed at this modern hotel. I’ve stayed at Alofts before and find them to be usually quite well done. Clean, modern rooms; but you need to know that to turn on the lights in the entire room, you have to turn on the switch when you first walk in. A little confusing.
The AC wouldn’t go down past 75 for some reason and it got a little stuffy.
If you opt to not have your room cleaned, you get a $ 5 credit for downstairs. it’s NOT for the bar and they don’t tell you that.
Fun atmosphere with trivia games at the bar on some evenings, wine specials, etc. Free parking and wifi.

This hotel gets my vote simply because of their effort to help dogs get adopted through the humane society. They host a dog there at the hotel (it sits at the front desk) until it gets adopted, allowing people that visit the hotel to walk the dog and pet it. I fell in love with Smiley, the wired hair terrior at the hotel when I was there. It made me feel at home! And he got adopted the day I checked out by someone staying there!
The rooms are large and clean. The hotel lobby offers a home like feel with pool table, games, bar and even live music.
I will be back next work trip!

It looks pretty, but it is lacking in real comfort.
I recently was in Tucson on business and stayed here. The hotel had all kinds of fancy furnishings that look really nice. But when it comes to actually being a good solid business class hotel, the Aloft falls short.
The rooms are small to average sized for this type of hotel. My room was very quiet, considering I was next to the elevators and on the street side. The bed was not particularly comfortable and the sheets were just awful, almost like sandpaper. I actually got rug burn on my elbow from rolling over too fast. The bathroom looks nice with the fancy glass doors on the shower. But the shower is situated such that you have to step in to turn in on and get blasted by the cold water as it warms up. The fancy tile on the shower floor was uneven and actually slightly painful if you step wrong. I also take issue with the coffee maker being in the bathroom. Why do I want to make coffee in the same room that I take a s – t in?
The breakfast options range from barely edible (don’t even think about the pastries, they taste like they came from the dumpster behind dunkin donuts), to acceptable but over priced ($ 5 for a tiny egg muffin that you could get better at McDs for much less.
On the plus side they have free WiFi and it is actually fairly fast. I was able to stream hockey from my room with acceptable quality. The service was good and there is a TON of places to eat in walking distance (if you like good pub food and craft beer try the Trident across the street.
Overall I would say a little less bling and a little more attention to the things that matter are in order. Given the choice, look for a Marriott, I will.

The hotel was clean but my keyless entry didn’t work so I had to go down to the front office to get an actual key. Service was okay. Location is great right next to UofA. Rate was pretty decent at about $ 130. Would stay here again but they really need to fix the keyless entry.

Definitely a fan of the Aloft. I’ve stayed at multiple Aloft locations around the country and once again, another great stay in Tuscon. Very contemporary and fresh. Original art hanging in the halls, good assortment of snacks in the lobby and a trendy lounge.

I am writing today to stay that I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Aloft last week, the week of my wedding and will have to seriously consider ever staying there again.
It was the most frustrating experience I have ever had at a hotel and the disrespect shown by the management at the hotel is something I have never experienced and hope to never experience ever again. As someone who is constantly traveling for work this was truly a forgettable experience especially the week I was getting married. I had emailed immediately after making my reservation requesting a late check out because I was hoping to get ready in my room the day of the hotel and leave by 230pm to be at the venue by 3pm. I never received a response from the hotel. I called the day before I was due to arrive and asked again and was told that it should not be a problem because the hotel was «nowhere near capacity but to call the morning of checkout to confirm». I explained that I would be happy to do so. I called first thing in the morning to request a late checkout and asked to leave at 230pm. I was told by the front desk person that it would be no problem. About 20mins later I got a phone call to the room and it was the same front desk person who I talked to before and was told that unfortunately I would «have to be out by 1pm» and that there were «no exceptions».
The front desk girl told me that her boss overheard her saying that it shouldnt be a problem for me to leave by 230pm and «got in trouble by her boss» for telling me something that she «was not supposed to». I went downstairs and spoke with the front desk girl and asked to speak to the manager. I was told that the manager was in a mandatory training and would not be available for some time. I explained that I would very much appreciate a phone call from the manager so that I could understand exactly why it would be an issue that I stay an hour and a half later than their 1pm checkout time. I left my name and cell phone number with the front desk girl and asked her to have the manager call me ASAP so this could be resolved. Please keep in mind this is all taking place on the day I was getting married so to say there were 100 other things going on would be an understatement. I NEVER received a phone call from anyone at the hotel explaining this policy, or offering an apology for the way I was treated. It is totally inexcusable to treat guests this way and am very disappointed. I hope that this is brought to the attention of the management at the Aloft Tucson University.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the week due to a funeral (sad). The hotel was not bad at all (not sad). I liked the décor and the front desk and bar staff were very friendly. Everything was pretty easy. It is kind of a more hip hotel than you would think Tucson would have. Only negatives are I don’t think they replaced the windows with the takeover and the traffic noise is pretty noticeable on the street side. If I stay here again, I will definitely ask for a higher floor if I can get it. Also, no room service. It is a little boushie yes, but I like room service. And the pool is creepy. But overall it was good.

I didn’t have particularly high expectations prior to my stay at the Aloft Tucson. I just stayed there because the rates were low and the location is convenient to the U of A campus.
My expectations were definitely exceeded, though. Aloft Tucson is like a little slice of swanky LA in the middle of the desert.
The place is beautiful. The lobby looks like the hotel costs 3x what it actually does, as do the guestrooms. The elevators are dark and nightclubby. I was particularly fond of my 4^th floor room, with contemporary design, a comfy bed, and a spacious bathroom with walk-​in shower. Big windows kept the place light and bright, although the view was of the dumpsters next door. «Bliss”-brand bath products are in abundance, but they come in plastic dispensers attached to the wall — definitely eco-​friendly, but disappointing if you like to take home freebies.
The hotel isn’t too large, but there are a surprising number of amenities. I spotted a gym, and breakfast is available. The real draw of the place is the «W XYZ» bar/​lounge in the lobby, which was surprisingly inviting (albeit overpriced) for a lobby bar.
All in all… a nice to play to stay.
p. s. I did have some negative experiences with the front desk staff. At both check-​in and check-​out, the front desk staff seemed completely uninterested in helping me. Giving me the cold shoulder while taking phone calls isn’t cool. (Maybe the stuffy attitude of part of their attempt to create an LA-​like atmosphere?)

I fell in love with this brand a while ago and this location is my new fave!
Free for me tiny little Yorkie to stay with me. Great parking. Friendly faces at all points. Late night glass of wine and bartender recommended quesadillas which were super scrumptious!
Also location couldn’t be better or more walkable. Friday night rate, if you book on the spg app, was only $ 72.00, holla!
Don’t pass this fun opportunity up!!!

I always regret staying here when I travel to Tucson for business every other week. Atrocious customer service. You’d think you were bothering the front desk staff by just approaching them. No one is warm and friendly. I lost one of my packages while I was staying here and they were so so unhelpful in my search for it. I called multiple times over a two week period and got a different answer to if they keep a log every single time. I wasn’t sure if I was being lied to or I was just given an answer so they wouldn’t have to do any work in investigating.
There is also no room service or valet parking, which is inconvenient for business travelers. I called to ask for extra towels and was told I had to wait because he had people to check out. Their snack bar is also pretty minimal with tons of candy bar options… Not appropriate for the clientele here.
The only reason why this place got 2 stars is because I do like the rooms and the gym is clean, but directly on the busy road so everyone can stare at you.
Save yourself the trouble and stay at the Marriott University at U of A campus down the street. So much friendlier staff, has room service, valet parking, as well as a more convenient location that isn’t on a loud, busy road.

Bliss products are great! Nice remodel with modern touches. Front desk staff is helpful and attentive. Salsa dancing on Saturday nights.
I don’t care about things other people complained about… no drawers in rooms, small sink area, no tub. It’s just a good place for adults… not as great for kids.

Refurbished but more improvements still needed.
Microwaves should be an amenity. Very small bathroom and sink area with poor lighting. Ladies, horrible vanity area. No drawer storage. Trendy lobby and bar area and friendly front desk staff. Hotel accommodating to young college patrons. Not suited for business professional and families. Accessible parking.

This hotel is clean And really nicely run. The people at the front desk couldn’t be more accommodating or efficient. The double queen bedroom is very comfortable. There are laundry facilities on 6^th floor, mini refrig mini coffee makers in rooms. The hotel is right across from U of A.

If you’ve stayed at an Aloft before you know what to expect.
Had to take off a star for a damn tight parking lot and my bathroom light only working when all the other lights were turned on, which was pretty annoying.
Good location with a Bruegger’s Bagels right next door.
