If the crew at Sears isn’t the most helpful them I’m the chupa cabre. They were genuinely kind. I’m more then happy to spend my money locally and feel good about it at this store. Thanks guys keep up the good work

We found this awesome place in truckee to use for appliances. The sears hometown store and it has appliances and yard equipment. I thought they would be more expensive but they were cheaper. The first time we bought a fridge on Friday night, and they did they could squeeze us in since our fridge didn’t work and would deliver it on Saturday. When they took the old fridge out we asked that he confirm the measurements before bringing the new fridge upstairs and it was an inch off. We returned the fridge and went to the store right away and the owner let us pick another fridge off the floor and then redelivered it the same day without any extra charge. He said we can buy our home appliances there and he would have sears deliver them and still get his price! The service was great and everyone was so nice to us. Thank you sears hometown!!! Love our fridge.

I recommend working with these folks for all of your appliance needs. They have all the resources of a national retailer with great selection, combined with the personal touch of a family owned business. The staff there was so helpful and professional, and when we encountered a problem with a defunct floor model dryer, the owner Charlie helped us debug the problem and rule out other issues, and when it proved to be a faulty item, he made a fantastic effort to get the unit replaced with a similar model. If you like to have a good relationship with the businesses you support, and especially if you are part time resident, Charlie and this retailer are the just the kind of people you want to have on your side!

I am very happy with my appliance purchase here. Charlie went beyond my expectations to make sure that everything is installed properly and I would recommend this store wholeheartedly for anybody that need to buy appliances in Truckee.

Found out after a year and a half that my dryer was not properly installed, I had lint lining the bottom of my dryer. I called to see if they could have someone come and correct the problem. He basically told me that since it’s been so long I was out of luck. Poor buisness structure in my eyes. I’m glad my mobile home did not burn down with my family inside. Please be advised! Try best buy in reno.

Not that Charlie needs anymore good reviews though as I was reviewing others I felt this was necessary. Charlie attends to any problem, issue, or need immediately. You can always get a hold of him. The products in the store are as cheap as you find in Reno. Also look for those open box buys. Whenever possible I get my customer’s appliances from him. He even once took a special order fridge back for free because a customer didn’t like it. In spite of the same last name we aren’t closely related.

Thet go above & beyond. Dedicated. I planned to look at a few refrigerator models by myself, figure stuff out. I was not ready for a sales person. When Bridgit walked over & offered help I thought why not, she has a relaxed open feeling, no pretense. She listens, helped w/​the decision because SHE KNOWS HER STUFF. Patient as a saint. Charlie was behind the scene, doing 3 things at once & the 2 work well together.
I don’t know if I could have got a better price at Home Depot, I did not check because I wanted to give back in just a tiny way. Charlie donated a TV to the Senior Center in Truckee, more to Sober Grad night & other donations in our town. He goes above & beyond w/​customer service, lets his employees be 100% into customer relations… i have previously bought a TV, a washer/​dryer & a leaf blower from Charlie. Never a negative experience. ALMOST want my dishwasher to break!!!

We have just spent a few months working from San Diego to get a new stacking washer and dryer. I started out with Sears online and ordered one. The technicians arrived and said it would not fit in the closet of our 3 bedroom Aspen Grove at Northstar unit and that the maximum depth that would fit with the door closed was 29 inches. They took it back at no charge. I ordered one that would fit and the housekeeper that was taking delivery said it was way too small to be of use for her to get done in time between rentals. We attempted a fix on the old unit at $ 300 but that is another story. We could not find a new unit with the same intermediate dimensions as the old unit (25 inches deep).
So I decided I would just give up on having a unit that fit in the closet and remove the door and let it stick out. I called the Sears Home Store (owner Charlie) in Truckee and the service was amazing compared to Sears corporate. I had not realized before that while the product is the same, the Home Store is local small business. They worked with me to find a unit with the minimum depth but that had the capacity we needed all the time assuming I would have to remove the door.
But I got up to the condo in late December and measured it for myself and found it larger than the corporate technician suggested. And when the new units were delivered by the Sears Home Store, lo and behold they fit with a little space to spare even though they were 29.75 inches deep! I think the guys contracted by the corporate Sears just didn’t want to bring them up the long flight of stairs to my first floor. With a side vent kit available on some dryers, we would have had even more room.
The other thing to note for those of you who have to deal with such things from a remote location is huge. Sears corporate will not deliver if no body is home. Sears Home Store in Truckee will do so. They treat me just like all the other local service people who I give my lockbox code so they can go in and get things fixed without me having to hire a person just to wait for them.
Furthermore, while I don’t expect perfection from anyone, I do expect them to stand behind their service, fix things that go wrong and not point fingers. When it turned out the drain hose to the washer had a small crack in it, I called and Charlie, the owner came back well after work hours around 7:30 pm the day before New Years eve with his tech to fix it. I thought we were done with this whole sad washer replacement story, but a week later a hose washer split in one of the hoses the night before we left and Charlie came back on Sunday morning at 8 am and fixed that too so that all would be well in time for a new renter checking in that afternoon.
I cannot recommend Charlie and the Sears Home Store in Truckee strongly enough. Their number is 530−550−0110.

The only place to go for appliances or anything sears related, Charlie and his staff always go above and beyond. Very fair prices and delivery fees. Why go anywhere else?

This is a really exceptional store, managed by a guy who really cares about the customer. He also has a staff of sales people that are equally committed. They know their products, how they work, and how to match your needs with their products. Most importantly, they spend the time to make sure you are happy. Compared to the other appliance stores I have recently visited on my search for a washer/​dryer, this is really a breath of fresh air!

Great start to finish customer service. This is our fourth appliance purchase here and it’s so nice to have a quality appliance purveyor locally. After a disappointing experience purchasing (and returning) a dryer through Sears online (trying to save time and energy), we decided that going to the store in-​person was the best choice. We had tricky issues with measurement, sizing, and installation, along with as noise issues (the returned dryer sounded like a jet engine taking off). The owner-​operator of the store, Charlie, took a lot of time to ask us what we needed, where it was going, and when we needed it. There is no pressure here to make a quick decision, and that is really appreciated. After discussing our options, we ended up deciding on a dryer that we spent plenty of time checking out on the display room floor. Our space clearance was so close that he assured us if it didn’t fit we wouldn’t have to keep it. Dave rang us up and always does a wonderful job. The next day, the delivery/​installation team arrived. They were deliberate, cautious, and skilled as they determined the best, and safest way to vent the dryer. With not an inch to spare, they perfectly fit our new high-​tech dryer into a small laundry closet, and it was perfectly vented for safety and operational purposes. There was no rushing, and time and care was taken to make us feel comfortable about the new, big purchase, how it worked, and what to expect. After a month without a dryer, I’m back in business! Thanks so much.

Recently bought a washer /​dryer, refrigerator, micro wave and stove from Charlie and Rico. Customer service was outstanding. Charlie even came to our house to measure to make sure everything fit perfectly.
Additionally, the Sears delivery guys were first rate. Prompt, polite, cleaned up after delivery and explained how everything worked.
Lastly for install have their vendor Jeff do it. We cannot say enough about how professional he was!
As second home owners in Truckee, cannot understand why anyone would go to Reno as prices and especially service is top notch right in our back yard.

Unbelievably AAAAwesome! Our refrigerator broke down on Memorial Day weekend. I couldn’t let my 86 year old Father be without a fridge… I called Charlie to see what he had in stock! We drove to Truckee, picked a fridge from the showroom floor and he had it delivered the next day, ON Memorial Day! The old one was gone and new one installed by two really great guys. It wasn’t an easy install either — they worked on it until they had it right! Charlie showed up midway through the installation to help out. As they left they even gave my dad a bottle of stainless steel polish for his new refrigerator. I would never go anywhere else to buy an appliance. Shop Local, buy local!

Best. Customer service. Ever.
It’s not that the folks at the Sears Hometown Store are perfect. It’s that they do their level best to make things right when they go wrong. That, to me, is the definition of customer service.
We are second-​home owners in Truckee. That puts us at the mercy of the vendors that we buy our home appliances from. If an appliance turns out to be a lemon, whether it’s during the warranty period or not, we could be looking at many hours of hell commuting up to the mountains to meet repair people, etc. But because we buy our appliances from Charlie, we have been able to get repairs done and issues resolved for one-​tenth of the potential hassle.
Charlie takes care of his customers … long after the appliance has been delivered to their door. He recently lent us a refrigerator for several weeks when our fridge broke down and the needed parts were on backorder. He did that without us having to ask. I don’t know a single other store manager that bends over backwards for a customer the way Charlie does. He is as solid as they come.
So when you shop at Sears Hometown Store in Truckee, you can shop with confidence. If things should ever go wrong with your purchase, Charlie and his crew will do everything they can to make it right. They’ve earned our longterm business for sure.

Highly recommended. Charlie is great. We had mechanical problems with a refrigerator that was purchased from Sears in our ski lease. Charlie personally delivered a dorm fridge for us to use until the refrigerator could be replaced. Hands on, friendly service.

Super friendly, super helpful and super affordable. Charlie and staff are knowledgeable and are truly there to help. Delivery has always been great. I have purchased 4 major appliances there in the last couple years and I have nothing but good things to say. I’m not that happy with my washing machine and wish I didn’t get a high tech, all digitized one but that is not reflection of the Sears staff. I’m happy that Truckee has an affordable place to purchase large appliances.

These guys are awesome! We were in TD over the Thanksgiving holidays. We find out our fridge had stopped working. On thanksgiving day, all stores were closed and did not even answer our frantic calls. We had the good fortune of trying Charlie’s store. He understood our emergency. He invited us to the store although it was officially closed.
He even offered us a loaner at no extra charge so we could manage without being forced to buy in a rush.
Fortunately, he had a model that we liked and he delivered within 2 hours — all this on Thanksgiving day, when everything was closed.
I am a loyal customer, for life!

This is the best store ever. Charlie and his staff are wonderful to work with. Over the years we have purchased a washing machine, snow blower and a refrigerator plus many other items. Delivery and set up has always been great.

After growing weary of being ignored at CZYS Appliance Store in Truckee (see review) I went here to buy a new washer and dryer. They were happy to see me, had what I wanted at the right price, and will earn all my future business.
