I agree with many of the previous ratings. The staff there is extremely knowledgeable, nice, and efficient. Prices might be a bit on the high side compared to Orchard or Home Depot, but you get the convenience and the service.

Awesome friendly knowledgable staff. They can answer pretty much any question. More than a hardware store. Good coffee.

A bit pricey, That’s supply and demand for you… in a blizzard the guys were great about getting my chains and telling me how to put them on. They also gave great direction. However, it says it is an ACE hardware store… everyone was friendly. The locals are happy to have you there and they have a wonderful selection of sleds!

My favorite hardware store anywhere. Tons of helpful employees. No condescending to women. And they have outdoor gear too!

Mtn Hardware in Truckee is the kind of business that we customers LIKE to shop. service is the Nordstrom /​Ritz Carlton in a hardware store; prices are very competitive (no need to drive to Reno, please!); selection is extensive.
can you believe this is a store where beautiful gift wrapping is still available? last time we were there in store, our gifts were wrapped cheerfully and at no extra cost!
we now live away from Truckee. We miss Mtn Hardware!!! there are more hardware stores at our current city, but now we are missing the expertise and «coaching» that distinguishes the Mtn. Hardware.

My husband and I came in tonight after having a broken chain wrap around our wheel in the snow. I had my two year old son and dogs in the car and it was snowing like crazy! The people at this store were so helpful and went above and beyond to help us remove the broken chain and find the right sized new ones. I cannot begin to say enough about how caring and generous these people were. You will have a customer for life. Thank you!!!

I went into the lumber dept. in need to build a platform in my van. Not only was the rep named Kenneth very helpful in directing me to the right lumber and measurements, he helped me build the whole thing. I have never experienced such gallant service before. These guys are a bunch of real professionals at the Ace.

I am in my 60s and have been to dozens of hardware stores and this place is probably the best hardware store I have ever been in. very helpful staff. as a do it yourselfer I can go in there with a lot of questions and they have always been patient with me and even give you many money saving suggestions. the best.

This place has everything! There is a lot of staff at the store. You don’t have to look for anyone, they are all in their areas and look at you to make eye contact to start helping you. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and listen. They provide good solutions for electrical, painting, plumbing, and winter needs. We will continue to come back to the store when we need home improvement items or winter goods.

Never before have I been able to buy a hammer, a bathing suit, home décor, and a coffee in the same place. This place is amazing. There isn’t much shopping in Truckee, so this is your one stop shop. Pretty pricey, but worth browsing through.

I spent four hours this morning down in Reno looking for large metal dog bone dog tags to replace ones that were lost this weekend. I could not even find one that would hold four lines. My son let me know that he saw them at Ace and he saw the exact oil rubbed metal ones that we had before. They also let us know that they could engrave both sides on like the ones we had before out of the machine. I should’ve learned by now and stop wasting my time running down to Reno when places up here have exactly what we need if not more for the same or just about the same price and no hassle. Thank you Ace!

This is not your normal hardware store! It is more like an old time general store. This is my favorite place in Truckee to shop!
They have your every day tools, house maintenance items, lumber, gardening supplies, etc. like every other ace however they also have a great fishing gear section, sports goods, quality and stylish shoes/​boots, clothing, outdoor furniture and a very nice housewares/​home goods section. If you are a local it has almost everything you might need!
It is really hard to describe the charm this store has. I love to come here and browse around. It is a small store which feels more like a 100 year old mom and pop own business who’s charm and ambiance has grown organically over time. It in no way feels like a chain store.
This is the perfect all in one store for a small town like Truckee!
The staff is always friendly and there is a small coffee stand at the main entrance to the store.

Just purchased a new grill from them. The service was beyond great. Louis walked me through all the features and was very knowledgeable. They offered to assemble it for me at no extra charge and I was able to pick up an hour later. Two other employees were involved in assembly and loading into my car and were super friendly. The price was comparable to big box stores but the service was far better than you could find at said stores.

When ever my parents, husband or I come through Truckee we stop here.
I love this place. You never know what you are going to find, so it makes coming here exciting.
They have cute crafts, a nice shoe selection and even a clothes aisle.
We have spent a lot of time here and keep coming back.
If you drive through Truckee, it is worth your while to stop. There is even a little coffee kiosk in front for the cold days.

A little pricy, but I guess it is a small town.

In our recent short trip to Truckee, we visited this place twice! It’s a fun place jam-​packed with great stuff. They have everything you’d need to live/​stay in the mountains. Great kitchenware selections, hats, fishing, tennis, clothing, hammocks…
So much fun just browsing around.

50% off Sorrels at the end of the season sale! Great staff, I was actually sent over here from one of the local snowboard shops and the crew here did not disappoint. I was helped through the remaining boot options and BAM! Retro looking 1964 Sorrels for next winter…

Keep going, better stores. Small selection terrible customer service. I’m a younger guy and constantly followed like I’m stealing even though I have spent hundreds of dollars here. I’m over it, it’s not a good store to begin with. I guess you haveto you’ll find nails and screws…
