Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel

Great staff. Clean rooms. Nicely updated. No complaints at all. I have yet to have a complaint with a Sheraton. If there is ever an issue, it is handled expeditiously. You wont be disappointed.

Stayed here for 3 nights this week while traveling for work.
The good:
Close to a lot of good restaurants. My favorite was Stoner River Steakhouse and Grill. It’s absolutely amazing if you can afford it or your company allows you to expense meals, I would definitely go there.
For being in a pretty populated area, surprisingly it’s not noisy at all and I slept decently well.
The bad:
The wifi is unbelievably bad. It works for only 20 minutes at a time before it gets slow and you can’t use it for any app. It was very frustrating. I had to use a lot of data on my phone or use the desktop downstair near the lobby for internet.
The gym is just cardio machines and dumbbells up to 50 lbs. And the pool is open at weird hours. Sometimes it’s open, sometimes it’s closed. Never saw a schedule for when it was officially open or closed.
Breakfast isn’t complimentary. I believe it’s buffet style but I’m used to staying at hotels with complimentary breakfast. I didn’t end up eating breakfast the days I spent there, but my coworkers did.

I am a hotel snob so I am not comparing this Sheraton to a Fairmont or a Ritz Carlton (back when Ritz Carltons were, well… ritzy!). But for a chain hotel at this level, I love this Sheraton and it gets five stars. Here’s why:
The Staff: They are fantastic! (Yes, Justin, I’m talking to you!). They are all great, including housekeeping and the funny guy in the well-​stocked gift shop. Incredibly polite, friendly, and they are all about customer service. I had a great rate on a room. Being a hotel junkie as well as a snob, I did what we junkies do: I asked for an upgrade at check-​in. We were placed in a large club-​level room, with fridge, microwave, furniture with large and plentiful drawers, plenty of lighting, decent FREE wifi, and free bottled water replenished each day. Love the water perk!
The Room: I listed what my room had above, which might not be in all rooms, although I expect the water and wifi are standard. But other highlights include clean rooms, including ultra-​clean bathrooms, plentiful and comfortable pillows, wonderful mattresses, large nightstand for all your stuff. Add to that marble and roomy, well-​lighted bathroom, soft towels and plenty of them, pleasant soaps and shower gels, shampoos, etc. (even a shower gel «puff» to use), great extending magnifier mirror mounted on the wall), solid water pressure and HOT water! Just overall a very nice room!
Club Amenities: I usually don’t expect much and I didn’t take advantage of all this amenity had to offer, so other reviewers can likely offer more details. But what I did notice and like and/​or used was the fridge stocked with yogurts, milks, juice, and sodas, fresh fruit, coffee and a great selection of Tazo Teas, plus a computer and printer, lots of seating and real flatware (not plastic). A separate TV area had a big flat screen and comfy couches for relaxing.
Bar: I’m not a big bar person but I wanted to check it out to at least mention it here. It was crowded the night I went because a wedding reception was in the hotel and part of it had migrated to the bar. I can say the group appeared to be having a lot of fun, the alcohol supply looked like it was varied and interesting, the bar tender was attentive even when I said I was just checking the place out. So I think it’s likely a nice hotel bar.
Restaurant: I did not use the restaurant during this stay but I have had room service on a previous visit and the food was very good. It’s not James Beard award-​winning cuisine but it was a tasty breakfast and I enjoyed it and it wasn’t exorbitant.
Checking Out: I asked for a late checkout due to our crazy schedule trying to attend two different events on that day. The front desk gal on duty (I wished I’d gotten her name, it might have been Leticia? But she was an African-​American woman with braids and a fabulous smile!) was wonderful. She asked how late a check out I needed and when I paused she offered 2:00 pm… unheard of! And supremely generous!
I’m missing parts of this hotel I know, but I don’t want to bog down the review. The workout area is fine for a hotel, some machines, foam pieces… Nice for a hotel. Doormen are friendly as everyone else. If you forgot something the gift shop is open late and is stocked with a huge variety of items from personal care items to power bars to pints of Haagen Dazs for late night ice cream cravings.
I travel to Baltimore frequently and I used to stay in the Harbor/Fell’s Point area in a boutique hotel I love. I still love it but it’s $$$ and it’s in a high-​density, super-​busy part of Baltimore. Now my family is more north so the Sheraton in Towson is ideal. It’s not my favorite boutique hotel in the Harbor area. That would be like comparing apples to oranges. But for a chain hotel, you get a very, very nice room that is CLEAN, with great amenities, and you will be welcomed and waited on by the best hotel staff around. The staff at the Sheraton in Towson DO compare to my favorite boutique hotel in Bmore… or a Fairmont or Ritz! (Yes, Justin, especially you!)

After driving for 10 hours, we arrived at 1AM for a very late check-​in. The hotel was well informed of this late check-​in, including a phone call at about 11PM concerning it. So why would they put us in a room right next to a room under renovation? Right at 8AM on the dot, hammering started and didn’t let up, on the shared wall to our room. When I complained about it at check out, no apology! Only a shrug and a statement that renovations are needed.
The bathroom sink’s fixture had filthy crust all around it, plus it was loose. The lighting in the bathroom was dim and horrid. THIN WALLS, even the wall between the hallway and room. Parking is not free. For what we paid for the room and parking, for all of the 4.5 hours of sleep, believe me, we’re not happy with this Sheraton at all.
In general, I would never recommend this place to a friend, nor would I ever stay here again.

I got the pleasure of coming into contact to Joshua, not only did he go above and beyond to meet my expectations but he was so warm, friendly and welcoming! We are here on a business trip with my fiances work, from Laguna Beach CA and I wasn’t feeling well. So its always great to know the guest services at the Sheraton North Baltimore goes that «extra mile». It was great to feel like I could utilized the amenities in the room. I love having my own mini frig and microwave and its a huge help since I like to eat healthy and usually shop at a local Whole Foods when we travel.
Plus they have free wi-​fi and being a Wedding Planner this is huge for me!!!

Fuck this hotel. Stayed in it because work paid for it. DO NOT STAY ON THE TENTH FLOOR. Toilet flooded right off the bat. Maintenance came. Sink flooded later. Toilet flooded again. It’s Midnight. I have a work roommate so it’s weird. Can’t just call plumbing. I told the front desk girl that this room needed to be seriously evaluated after tomorrow. She had the worst attitude about it. So fuck her. Fuck this hotel. Fucking embarrassing. Fuck this.
PS: Maintenance man with dreads was nice and understanding (he came up at midnight and I shushed him in the hallway to not wake the roommate and he was so polite)

Not sure why the ratings are so low– I had a pleasant experience at this Sheraton. (Stars on Unilocal are obv not for «hotel» stars, but rather for how a business meets you expectations…)
Front desk was courteous and signed me up for the Starwood rewards program even though I didn’t ask for it. Bartender was super friendly. Bar patrons not so bad (obv not Sheraton’s fault/​doing). Seems like a ton of weddings happen here, which IMO means the venue is clean and classy (regardless of whether your wedding guests are!)
Room was clean and nice. Can’t ask for much more.

This pet friendly hotel put us on the dog floor. Besides barking dogs we also could hear every other sound through the paper thin walls. We also had to have maintenance in clog a glob of hair from the tub — had to wonder if someone washed Spike in it.
The rooms are nice enough and the gym is great, but if sleep is what you are looking for — nope.

Very thin walls; general conversations can be heard from adjoining rooms; not worthy of the nightly rate. Paper thin walls make it feel as if guests from adjoining rooms are
in actually in your room. Hotel seems to be more interested in being dog friendly than people friendly. Guests should be asked
at registration and check-​in whether they have any sensitivities to dogs and then be accommodated accordingly. Punish all guests to accommodate dog owners? Barking dogs and hearing conversations from other rooms is not what I expect from a Sheraton with the associated rates we paid.

PROS: Room was nice and big with comfortable beds. Helpful that access to shopping and restaurants are easily accessible.
MAJOR CONS: The Internet service was HORRIBLE and never connected for either of us. Front desk did not have enough staff to assist the long line of guests waiting to check in. Did I mention there was NO working internet service?

Stayed here for a few days.
Better than the average hotel but low according to Sheraton standards.
Overall a clean presence until you look closer. The sheets were never changed just turned back up, and the bed cover was dirty to me because I could see stains and marks on them.
My room was connected to another room with a connecting door. The guests in the other room, first I could hear a bunch of kids running around then I could hear the sound adults conversations about 2am…
Room had no refrigerator when lower rated hotels at least came with that. Plus I had to get my parking ticket validated by the front desk ever time parked… annoying.
First and only time staying here…

Stayed for one night as a part of a road trip through the DMV area.
Staff was nice, parking is free (hotel validates your parking card)
The lobby was nice; the room was outdated and whoever is their interior designer did a horrible job (see the photo to get a kick out of it)
Room did not have a mini fridge! And ice bucket did not have something to grab the ice.
Overall a good experience considering the price, time and location.

i stayed here for a week for study course. the rooms was clean, gym was nice, didn’t use the pool but there is one there. breakfast was good. lunch was usual catered food. only annoying thing was getting the parking ticket validated everyday instead of having a course stamp or something but it was a good place to stay

Stayed here for a wedding.
Club floor and a club room (4 stars) exists, however when I called to reserve using my points (I’m a lifetime platinum member of SPG), they didn’t place me on the club floor. musta been full. I mean come on, I’m ~~PlaTinUuMmM~~ show some respect. Just Kidding (not).
Club room is typical, very large, the breakfast had ample coffee, eggs, and bacon with selected muffins. Obviously all the NYers and or Jews decended onto the bagels. which weren’t great. But not inedible.
Hotel room itself is plain (3 stars), you can order a fridge/​microwave, does not come with. The view is of a parking structure, but overall pretty normal, no frills.
Staff were 5-​stars, really nice when checking in/​out, and attentive when we ordered towels, etc.
Wedding/​banquet hall was… not great. (2 stars) The room was large and beige, the bartender was strange, the food was all out terrible. Just terrible. It was mahi mahi and pork, both of which were HARD and dry and tasted like bad jerky. The cheese plate appetizers was basically cubed cheese from costco, and the crackers were stale. I didn’t even know that was possible, how old must crackers be to go stale?!? Literally some of the worst food I’ve ever had, and I’ve traveled to remote areas of asian forests and eaten «local indigenous» aka bug food. The banquet chef job really needs to be re-​evaluated…
Gym was good enough for me (4 stars), some people have high expectations for hotel gyms, but this was clean, had multiple treadmills, foam rollers, and weight machines with towels.
Would only recommend this place if staying for business nearby or for a wedding in the hotel. It’s not near downtown Baltimore so you have to drive 20 – 30 minutes to get there.

The front desk staff were not friendly
The elevators were very slow … Had to wait over 10 minted before I can get on one, they are old and only 2 of the 3 worked.
The house keeping would clean the room and I would be missing the tv remote and had to ask for towels she forgot to put in
The TV did not work easily or nicely
The rooms are ok but need a face lift, no outlets to plugin your devices, no fridge in the room, bathroom had wall paper with some paint spots smeared on it; walls were somewhat thin because you could hear noise from the adjacent rooms.
They charge $ 9 per night for parking but you have to physically take the paper ticket and validate it at the front desk every time you leave
I tried their breakfast buffet and it was minimally ok, but they charged $ 14 for that
All in all, I would avoid if possible … The stay was more annoying than pleasurable

This review is only for the annual Mother’s Day brunch. The staff are helpful and the set up is okay. For this year, the food was below standard. I am not sure what changed, but I hope it improves next year.

Boring but functional. Nothing inviting about it whatsoever. Could use some work.
Staff: A
The front desk person was great. Quick and helpful too. I had one challenge with my iron and she was on it pronto.
Room: B
Clean. GREAT bed. I mean great. The room is old and dated. They’ve modernized it, but it’s really missing the electric plug ins that are needed. Everything worked fine. The bed was great. Did I already say that? As a biz traveler, the bed is so important.
Food: B
Had breakfast buffet. Staff was very friendly. Made to order omelets were an A++, rest of the food was a C-​.
Bartender and night was cool.
Intangibles: B
Good location in Towson, especially for business for visiting someone at the college. It’s dated though, so don’t expect new and fancy.
I recommend this for business travelers.

Warning! They charge $ 9.00/day parking.
I booked through Priceline who rates hotels from 1 to 4 stars. This hotel was rated 3 star.
The room and the rest of the building were very nice, but I was let down by the small things. For example, house cleaning took an empty box of kleenex and stuffed 6 new sheets into the box. We needed more than 6!
When I got there I went into the door that looked like the main entrance and found an empty desk with an Avis Closed sign on one end. I had to conclude that this was not the check in counter. After looking elsewhere for a while, I went back to the same desk and found a person who had to get another person to take care of me.
The people were extremely nice and comped me the parking and breakfast for 2 to make up for my troubles.
I was happy for the comps. They showed the hotel really cared about their guests.
I liked the breakfast buffet. Food was fresh and good, and they had someone making custom omletts. Might have been the best free breakfast I ever had. However, I think $ 15 is a bit much for what I got. At $ 10 it would be worth it.

Was a nice hotel at one time, great location so guess the reason so many stay.
The hotel has a nice lobby but the rooms, gym, fixtures are old an need updating.
They have a single serve old coffee machine to fit a pod, but they give you a huge Starbucks coffee packet that doesnt even fit in the tray. I tried my best to squish it in there but the coffee spilled over the desk, guess its the main reason for all the stains on the desk table, which by the way is completely gross especially if you have work to do. Feel like your working in a subway restroom.
Dirt everywhere– on mattress that was drug on the concrete floor perhaps? Switches and outlets with years of black dirt/​crud, stained desk for working.
Got a great rate from online site hot wire however will select a newer hotel next trip.

I have stayed here a few times and we recently hosted a small meeting here. The hotel itself isn’t too bad, although it probably could use a bit of an update.
The meeting went well and we were really happy with the service staff. They took care of us and our guests and made the adjustments that always seem to happen.
The rating loses one star from me because of the communication issues with the catering/​sales staff. I had to repeatedly email and call just to get a response to my questions, etc. I’m not used to that from catering folks. Most are really good about returning emails and answering questions. Maybe it was because we were a smaller group but we are still paying what they asked so I would expect that same treatment as any other group.
