Best Western Plus Towson Baltimore North Hotel & Suites

Nice enough for the most part but some things would definitely improve the place. Having an actual blanket for the bed would be nice. My choice was freezing or keeping it so hot it was stuffy and hard to breathe. Make sure the coffee pot in the room works, pillows other than overstuffed rocks and a better mattress. The breakfast buffet (which I didn’t know they had) was fine, cleanliness wasn’t fabulous but adequate. Would I stay again? Probably not, unless the options were worse. Nothing ruins my work day faster than poor sleep

Very disappointing stay. We had a delayed flight so we landed at BWI at 2 am. After getting the rental car to head to York, Pa, we decided to stop for the night to try to get some sleep since the next day was Christmas eve and we had busy plans. We checked in at 3:15 am. Front desk woman was pretty rude and didn’t seem to want to help us. She gave us a key, and then changed her mind and gave us a different key and sent us to a room right outside the elevator. We finally got to sleep around 4 am but 2 hours later the elevator, people, and slammed doors had us awake for hours. We finally gave up and checked out. Exhausting. Room was just ok. All we wanted was a place to rest and it was not a success. Would never stay there again.

I stayed here for a few nights during a snow storm, that delayed my move.
The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was nice. Free Breakfast.
I too experienced my car blocked in from snow and figured some of the lot would be cleared out by the 3 day or so. I would stay here again in a pinch. Do not go to the restaurant/​bar inside see my review.

Gave this place a second chance. Much better service than a year ago. Huge difference. Didn’t recognize anyone from 2014. They must have cleaned house, as well they should have. Rooms are fine, price is good, and now the service is above average. Staying again next week. What does that tell you?

I arrived for a two night stay on 16 April. For reasons that will soon be clear, it is important to note that I called ahead to say that I would be checking in late, after 9 pm. And in fact I checked in right around 9:00 pm and was sent to a room where the bed had just been used — there was hair in it, pillows on floor, sheets pulled off — and where, on the bathroom floor, there was a pile of wet towels covered with semen. The only person on staff was a young man named Brady (whom I advised not to touch the towels with his hands when he finally came up to the room). He told me they were booked and had no other rooms for me – so i told him that he or someone needed to clean the room and change the linens. Evidently he didn’t want to do so. I don’t exactly blame him. After 90 minutes I was given a room on a corridor under construction. The management never contacted me. When I checked out, I spoke to the manager briefly; I couldn’t talk to her at length because — as if my arrival hadn’t been bad enough — they had forgotten my wake up call — likely because the room is still under construction and technically not supposed to have guests in it — so I was late for the airport. I did tell her in detail what happened, and she never followed up. I told her I planned to contact the health department if I didn’t hear from her. I have since done so.
I should add that when I exited the elevator en route to the room, there were 2 girls and a man running from the direction of the room where I was headed. Whether they are teenagers with no place else to have sex or some random sex work operation, I don’t know, but it seems pretty obvious they were running from the room after being alerted that I had checked in. Regardless, because I had been traveling for twelve hours, it took me a few minutes to realize what I had walked into, and I actually touched the towels, as at first I thought perhaps they had fallen and there was a leak or something — I can assure you that what was on my hand was semen.
When I contacted Best Western customer service, they stood by the manager’s (ultimately she followed up) offer of a 50% refund. And at first they told me that they wouldn’t refund anything because I booked through Expedia, so this was Expedia’s problem, not Best Western’s. Uh huh. So, just once more, allow me to repeat: I HAD SOMEONE ELSE’S SEMEN ON ME.
All to say, it was not only this particular location that was terrible; the customer service supervisor was equally awful. i’ve stayed at some great Best Westerns. I will never stay at one again.

If there was a way to give a 0 I would. I come to this hotel every weekend for some R&R and to just get away. Their service is near to non-​existent. I told the manager how i felt about requesting a room that was away from other guest so I could get some sleep and outwardly they acquiesced but When i got to my room i had seven neighbors in the next room coming and going all through the night and screaming constantly. I also told her how i felt about being treated rudely by her night staff. She did nothing. Instead, i came to patronize the hotel again and the person behind the desk was drunk and had just come from the bar. She then told me off, slurring her words the whole time about the conversation i had with her boss and how she knew the complaint was about her. They charge incidentals up front and they get really rude about it, the incidentals seem to vary in price between 50 – 75 dollars. The rooms are old, one of the times i stayed the whole curtain rod came down in my room. If you stay i wish you the best.

How do you tell your clientele; that They need to shovel their own car Out from the Best Western parking lot; because the snow plow blocks their car.
You are a service provider and it is Totally absurd and unacceptable to expect Any of your guests to «borrow» a shovel to remove snow from Your parking lot. I realize this is not a 4 star hotel and I expect very little but a Clean, Safe and well maintained room to sleep. But I’m dumbfounded by this.

Nice place to stay when in the area. There is a nice Vietnamese restaurant and bar on the first level that’s pretty good. Offers free hot breakfast in the morning!
One big negative I have about the place is that the doors close with a loud bang unless you catch it.

Our experience was horrible. The lounge is open to the lobby and one inebriated patron was physically threatening, very loud and cursing terribly. Unbelievably, he was not addressed by staff and allowed back at the bar! We entered our room and the bathroom floor was very clearly unclean around the commode and the floor was sticky all over. My husband returned to the lobby and attempted to purchase snacks and water with his credit card and was told only cash was acceptable. We will not ever come here again nor will we use
for reservations.

I stayed here recently while making funeral arrangements for my brother.
I had expected to stay one night but had to rebook for two nights. I was able to accomplish all by 4pm of the second day and decided to checkout rather than stay the second night. I fully expected to be charged for the second night but the desk allowed the four extra hours despite the fact that I had showered after the room had been made up. The desk was not aware of why I was in town and I never asked for any leeway. I appreciate such kindness which is rare these days with many businesses.

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times. The first time I stayed the hotel was mostly empty. The hotel room comes with complimentary breakfast and during my first stay it was really great. I enjoyed the hotel, and I stayed there again during my next visit to Towson, MD. My second stay at this hotel went less well.
During my second stay, on the first night, I discovered that the deadbolt to my room door did not lock properly. Specifically, the deadbolt did not properly enter through the strike plate because they were not properly aligned. Therefore, I could not fully lock my door. I was very unhappy that I did not have a properly locking door. I called the front desk to complain. At the time I was told that the maintenance staff had gone home and they could not send anyone to fix the door. I asked for a different room. I was told that the hotel was booked for a wedding, and they could not find me a different room. The woman at the front desk said she was busy with customers and would try to find a solution and she would call me back. I waited 1 hour and 10 minutes after my initial call, and no one called me back. I called again. A new woman was at the desk, and she said the other woman left because they changed shifts. The new woman also said the hotel was booked but after 12 AM she could see if anyone didn’t show up to claim their room. At 12:10 AM she called me back and said that she had one room open because the customer never showed up. I packed up my belongings, returned the old room key, got the new room key and went upstairs to the new room (the time being around 12:30 AM). The ceiling had brown stains on it, but it otherwise seemed ok. I went into the bathroom, and I saw the handle on the toilet had been ripped off entirely, and the broken handle had been placed on top of the toilet’s water tank. I tried to flush the toilet and saw that it was impossible to do so because the handle was broken. I called the front desk and told them about the broken toilet handle and that the toilet could not be flushed. They moved me back into my old room because there was no other room available. I suppose I would rather have a room with a broken deadbolt than a room with no functioning toilet.
In addition, other things were wrong with my room. There were 2 holes in the ceiling and you could see the empty space beyond the ceiling. The wallpaper had numerous rips in it. The glass peephole in the door was cracked. The blanket on my bed had a brown stain. The shower in the bathroom had three dispensers including one for shampoo, one for body wash, and one for conditioner, but the dispenser for the conditioner was empty during my first night. The air vent in the bathroom was filthy, and the sprinkler for the fire system was filthy too. The hot water worked very poorly. I would have to wait literally more than 5 minutes for any hot water to come out of the shower. There was some garbage on the floor left over from a previous customer (it was a cap from a shaving cream canister). I had other family members who also stayed at the hotel in different rooms. On the second morning of our stay, the complimentary breakfast had no eggs or sausage whatsoever. The staff told us that the oven/​cooker had broken, and they were unable to make the eggs or sausage. Furthermore, they also said that their supervisor was on vacation so they weren’t sure what to do about the problem. My family members were very disappointed that for the second morning they could not have eggs or sausage. When you travel with a large group, having free breakfast can save a lot of money compared with paying for breakfast for the large group. With a large enough group, a free breakfast can even influence which hotel you stay at.
When I checked out, I was asked if my door had ever been fixed, and was told that a maintenance request had been put in when I complained during the first night. I truthfully told them that my door had never been fixed even though I stayed for multiple nights and had told them about the problem on the first night.
Since then I have stayed additional times. On another visit, the heater wasn’t working and the room started to get cold. I looked under the heater and saw the wires under the heater were burnt and charred (see my photo in this review). I took a photo and showed it to the front desk. They switched me into another room. In the second room the heat was working correctly.
Overall, it’s a decent hotel, but not great. I’ve had quite a few problems, and I’ve had to switch rooms during multiple stays. There are nicer hotels in the area, but they are more money. However, the hotels in the area which are a similar price tend to either be worse, almost equally bad, or are in a bad neighborhood. As a result, I sometimes stay here even though I’ve had multiple problems, and even though there are nicer (more expensive) hotels available.

I want to preface this review by staying that this not a 4 star hotel. This is a 4 star best western. I travel frequently for work, and my boss prefers to use William Shatner as a travel agent on Priceline rather than save money with a rewards program over the long run with a single hotel chain. The result? Many Best Westerns in my travel budget. But enough about me and my job.
The rooms are HUGE. My king room could have easily fit two king beds, rather than doubles or queens in the two person rooms. Fairly modern, mattress and pillows are comfy. Good cable channels. Each room has a refrigerator and a microwave. Free, no pass code, reliable wifi. I was able to stream in HD with no buffering. .
The bathroom looks like it was recently remodeled. I did notice a long black hair that clearly didn’t being to me in the shower, but I’m assuming that’s from the cleaning lady.
Front desk staff was friendly, helpful. Plenty of parking and this hotel is located immediately off the expressway. Close to Towson, Baltimore, and 95 North or South. Hotel bar and restaurant are surprisingly good. Happy hour is decent, great tv screens so I got to watch the Red Sox embarrass themselves in HD. :(. Free hot breakfast too.
Things I did not like: TOILETRIES! I have a legitimate stockpile of shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc. from my traveling. I keep some in my own toiletry bag in the car just in case I end up getting stuck somewhere. This hotel doesn’t give you anything but one bar of hand soap. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand lotion are in refillable dispensers on the wall. Great idea for home, but not for me at a hotel. Also, the bathroom floor was dirty when I arrived, and I was so grossed out I wiped it down before I left.
BREAKFAST BUFFET: for free food, it wasn’t bad. Maybe even kind of good. My one gripe is the signs everywhere that say you cannot bring your food back to the room. A little man was watching me, so I got stuck listening to a member of Duck Dynasty telling his buddy about his epic haul in his rig.
In all, if every Best Western was like this (I’m looking at you, Best Western Long Island City!), maybe my friends wouldn’t say «Oh, Best Western still exists?» during my inevitable next visit in the unknown. Keep it up!

Stayed here over the weekend to attend a friend’s wedding in towson. The Hotel is very reasonably priced and right off 695. It’s about 5 minutes drive to towson center mall area.
The room wasn’t that bad — large enough and equipped with microwave and fridge along with flat screen TV. I found everything to be pretty clean.
The free morning breakfast was a plus which is open until 11AM during the weekends. They had bagels, breads, muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage links, yogurts along with few varieties of cereals.
They have free coffee and fresh lemonade in the lobby for guests.
Overall, pretty good and reasonably priced hotel. If I do come back — will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was very reasonably priced and was located minutes from the shopping mall.
Other than that, it was just okay. Okay service, okay continental breakfast. Just okay.
There was a stain around the bathroom toilet that looked suspiciously like dried urine. Housekeeping came to clean/​remove, but he was unsuccessful. I tried to ignore the stain each time I used the bathroom. Yea…
The stay was okay, but since I don’t plan to return to Baltimore, I doubt that I’ll return.

I love this place! Great location. Large rooms. And the price is right for the money. They also provide a fridge and microwave.

Nice standard hotel. Quiet and everything we have seen is well kept. Nothing to get excited about, but perfectly acceptable for a business stay in the area.

There were roaches on the walls of the first room they gave me. Dirty towels in the second. Walls & doors are filthy. Needs a total remodel — it’s disorienting because the lobby & bathroom sinks are new but the rest is filthy. Room doors are damaged. 1-​inch hair balls on the carpet in the hallway. Rooms need painting and the bathtub needs a serious overhaul to get the decades of grime off the bottom.
I followed up with the Asst Manager in the morning and his customer service was great. He corrected the price increase that the night-​person had added when they upgraded me out of the roach room, sent engineering up right away to investigate, and asked me to fill out a comment card and send it in. (That’s next.) Still, I doubt I’ll be back. I barely slept wondering if, at any moment, I’d find something worse.
For the quality of the room, it was twice as expensive as it should have been.
