This place is great, the food isnt mind blowing but it is good and filling. It opens early, like around 7 am and you can get fried chicken. The prices aren’t bad either. Typical breakfast sandwich is less than $ 3 and the French toast platter is around $ 5 – 6 bucks. I only wish they stayed open later.

Nice neighborhood spot. Lots of options for breakfast and lunch, pretty sure breakfast is served all day. Closes pretty early so no late night snacking. I got the 3-piece chicken wings and French fries, nothing fancy. It doesn’t come seasoned but they have sauces and seasonings on the counter for you to add your own flavor to it. Bottom line for me, its not expensive, lots of options, and close to where I get my hair done so I shall return.

What can I say, it’s an ok spot for cheap chicken. Don’t expect anything ground breaking or culinary adventurous. The sides are pretty much standard for a chicken joint. I’d say this is a good spot for college kids on a budget trying to get a cheap food fix.

Even though Hooters is just around the corner, this is your place for real meaty wings… as well as breasts, thighs, and legs… :) Good, hot, fresh, just greasy enough nicely seasoned, crispy fried chicken. mmmm…extremely meaty wings… lots of hot sauce, salt, pepper, ketchup, and other condiments available. Large menu– full carry-out subs/sandwiches/breakfast fare– including waffles. Yes — you can get chicken and waffles, here, too… mmmm… Staff very friendly and welcoming. Seems to be lots of regulars wandering in, chatting up owners. Place functions as a mini-corner store, too– huge wall of old-fashioned type candies(Mary Janes… mmm…) and chips, little dispensers for tiny Advil packs and chapsticks and such… Small for eat-in– 2 seats at counter, 2 seats by an old 50s style kitchen table. Mostly carry-out. Very bare-bones, clean but clearly decorated on a small, small budget. Gives it a great yummy dive-chicken joint atmosphere. I’m weird– I only drink tea unsweetened. So I couldn’t sample their homemade brew– it’s sweet tea and there is also lemonade, both the right beverages for this type of joint mixed 50 – 50. Lucky for odd balls like myself, there is a high-quailty brand(Tradewinds) unsweet-tea in the cooler. Not bad pricing– 4 wings and fries, 5 bucks; add soda, makes it 6. You can ask for the standard-isse white bread slice if you really need that starch, I believe it’s free. You’ll roll out full, happy, and in need of some serious cardio-exercise time! MMMMM– if you got a craving for chicken/fish and fries(Western and regular both good options– Western were soggier, but real moist potatoe flavor, regular really crisp outside, soft in middle)– check this place out! 5 stars not for fancy, but for nailing 100% friendly neighborhood chicken joint, in a nieghborhood where they can serve you with without bulletproof glass between server and served.

«What a dump.» –Bette Davis«Beyond the Forest»(1949) I’d never judge a book solely by it’s bedraggled brick & mortar cover. Some of the best eats I’ve had were dished in dives. Chicken Paul may be housed behind an only slightly scruffy storefront, but there’s some serious savory wings sashaying from under it’s heat lamps. I couldn’t resist the 4 Wings Combo with Western Fries at $ 5.19. Decently sized wings with a decently crunchy, still succulent, lightly seasoned skin contrasting moist — but not too greasy — meat. Western fries were somewhat generously sized wedges. This combo beat the combo of my favorite Lexington Market wing stall. And unlike my favorite Lexington Market wing stall, I was allowed the option of personally adding my own extra salt, extra pepper, ketchup, and/or hot sauce to taste. Delectable as the wings were, I didn’t feel any extra dress up was needed. This is an honest Mom & Pop Shop. And both mom & pop served me smiles of genuine geniality as a side order. Bette best learn to look beyond funky façades. She’s missing out. Chicken Paul rewarded me with some pretty fine fried fowl inside.

Chicken Paul, in my opinion, is one of those hidden gems that you pay no attention when you drive by, but is amazed by once you finally decide to go in. When I say amazed, I’m not talking about the layout of the restaurant. I’m talking about the delicious food and even better quality customer service. It’s amazing what influence high quality customer service can have on the overall experience. Chicken Paul resides on Loch Raven Blvd near Towson. You can miss the place completely if you are getting fresh off I-695 going across Joppa Road. Bring spare change, because there are parking meters outside of the store. If you have never been to Chicken Paul, I recommend getting something simple, like four pieces of fried chicken wings and fries. The chicken is moist, savory, and cooked well. The chicken wings aren’t small either, if you are wondering. The store offers either french fries or potato wedges. If you get either one, they’ll put enough to the point where the tray is hard to close. I believe to total was a little bit over $ 5. Big fan of Cheesefish subs? Excellent, because those are delicious as well. What about half and half(Baltimore talk right there)? The store will serve it up, no problem. Honestly, I’m confident that pretty much anything on the menu will be good enough to order. Chicken Paul has a couple of small tables in the front, so either bring a small crowd or just plan to carry out. Either way, make a stop if you are in the mood for some delicious food in the Loch Raven area.

When I was a kid my mom would take me to the old location for lunch. As an adult I go to the new location for lunch! The chicken is delicious. Tender, juicy, wonderful, and very delicious. The tuna salad is also really good, as are the french fries. The place is cheap and to the point, and seriously. So good.

Chicken Paul’s used to be located further down Loch Raven Blvd near the Greetings and Readings… I first discovered them when I was in college. Back then, I didn’t care how many calories I consumed so I would happily order the 4 wings and fries AND fried rice. I would wash this down with a jumbo half and half. Then one day, I received the sad news that the shopping plaza that Chicken Paul was located in was closing down. I cried for days lamenting the loss of possibly the finest chicken wings in town. On the bright side, the abrupt closing of Chicken Paul possibly saved me from developing severe circulatory health problems so I guess it wasn’t all bad… But still, sometimes I would think about those hot, steamy, juicy wings and the crispy, salty western fries and I would get all teary eyed asking myself, «If only…» And then it happened. At first there were some unsubstantiated rumors, then some eye-witness accounts, and then physical evidence… Chicken Paul was back. With my eyes swelling with tears of joy and my lower lip quivering out of a mix of tepid nerves and excitement, I was brought to my knees by the wonderful, unexpected news. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. Hot, crispy skin and moist juicy meat. They are seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper. Add a splash of hot sauce and… so good… The fried fish is amazing as well. Be warned however that the jumbo lake trout really is a jumbo sized lake trout. It’s big enough to feed 2 – 3 people depending on how comfortable you want to feel afterward(gotta remember to wear sweat pants next time…). The half and half is classic Baltimore style: too sweet iced tea mixed with too sweet country time lemonade.
